    Project CARS

The most compelling reason I can think of is that they want feedback on what they're doing from day one again (which is good, right?), and asking for £50 before you get access to those feedback channels is certainly a good way to filter out the people who'd inevitably sign up just to slag it off and complain.

    Project CARS

They've never claimed the first one is finished, nor is there any suggestion that any of the money they're asking for now will be used for their planned ongoing support of pCars 1. That's the rod they've made for their own back... what they're doing is completely normal development practice for privately funded companies, but it's hard to make it sound attractive when they're asking for the funding from us.

    Project CARS

Tricky one for them, to be fair. It's perfectly normal for developers to start working on their next game as soon as or more usually before the current one launches, even though they plan to support the current one for some time. But the crowdfunding model inevitably means that schedule makes them look a bit money-grabbing. That said, given how well the first one sold, you'd think they could fund the first bit of development with profits from that... but then it might not inspire confidence if they start asking for money halfway through development, either.

F1 2015 Game Ideas and Suggestions

Tyre and fuel scaling was brought back for 2013: http://f1carsetup.com/index.php?/topic/19190-update-from-codemasters/ The difficulty with scaling in shorter races is that pit stops obviously still take the same length of time as they do in a 100% race, so it's not quite as simple as just making the tyres go off four times quicker in a 25%  race as they do in a 100% race... so they made the scaling non linear to try and adjust for that. The result being, in theory, that you can still run some different strategies in a 25% race without having to change some sets of tyres again before you'd barely had time to heat them up.

    F1 2015 No Career mode??

The people who *need* to know before they buy presumably won't therefore have preordered, and will be happy enough to make their decision based on reviews when the game is released. Hardly worth getting in a tizzy about.

    F1 2015 No Career mode??

I dunno, to me it has the sort of career mode that F1 2014's career mode was criticised for on here... start wherever you like, and effectively set your own goals as there isn't much in the way of reward from the game itself. What is wrong with starting anywhere tho? Not necessarily a bad thing at all, as long as the game still gives you a good sense of career progression and rewards you accordingly. But it's easier for the developers to provide that sort of experience if they just offer you two or three well-defined career paths... if you can do what you like, things inevitably end up feeling a bit generic.

    F1 2015 No Career mode??

You say that as if it was just a case of handing over the keys to a new owner :) Even if they wanted it, the licence would presumably cost Slightly Mad Studios at least the same seven figure sum that it reputedly costs CM... and that's a lot of dosh to spend on a game that would probably somewhat cannibalise their PCars (or more likely PCars 2) sales, assuming they'd have to make it a separate title to do it justice.

    No, it won't, I'm afraid.

I doubt anybody actually thinks it's a *good* idea. But I'm sure there are reasons why they think that not doing it will get a decent product out the door in a reasonable timeframe, as opposed to a great product a year later.

Maybe. Nowadays companies just release a day one patch for that sort of thing.

To be fair, embargoed preview events aren't unusual in the industry, and talking to anyone about what you saw in one when you've been asked not to is a good way to make sure you never get invited to another one.

They've said they won't release the list of supported wheels while they're still fixing bugs in one or two wheel drivers that may or may not get done in time. So I'm afraid, as with everything else, we'll have to wait.

Nothing wrong with talking about it on the forum. Just in the appropriate place please, so people who don't particularly want to read about it don't have to plough through it to find the on-topic stuff.

Then can't we just let this thread die until there's something to discuss? I know nature abhors a vacuum, but really, it's perfectly fine not to post something to a forum when there's nothing new to say on that topic.

Who said FA "feels" wrong?  Off the top of my head, I think YouTubers EmptyBox and AOR Fisi (who both do a good bit of PC sim racing) and AlexZafro (who's more on casual Codies F1 gamer end of the scale) have all said much the same thing, and I've heard it from one or two others as well (sorry I can't remember who, off-hand).

One thing in CM's favour might be that in quite a few videos I've seen of both sim racers and F1 YouTubers playing Project Cars, they've said that of all the cars in the game they've tried, the Formula A car in particular just feels "wrong".  (Even ignoring the silliness of being able to use DRS anywhere during a race.)

Nobody has said they can't. We know they can, as they've done it in every other F1 game. They've just chosen not to for this one, supposedly because it would break the immersive experience they're trying to create with all the new driver specific commentary lines and animations. Time will tell. As for closed press demos, they're not unique to CM by a long chalk. Nobody expected a public demo this time around because they've never done one before... I'd say that's the least of most people's concerns about the game.

If they approved 2013, they could hardly not approve 2014, given that it was basically the same game...

Writing to one bunch of numpties to complain about a different bunch of numpties hardly seems worth the effort, tbh.

My guess is it won't be, at least not this year. Rallying is a comparatively niche sport compared to F1, so they have less to lose by trying out something a bit different with that franchise. Plus I'd imagine the licensors they have to deal with for DiRT are far less control-freaky than FOM. But if Rally proves to be a runaway success then yes, perhaps Codies will be able to go to FOM when the F1 licence is up for renewal next year with some sales facts and figures and say "see, this is what driving game fans really want".

I'd guess it's actually considerably longer than that. They'll have been working on next-gen stuff long before 2014 came out, I think.
