Well, the second they do it they will get ONE more sale from me. Some great looking online leagues with the CM game, but impossible to go back as you know.

F1 2020, no VR support on PC in 2020 = no buy.
BobbyDeacs replied to vulcan78's topic in General Discussion
We want to move our league from Assetto Corsa (it's old hat now) to F1. Problem, half our members use VR so it's a complete non-starter. The official game is also the only game that chooses to stay behind technology - staggering! -
Thanks for the tips, I will definitely give it a try "when" they implement VR. I'm sure I'd adjust, but I can't seem to be able to drive at all now on a flat-screen.

Haven't played F1 series since they added "pad traction control" and killed my league off with it, however was just Googling to see if they had done anything radical since then like cater for dedicated servers (it makes a massive difference) and your post came up giving me temporary hope - til I read it. Oh well, you made me laugh - and cry :( No VR yet, Jeez! Glad to see the Safety car is still wiping you out though and Aliens still do exist.

The simplest way to run a league is to let people push the rules to the limit and let the game decide for us who's been a bad boy - but if we do that we're just a bunch of noobs. Extending the track limits by going wide to gain an advantage has been sorted 100% :) albeit in a slightly unnatural way, but big thumbs up from us on that. However, the corner cutting saga continues from 2010. At places like Singapore, the severity of the kerbs alone does the job for us, but on most tracks there's a bit here and a bit there where you can cheat by fractions and gain tons of time. Suggestions:- 1) Slightly fiercer kerb reaction when front two wheels are illegal (by cm's) without it being silly, just enough to make it not worthwhile. 2) The "controlly" thing you were on about pre-release if that works, maybe that's for 2015. 3) For us a simple "Wall of Shame" would do just fine - add a "corners cut" column to the final standings. Then we can sort out the problems ourselves. 4) Maybe you just blip-blip the corner cutter - 1 blip for a couple of inches, 2-blips for more - something like that. Again, unrealistic but if it works... I know we can save videos etc in 2015, but just maybe the "corner cutter" might forget to save his and any video anyone else did of them would be subject to lag and therefore inaccurate. I'm sure I've posted a similar thread to this pre-release, but those would have been my wishes for F1 2014. Here's an example of how much you can gain:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sScfbysXttE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sScfbysXttE Edit:- after watching that, maybe the track "widening" needs looking at too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbp3BtPsc4U&feature=youtu.be This touch of wheels results in me on the right getting a penalty even though I am clearly the only one making any effort to avoid it. However, although I am moving to the right in relation to the track, I'm still turning the wheel slightly left to match the curve, so the game logic has interpreted this as me turning-in on the AI whilst he's driving in a straight line. If you remove the track from the equation that's exactly what's happened.

Bug report - Losing contact with Logitech wheels between quali/race - clue?
BobbyDeacs posted a topic in General Discussion
I was practising (qualifying), put lap in and parked up then left game running in background to go into PSN and answer some messages. As I was doing this, my DFGT suddenly stopped working (I was using it to navigate through messages). After unplugging/plugging back in, I went back into the game and realised it had coincided with end of quali/start of race, so F1 2014 isn't "losing contact" with my wheel, it's actually "switching it off completely". Tonite's online race, chronic lag as per last week (reckon PSN is getting attacked again). Just 1 guy's wheel stopped (G25) between quali & race. -
You could make Legend even quicker then if you wanted too.

Happened to 3 out of 6 wheel users tonight - that's a bug not a coincidence. Unplug/ re-plug in and all works again,

Q&R 50% distance, Hungary, PS3, No Assists apart from Auto-Gears which no-one used. F1 2014 Performance, Sunny. Field size 8 - pre-season practice race. Bug 1, Severity LOW - I set up lobby to allow auto-gears and it gave ME auto-gearbox. I have not used or selected auto-gearbox - ever (until now) - it simply overrode my default setting of manual gears. I went out, realised (it took a while LOL) and pitted straight away to fix it. Bug 2 - Severity MEDIUM - Gave us all fresh tyres for race, Parque Ferme ON. Bug 3 - Severity HIGH - Pad user went from middle of field to 1st place in about 200 yards and got to first corner before we had even started braking Bug 4 - Severity HIGH - My wheel froze on start line again (Logitech DFGT). It may be something to do with having keyboard in USB slot 2, I will unplug next race. Another player with G27 had same problem. Massive problem for me as I have squash ball in brake well and it calibrates during my first braking after re-plugging it in so corner 1 lost 3 places avoiding trouble. Bug 5 - Severity HIGH - No blue flags. Back markers battled it out with the front guys until they realised who it was. I hate to join the band-wagon of Codies-bashers as I think the game physics (with wheel) is a massive leap ahead - BUT THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

This year we have pad traction control which is the biggest cock-up the game has had since the 11-11 springs in F1 2011. This one's actually worse, because that one was same for everyone. However, there are also lots of less urgent bugs that need to be fixed, but don't stop the show. Right now, we can't start our No Assists leagues properly - we're gonna have to scrap the points when the patch finally arrives and start again. How's about two patches this time around, 1 for the show-stoppers ASAP (preferably some time today) and one for the small niggles later on - in your own time. PS:- Question - given that someone at CM thought that compulsory traction control for pad was a good idea, do we trust you deciding what is high and what is low priority? The answer is a categoric NO. OK, 1 patch for pad traction assist and slow turn-in, 1 patch for the rest please.
-
I've had a good moan on here because the pad traction thing would put our no assist leagues in jeopardy, but assuming that CM do patch that, I have to say that they have really caught the essence of the new turbo era. It feels very authentic with my DFGT, yet equally it's also accessible to any of us who are prepared to put the practise in. I'm hooked on the handling, in other words.

Pad already quicker than wheel in F1 2013, why sanitise it even more for F1 2014?
BobbyDeacs posted a topic in General Discussion
We won't be able to start our leagues until a patch is applied to fix this ridiculous issue. Our pad users are complaining about how clumsy and slow the pad is to use now, but also posting lap times up to 2 seconds faster than their fellow wheel users at a similar level. They are reporting exactly the same thing as users on this forum - slow turn-in, way too much traction. Now pad steering assist I get, though it's over-assisted in F1 2013, but traction assist when the pad triggers are so progressive is something I don't understand even a tiny bit. What a shame, if everyone had wheels we could all enjoy & experience the new handling which is better than ever by a mile, -
Here's my interpretation of how I think things went so badly wrong:- Steering - clearly an analogue stick is going to be inferior to a chunky wheel with FFB, so lets help the pad users. Fine, but CM decided that rather than add in a bit of correction, they would simply give the pad a perfect turning circle each time instead. So as of F1 2012, a pad in the hands of an expert has always been slightly quicker than a wheel in the hands of an expert. F1 2013 - no obvious changes, pad still the preferred device for crunching the Time Trial Leaderboards F1 2014 - a lot of pad users still use the X, Square buttons instead of the triggers, so rather than force them onto the correct buttons, CM decided to dumb down acceleration, especially as the turbos were going to make life impossible for the X, Square brigade. So pad users, now you have it all, it steers for you, accelerates for you and brakes for you (forgot to mention brakes, but they seem pretty easy with wheel too TBH. On my side, as a league admin I have two choices now - 1) delay starting our no assists leagues until a patch corrects this monumental cock-up (if there will ever be one - CM have to admit they're wrong for that to happen) or 2) ban pad users from our No Assists Leagues. STUFFED!

Like the closing of DRS when conditions got too bad, they could force the teams to get both drivers onto wets within current or next lap. This would have stopped Bianchi aquaplaning and seems a reasonably simple safety change to implement and enforce. They were only staying out on wrong tyres in anticipation of race end.

@ Hatta - CM to petition Sony/Logitech re-wheel compatibility?
BobbyDeacs posted a topic in General Discussion
How's about it? A lot here would sign and I have about 4 leagues full of DFGT/G25/G27 owners who would sign. What Sony/Logitech have done here is an utter disgrace and will cost you a ton of sales for F1 2015 and it could kill our leagues stone dead. I know several people, including myself, that won't be moving to next gen until this debacle is sorted. There are sites we can go to, but surely a games manufacturer would have more clout? -
I forgot to open this little recurring nugget this year, but how's about a "tiny" bit more resistance to turn when driving in a straight line Codies? If I ever have friends around and show them "this really good F1 game" I've got, the first thing they do when taking the wheel is throw the car about all over the track. I then explain to them that in a straight line you have to hold the wheel like you're holding a butterfly by the wings trying not to damage it, but it's a joke really and something we're so used to we've given up complaining. With PC versions I know there is an XML file you can hack to put in a "MinimumForceFeedback" parameter or something and that if you give it any number over about 0.01 it indices understeer, but really this is more an admission of the physics being wrong if it can't be tuned to work. So yeah, some resistance to turn on straights please CM.

At least in private lobbies, give us the option/ability to have a "master" (the host) who controls when a race starts. With open lobbies I get it 100%, but for private lobbies (i.e. leagues) it is a real pain when someone presses this button straight away.
-
Assuming that updates will reflect the car performance tweaks this could be an annoying problem for online leagues, especially one's which use F1 2015 Performance not the equal car:- You practise in your Marussia all week, finally tame it's oversteer, sign-in on race night, get an update and find the darned thing understeering. Not a deal-breaker, just warning you CM of stuff people will complain about. Certainly that online "equal" car needs to stay constant, for sure.

Just one change that could keep us using F1 2014 in our leagues
BobbyDeacs posted a topic in General Discussion
Just one simple fix will keep us on board - "Give us the ability to keep an online, private lobby together for the duration of a qualifying/race session" - or at least until the race has got under way. This one "simple" thing is "crippling" our leagues:- You start quali, you're not really concentrating, you're just waiting for that dreaded "MR X DISCONNECTED" message. He does and he then "LEAVES THE CHATROOM" and a few seconds later signs-off. Then he re-appears, but can't get back in on the second invite - if you remembered to send it. You're in the middle of your own hotlap, getting messages from him about what happened and trying to decide what to do. He's panicking that he's just disappeared into thin-air and no-one loves him any more. You finish quali, someone presses the continue button too soon so your camera doesn't get all the quali positions. You abort, round everyone up again - your mic's gone dead, so you hope everyone's in chatroom & re-invite them all. You squint through the camera viewfinder and write out all the quali positions on paper - but you missed the guy who put a last second flying lap in. So you bat that about for a while. You set up a new lobby, race only with contrived weather to match what we expected as best as possible. Someone disconnects as soon as it's too late to abort going into the race. You repeat it all, this time letting everyone know the show goes on regardless this time. You start and we do a formation lap with everyone getting into their race positions - but one of them's forgot and gone for it! You let him go, but now people are confused about their positions. You forgot to switch penalties off so people are getting 10 sec pens for illegal blocking whilst trying to let someone past. and someone's been clumsy and knocked off their front wing despite all your guidelines.. the race starts and it dawns on you that YOU are the only one who amidst all of this has forgotten to select his car setup. YOU SHOOT YOURSELF! -
Hatta, please explain what's going on with this & put us out of our misery. The DFGT is by far the majority wheel in our leagues and it will kill us stone dead if it isn't supported. I know it isn't a technical issue as a USB port's a USB port - end of. So why is there so much speculation about this, is it just a load of Sony/Microsoft politics?

The new cars - what you're looking forward to when driving them and what not
BobbyDeacs posted a topic in General Discussion
I'm looking forward to:-All the funny cockpit noises. Fuel "saving" and still trying to be fastNOT mucking about with gear ratios.Seeing how much CM use the simulator data with regards to handling/steering/FFBThe END of the FFB drop-off nonsenseRear end torqueLess tyre managementRealistic down-shiftingI'm not looking forward to:-Driving so slowly around corners. PLEASE KEEP TO TOPIC, THIS IS ABOUT THE "DRIVING" EXPERIENCE. PS:- Stop all the launch speculating guys - "A watched kettle never boils". -
For F1 2012 you (CM) tried to add some realism by insisting that the revs were right before a down-change was allowed or you blew the engine. Quite rightly you backed out on this change as people complained and it was a disadvantage to manual gearbox users. Similarly, the game used to "ignore" gear changes that were made too quickly and again you had to back out of making that realistic as people couldn't tell if they had a hardware problem with the paddles or were just downshifting a bit too quick. This "ignoring" downshifts still exists in F1 2013, but it is VERY lenient now. The result is that the current game allows you to brake and thrash down the gearbox at a silly rate and gain a big advantage with engine-braking in doing so. Its definitely a "skill" but it's not a realistic one. My idea on a compromise solution is as follows - when someone changes down too quickly instead of ignoring the change or blowing the engine, simply put the car into neutral (thus reducing amount of braking) and wait til the revs have dropped sufficiently before selecting the gear. This will reward the driver who changes at the correct revs as you will have to do this to get the full engine-braking effect. Equally no blown up engines and no ignored gear changes, though keeping the last bit at the current tolerance would work just fine.
