DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I think a new game wouldn't need to be that much more taxing visually. Updated handling model and a lot more content would do the trick, and maybe some small touches on the graphics side. I think the current generation of consoles probably can do a lot more on the CPU simulation side even though their GPUs are pushed to the limit.

Hmm...that's annoying. Are you enabling any of the stages in your events as checkpoints?  A decently simple solution would be to just allow on single Alt-F4 per checkpoint, more and you get thrown out of the event. So if it's a checkpoint on SS3, and I Alt-F4 on SS5 I go back to SS3. But if I Alt-F4 again on SS4 after that I get an immediate resignation. That way you can do an emergency Alt-F4 without fucking up your complete event while stopping the Alt-F4 abuse. What do you really need Alt-F4 for? You can always pause the game if you must. But if you crash, you crash. Go on regardless or retire, that's my view. So I'm with RinusRally here. I'm not really comfortable with leaving the game on using shitloads of electricity and running all the fans at full load for hours (or even days) when a sudden family emergency comes up. Sometimes the computer I use as my gaming computer needs to be used for other things. Suffice to say, I bet there are a lot of us who really need to be able to Alt-F4 in the middle of a league or monthly event once or twice per month.

WRC will hopefully liven up in 2017. The new car specs with more power might help more ballsy drivers to challenge Ogiers clean driving.

That looks... kinda boring. Will be fun to see Hirvonen and Solberg again if those names are correct :-)

Ogier seems way too strong this year aswell. The manufacturers title seems more open this year though :-) But the quest for a challenge to Ogier goes on. 2017 season will be interesting with a fully supported Meeke, Paddon doing his best and hopefully Evans returning to WRC filled with confidence after his WRC2 run.

Even if they're looking at doing Dirt Rally 2 down the line I still think they're going to do one or two DLCs with locations and maybe a car or two for DR1. Wouldn't expect one before fall or winter though.

So... renaults and pikes peak gravel sounds likely. Maybe Barcelona RX. Cars did have the sound of "more than 2" though, so I'm going to irrationally keep my hopes up for a SAAB 96.

Yes please. I'm sick and tired of the Fiesta, bring on the proper rally Ford :D  I must confess I much prefer the look of the Fiesta over the Focus. Ford will be keen to market the Focus RS though, so I using the Focus would make sense from a PR point. The Fiesta is bigger then the Chevette, Sunbeam & Escort which all felt like real rally cars back in their day. I think it helped having the homologation specials as road going cars. These days it seems from a size perspective the Fiesta and Polo work as rally cars yet the roadgoing top performance versions are reserved for the more expensive Focus and Golf models. Obviously this is to maximise profits but it seems a shame we can't have the rally car matching the road car, then perhaps we wouldn't feel as if rally cars had become fast shopping cars? Fully agree! I have been hoping for a number of years that Ford would produce an RS version of the Fiesta but, as you say, that sort of treatment seems to be reserved for the bigger models in the range. Rumours are still that both a Fiesta RS and Polo R will come but it looks likely they will still fit in a hierarchy where the bigger brother Focus and Golf will be quicker. I'd love to see both be real beasts! Seems the Polo R is unlikely as VW wouldn't be able to slot it in between a Polo GTI and  Golf GTI price wise. It is a real shame the car hierarchy prevents the rally car having a decent road equivalent. For me it rather divorces rallying from road cars and the fact that VW have won the WRC with a Polo becomes a bit irrelevant when you wouldn't look twice at the road car in its sportiest form and the WRC Polo looks nothing like you could buy on the road. I do yearn for the old homologation days where you could associate the rally cars of the time with their road counterparts. Agreed. Either go "it's a road car with some tweaks" or "Group B muddafackas", the middle road is always kind of bland.

Meeke takes the lead at monte. Kind of sad that he's not doing a full season. Btw, is WRC+ worth it?

I sure hope they make an exception for fixing leagues. Kinda sucks if leagues will be broken for two months more.
