DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
thecraicbear replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
If they couldn't get the 2015 Ford, I wouldn't have much hope for any 2015 car at all. I'd wager probably too closely tied up with the WRC license. Urgh, I hate it that those shit bastards have the WRC license. Why must the WRC persist in appointing newbies after Evo Studios stopped doing those games. -

He's now chosen a sport in which he can just disappear into the desert and think about his life. -

Pretty unfair on the guys in the dev team considering they only had a year to make a game that was new to them, but I can't say that I'm surprised that a WRC game (not made by Evo Studios) is in a bad state. -

I was hoping for a casual alternative to DiRT for when I wanna derp about without concentrating too much, but by the looks of some user reviews the game is pretty bad full-stop. -
Starting to get really annoyed at how much of an absurd jump it is from Professional to World Class, even more so than last year. Tried some custom slider settings but it just makes the game feel really odd. The CPU are very unrealistic and relentless in their approach to the game, so I'm having to keep it on Professional for now.

Conclusion: If you want a more pure, crisp and challenging experience, then PES will suit you down to the ground. It's a shame about the lack of licensing for some of the leagues straight out the box, but I grew up in an era when gameplay was pretty much everything over appearance, so it doesn't tarnish the experience all that much. Build-up play feels nice and snappy, and makes for a very flowing game of football. However, with FIFA, there's a massive emphasis on the unpredictability of football, and I appreciate their angle, though it feels a bit too inconsistent at times. It's still a very playable game, and I'm having just as much fun on FIFA as I am on PES, for separate reasons. You can't fault the presentation and the content in FIFA, and it ends up being a great bonus to some relatively solid gameplay. tl;dr - PES hardcore, FIFA more casual; both good games in their own unique ways.

You need to create the lobby in multiplayer, and once that's done there should be an invite feature on the left, which will then open your steam friends list for you to invite your friend. -

Somewhere in the world Sébastien Loeb is sitting at his computer, watching that video and thinking "merde". Actual LOL. You know what the most unbelievable thing is? For the past 5 or 6 years, the main criticism has been that the sounds of the rally cars are lifeless, tinny and generally naff. Yet, here we are again, watching another reveal video from that company with their unchanged mix of wasps in an empty tin can. Doh! On a positive note, the game, visually, looks decent. Although, the physics (even for an arcade game) don't look natural, and obviously the sounds are horrendous. -

No. SLRE maybe, but not WRC 5, because it's made by Kylotonn, who is a dreadful developer who has produced only total garbage. Milestone is a tried-and-trusted high quality dev in comparison. From the previews, I'd say WRC5 looks the better of a bad duo. Don't think I'll be forking out for either though. I'd argue that Milestone are just rehashing the same engine that's been rubbish for 4 iterations now, whereas Kylotonn might have produced utter tripe before, but this is a new game and new team for them, so I'm prepared to listen at least. Ultimately we won't know until both are released. I know who I'd like back making the WRC arcade-sim games, but Evo Studios are long gone on a different path, which is such a shame. I think the thing to do for both SLRE and WRC5 is to wait a few weeks for both reviews and mass community feedback on Steam forums and the like, and see what the better option is. I do hope that WRC5 ends up being a good quality arcade-sim, because I've adored the WRC since I was a lad, so I'm still a sucker for an official license. -

This game has the potential to be a good arcade alternative to DiRT Rally. However, right now, the sound (as usual from the new wave of WRC games) gives me a huge headache for the wrong reasons, and the gameplay, though leaning towards arcade, still looks very, very unnatural. The roads being too wide is also an opinion I shouldn't have to state, but I will do anyway. -

I'll give it a go first, hopefully there's not too many idiots. Hmm, maybe I will too, but I've had awful experiences of RX and racing games in public lobbies, which is why I'm not too keen. Because the game is aiming more for realism, I'm hoping that will filter a lot of the idiots out. -

I'll not be racing in public lobbies when the RX update comes out, because there'll be the usual suspects piling into people on the first corner without actually intending to race. Private lobby for the win, with the Vajb crew.
