Well I rebutted with a completely abysmal performance in Wales @UnderclassGDfan 😄 About the only good part was that the car actually held up to the end, which I thought it wasn't going to!
-
First leg of germany done. Managed to touch the inside of a corner on SS1 that made the car go up on two wheels, smashed slowly but firmly into a hinkelstein on the outside. Lucky go not get any serious damage. SS2-3 felt fine.
Got to the end, but three mistakes that cost a lot of time. SS4 I managed to touch something on the inside and I spun, and on SS6 I was overoptimistic and overshot a fast corner and got stuck on a hinkelstein, SS7 I spun once again from touching something on the inside.
But on a good note, all spins were due to me driving badly, so car felt really nice all the way 🙂

New replacement T300 with sparco rim has arrived! I'm back in the fight!

Ordered a new T300 with sparco wheel today. Not what I wanted to do, but if I get the old one running again I can always sell it to recover a bit of the cost. Hope to be back in action in a few days.

Did leg 1 of NZ, went OK except overpushing a few times so had at least one off per stage.
Then thought I'd make use of the sun today, went out climbing, came home, decided to vacuum since I dragged a lot of dirt inside. When I vacuumed around the wheel I got a sudden flash from static electricity, and then it wouldn't work....
So I'll try to order a new PSU for it, but will probably not be able to drive for a little while.

But touching the ditches is the little death that leads to the big one....

Yeah, after some testing on endurance events softs work better than mediums even for 12xlong stage events.
My Finland was weird but decent. Almost got a good setup, but not quite. Couldn't find what caused it, but some impacts just bottomed out the car. So had to go cautious. On the flip side, just had one small overshoot on SS6 costing me about 10s as any major trouble for the whole run, so panned out OK in the end.

Finally found the sweet spot for the RS200, where it was predictable and allowed me to push a bit. SS1-2 in australia were fun and decently fast, then on SS3 I was so pleased that I tried to push a weeeee bit too much and cut a corner... smashed something and punctured. Oh well, at least it was a pure driver error this time 🙂

Yeah, you kept on. I wasn't comfortable at all in the RS200. Also max unluck with two rather small touches messing up my engine on leg 1, and on leg 2 a really small shunt gave me a rear left puncture. No matter, couldn't keep pace with you anyway. Just having a really hard time finding a balance between controllability and grip with the RS200, seems like I just change the way it wants to kill me however I set it up 😛 So deceptive, it just feels really good to drive then it snaps around.

Worst run ever in Sotland.
Had a too loose setup for leg 1, so had no control at speed. Hit some stuff on the side at speed, lots of rolls and a puncture on SS2.
Adjusted the setup for leg 2, and it felt quite good. But that meant I was faster, and the RS200 is temperamental at best. Messed up the front in some places, so spun and wrecked the engine. Meh. On a good note, finally felt like the general setup idea started to work for me, so hope to use it as a base setup for the rest of the season.
-
**** setup for the first leg, did some on the fly changes for second leg. Still not good, but faster than before. Had a little fight with @Janneman60 until SS7, where I managed to puncture somehow.
-
*sigh*
Had a decent setup, but a bit top heavy and somewhat jittery at speed. So couldn't push hard... tried on SS4, rolled on a quick section after a light hit just flipped the car over. Went back to a slower approach for SS5-6, then tried some setup changes for SS7 again... and rolled. Meeeeeeeh.

"I remember enjoying driving the RS200", I thought. Whooops...
Didn't help that I muddled the setup and went out on the wrong tyres for the first leg 😄 Think I had four spins on one stage...

And I am extremely unsure, wich class I should choose.
Most here seem to want R5 again, to do a Fiesta R5 MkII only run, right?
I actually would love to choose Group B 4WD and would hope nobody uses the Delta and 205.
I believe that would be a extremely exciting battle between the other 3 cars.
I also had H3 RWD or Group B RWD in mind, to switch regularly between 4WD and RWD.
Not sure...I mean, how high are the chances we get Group B 4WD in the near future, if I don't choose it now? 😄
But if nobody is interested in my idea, I choose whatever most prefer.
I'd love the restricted GrB 4WD!

I'll go ahead then and choose the World Rally calendar. Unless @Dytut wants to trade up, so I can exclude Spain for the season. Your call, mate.
Anybody else?
So my choice... then I'll exclude Poland!

I did the first two stages, then I was so disgusted with the Fabia that I just left it. Once again it just random kills me.
-
Ss9 turkey, wheeling death.
-
I feel you @Snaky115. I front flipped pretty much on complete random aswell. And not the first time with the Fabia.
That's one thing that pretty much never has happened to me with the Fiesta, so at least not as prevalent with that R5 chassi. But then again, I've pretty much no experience with the pug or space star R5s, so no idea how they behave.
-
I've come to the conclusion that I really, really, *really* don't like the Fabia in gravel spec. Tarmac seems to work fine, but whatever I do the gravel spec car just randomly tries to kill me. This time I went with pretty much vanilla settings, and it worked fine until it suddenly tried to kill me. Then tried to remedy that with some settings at service, which made it try to kill me in different ways. Then tried adjust that for the last stage, and it tried to kill me in other ways.
I've driven a bit with the Fiesta R5 and the Polo R5, and both of them are so much easier and less random than the Fabia for me. The Fiesta is the most kind, the Polo slightly more twitchy but can be handled. The Fabia is just completely schizo, feeling even more mellow and controlled than even the Fiesta until provoked just slightly and it suddenly just bites my head off.
-
Thanks for taking all the bad luck on that one @Snaky115, I made it through the whole event with no major incidents! First this season! 😄

Stage 5 - Fortunately i got out of this pickle instantly to continue this bumpy run of USA. Lost 2-3 in each stage since i kept cussing out High deg+Wet combo the entire time i was driving.
I managed to go even worse in SS5. Not my season 😛

20 hours ago, onabike said:I can not get competitive in the fast tarmac sections. I am using an R2 208, can set stage winning times on twisty sections but just have no confidence on the fast sections, the lift off oversteer is just ridiculous. Am using GTR technical set-ups which in tarmac just don't suit my driving style! Any suggestions on how to dial out at least some of the lift-off oversteer?
PS I have tried not lifting off, and I just crash hence the nervousness!Well there are many ways. Toe in and more negative camber on the rear would be a first thing to try.
Fiddling with the rear suspension settings can also be useful, but that's a bit tricky. A bit softer dampers usually gives more grip, but can make it unstable instead.

No big mishaps in Monte, but two small spins on SS1 and SS2. Felt fine after that, but no big pace either. But it's Monte, getting to the finish is good enough 😄
