Weird that both Neuville and Sordo thinks they drove well but are behind on time. Something fishy with the i20 setup? Or has Meeke and Ogier really hit the setup jackpot?

Neuville lost quite a bit in the first two stages. He felt nervous apparently. I think he's driving with a bit of reserve because of that. He HAS to score points.

Post interview after SS4 he said he pushed but still couldn't keep up with the lead. To quote him: "I'm running for my life. I feel like we're on the edge everywhere. We are close to the limit and we have to calm down a bit."

Both Sordo and Paddon also said they feel like they drive fast, but the time just isn't there.

when Dirt 4 is out will you start on Dirt Rally 2.0 ?

will there be a return ?

    There are many possible scenarios.

DiRT 4 is still two months away from release and @KickUp is already sowing the seeds of future DiRTy Gossip!

Read it, and... WRC 2018 or 2019? :-D Think about it, no WRC cars and no WRC stages due to "licensing issues". Can it be that they're looking to keep all those assets ready for a possible licensed WRC game? :-) One can always speculate ;-)

  3. Shakedown usually doesn't say much, but here it is:

Looks like we'd suspect, everyone pretty close except for Evans, Lefebvre and Hänninen.

I'd write up Paddon as a dark horse for Corsica. He seems to be in a good mood, and I saw some onboards from his R5 run in San Remo and it looked quite good.

    So final predictions....

    1. Neuville
    2. Latvala
    3. Ogier

  4. Well this season surely hasn't been kind to me. Started off with good pace on SS1, but did a slight mistake on a fast part that threw me off track. But managed to miss the trees, only a slight touch on the rear. Got back on track and... "is that a rear right puncture". Got the the finish line, started SS2 in a good mood. Went just slightly wide and put the rear in the ditch. Normally that's nothing, this time it was "rear left puncture". Fuming, I stopped and repaired it. Lost my temper, overdrove a crest and bounced off into a retirement when both front wheels fell off.

Yeah. I'm not in love with the S4 right now.

I appologise if this has already been posted here but I found it really interesting to see the work that goes into providing the first class sound effects we enjoy in Dirt Rally and in Dirt 4. Will all the cars in Dirt 4 have real life recordings @KickUp ?

We get as many as we can. Some cars are very hard to source but we aim to get the real deal whenever it is possible.

  6. I was hoping to give you a challenge @Scyy, but my focus was gone this morning and had maximum bad luck. Every small mistake gave huge consequences; a small knock which usually just unsettles the car a little sent me off track och spun me, had three sloooow slides into spectators, beached the car twice. Not sure if I could've beaten you anyways, but would have been fun to see. Oh well, see you in Finland! :-)

Ogiers gearbox found to be OK :-)
I would hate to see any driver punished for something that was out of their hands, but a part of me was hoping that they would penalize him so he would have to drive even harder to regain those points!
To be quite honest a part of me was hoping for that aswell. Ogier hunting from behind would be a nice change of pace instead. Now he's back at the lead, where he can drive comfortably as long as he beats the 2nd place in the championship. And tactical driving like that is one of his major strengths.

  8. Well done @Snaky115, impressive to handle the quattro suspension with a keyboard :-D Congratulations to the win!

And honorary mentions must go to @Headquake. I tried my hand at challenging the 4WD with the 037 last time we had this car setup but I was far behind on every event but sweden, but you challenged for the win with the Manta. Very impressive :-)

  9. SS1 and 2 were a bit sloppy, lost 4-5 seconds on a spin on SS1 and about 10 seconds on 2 spins on SS2. All three were me being a bit lazy with keeping away from the banks, and the catapult effect. The rest of the stages I cooled down a bit and focused on being clean. Had one more small issue and lost a few seconds on SS5, bad braking in the dark.

Had a good time with the quattro overall, but felt like I could go a bit faster if I'd focused more.

if i was going to go to a place codemasters would seem a great choice.seems very friendly with great people working there. B)
Same here :-) Unfortunately game companies rarely need my expertice in back end stuff :-/ Though I would love to work on optimizing racenet web backend and API calls, I have a feeling that it could be made quite a bit faster :-)
One day, perhaps. I'll keep chugging away on my provisioning services for networking hardware in the meantime. Which is much more glamorous than game developer, just so you know...  :-P
