Final race of the season done!
Finally managed to get a working setup, and the car wasn't too unpredictable! Managed a clean run that felt decently fast, and with very few moments. Biggest moment was on SS7 where I overshot a bit due to the worn tyres and lost a few seconds.
-
Wow, made a completely **** setup apparently. First leg was completely undriveable, no idea what I was thinking. Changed half the car setup on a whim at mid service and it was OK after that. But I lost about a minute from sheer setup incompetence in the first leg.

But since more than a month there wasn't a single problem with RaceNet for me.
At least 6 weeks now, longest time in a row since release of the game.Yes, depends on how fast you were and how far off the track when resetting on track.
Got a minute time penalty in finland a while ago.
Were you've been in USA? 😥
Now my usual summary 😄Finland:
Did several test runs before to get better feel for the car on that track.
On SS1 I was very cautious, but also quite slow.
Same on SS2: I was more than 8 seconds down after the long straight with those huge jumps and tried to push a bit more to not fall far behind.
But I crashed and got a puncture...
SS3 was just driving slowly on 3 wheels. Still crashed a few times.
Car was completely broken at the service area, could only repair engine and radiator and still got a time penalty for that.
SS4-SS7: Car was slow and had basically no turbo. Some crashes still happend.
Scotland:
Did some test runs before, but was unreliable like Finland.
SS1 was ok, but cautious. Barely could follow @Dytut's pace.
SS2 and SS3 were pretty god and fast. Was on a run now.
SS4: Hit a tree stomp on the left in the 4th(?) corner, got punched to the right into the ditch and crashed against a log.
I could brake a bit, so the impact wasn't that big, but still puncture on the front right.
Drove on 3 wheels until the finish in SS6. Was quite good, no crashes, spins or whatever. Car was also ok, except the missing tyre, lol.
SS7 was quite good, could fully repair the car and was quite fast.
I was sure by now the championship was gone, because I was 3 minutes down, what would have been possible for me here.
USA:
WHAT A RALLY! 😄
That was a really close battle all the way between me, @Dunoon and @denim398!
Unfortunately Dunoon seemed to have crashed in SS5. I crashed there too midway through.
Even with a roll, but only cost a few seconds and no real damage.
I was slightly too fast and touched the outside hill and rolled slowly and back on the wheels 😄
Right after the finish on SS7 I thought I lost to denim398, only realising seconds later that I lost the time to Dunoon and gained on denim398.
Wohoo! 2nd rally win this championship and now leading!Let's settle this in the snow! Monte and Sweden left 😄

Ah yes. Scotland.
Went with a slightly tweaked Finland setup since that felt decent. Had a small off on SS2, but was generally hampered by severe understeer again.
Did some suspension changes at service, which I hope would make the front more responsive. And ooooooh yes, it did! It was awesome to drive! 😄 But I was so in the mindset of understeer that I turned in too hard and bumped a stone on the inside. Killed the engine and punctured. Limped through SS5 and 6, max speed was about 50. Repaired the engine but nothing else for SS6, so was extremely down on power there since the turbo was pretty much dead. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Did my run. Was overall clean, no real moments. Was close to the limit sometimes but without overshooting it. Think I did as good as I could in the Impreza '08, the suspension in that car is simply not meant for Finland. Horrible experience.
-
I don't often make setups before rallies, but this time I had to take a little time and see if I could sort out the Imprezas suspension before Finland... and it's almost impossible. Suffice to say, this is not a car I will return to. Worst of the 2000cc class.
-
Finally starting to get somewhat to terms with the Scooby '08. Did the first leg with a decent but not great setup, but did some small adjustments for leg 2 and managed to get it dialed in to grip like hell on the front. Some small adjustments for SS7 where it just felt quite good for the first time on gravel!
Shame I lost focus in the first left 1 on SS1 and punctured 😛

Current plans for 22 is to have the exact same engine as now.

Set the rear two clicks to the right compared to the front and you get a car which is a bit more tailhappy. Knowing that you can set it up for your personal best by fidling a bit with the cambersettings.
It's not understeering all the time, just when trying to get power down into the corners. Seemed to have solved the worst of it by fiddling with the rear damper extension settings.

I imagine degraded NZ could be a nightmare on it, with some ruts being enough to trigger a bottom-out. It is not a slow car at least.
Yeah that's my experience too. On tarmac it's great, but in on the gravel events so far it's been really hard to set up to be both fast and predictable.
In Aus I went for high and hard, and it just bottomed out at what felt like completely random times. In Poland I went high and soft, which made it more predictable but was like driving it on stilts. For NZ I went somewhere in between, and managed to find somewhat near decent settings for SS7 after some adjustments, but up until that I had some really weird understeer in the middle of the corners. I think I might be zoning in to a decent baseline setup for gravel with that, but it's been rough.

Just can't find a good setup for the Impreza, I manage to get some unpredictable behaviour any which way I go 😕
-
After the debacle in Australia I decided to go for an opposite setup for Poland, aiming for a controlled run with no issues. Feels like I was braking waaaaay too much, but kept to the lines so might be OK. Could've pushed a lot more, had grip to spare. Just one small off on SS3 where I misremembered a corner. I thought it was one of the 3 that was a 5, but it was a 3 that was almost at 2. Whoops 😄

In my frustration to find a solution for my incapability to finish a rally without issues on a decent pace I tried to start as the very first with no one in front showing a time I have to beat.
Didn't worked out, still crashed hard on SS2 on a tree. Puncture.
In the 2nd leg on SS5 the exact same thing happened again (on a different spot) and I rage-quitted.Oh well, I see a big lead for Dytut incoming 😄
Well I did almost as bad. Punctured on leg 1, had to limp home on SS3. Couldn't fix up the car, then went ahead and punctured on SS5 and almost DNF:ed. And punctured again on SS6.
It was my bad, really. Tried to just make a setup on the fly, and it worked horrendously. Understeery and unpredictable. Tried to adjust it at midway service, but turns out I just removed a small bit of twitchyness for a bucketload of understeer.
As soon as someone doesn't completely destroy their car they'll beat me by about 5 minutes 😄

So Greece went suprisingly well. I decided to follow it up by epic failing Australia as hard as possible.
-
I was first out in Greece, so no idea what tempo. But was quite uneventful, smooth and felt a bit slow. So not a win, but hopefully a top 5 🙂
-
*sigh*
Long work day, thought I'd be able to drive. Went OK for the start, but lost focus a bit on SS4 and went off. Thought I'd try to push on but lost focus even more on SS5 and went off three or four times.... Meeeeeh.
-
Allright... I want real Wales! All six stages in full on rain, but the final seventh stage in full sunshine! 😄
-
Whooo!
I could hold my own against @baunau with H/clutch in Sweden 😄
Managed a really ****** mistake on SS5 where I went off into the spectators and reset (tried to carry a bit too much speed 😛 ), but other than that I felt comfortable. Baunau had a big three second gap before the last short stage, so I decided that I was going to push a bit and see if it was possible to claw that back. And it was possible 😄 I'm now in the lead by 0.7 seconds.
Some misshifts still, but not too bad and most often not where the time loss was too great. Starting to understand the philosophy behind the H-shifter cars, the long gears where you have enough torque to stay on the wrong gear and still have some power really helps when you can't just flick in a downshift mid corner. If I had the flow, I even kept 5th while going through combination of 3-4 corners.

Well now, I managed to get through Scotland. Barely. Not comfortable on the stages yet, and keep finding myself in the wrong gear a lot of the time as I don't have a good feel for which are fast three that I can do in fifth or slow three to be done in third.
Overshot a few corners, and went off a few times, and managed to spin a few times aswell. Overall, rather crappy performance. But really fun to blast through Scotland with the Legacy 🙂

Wow, really pleased with P4 in Wales. So pleased that I had to botch it completely in Poland 😄 Think I had three resets, multiple stops on other business. When it worked, I did have some real nice feeling for the car, but lack of concentration and some misshifts.

Whoo! You were faster, but I wasn't completely demolished 😄
-
Finally, my first event that wasn't catastrophic with H-shifter!
Was too slow on the pedals in one place and went off and had to reset, but otherwise it felt decent. Still won't be fast, but it's going to be interesting for me to compare with the times of you fast guys 🙂

Way off pace in Germany, really struggling with H-shift/clutch on tarmac. Didn't help that I had one puncture on SS2 on a place where I've never even thought there was something to hit 😛
Also, I got quite a few hairy moments when the default setup on the Legacy bit me hard. The sway bars are pretty hard, and touching the inside of a corner tends to put the car on two wheels. Ended up on my roof once, managed to keep on the road the other times but smashed my engine on SS4.

Grats @UnderclassGDfan! Fun fight throughout the season 😄
Now for the next season, I will choose a car that I actually enjoy. The Subie '08 was simply horrible to drive, definitely my least favourite car of the game.
