I just played some BeamNG after their new (and rather large and impressive update) and it's actually way more intense to me than DR. They have some mountain roads and trails, and trying to blast through them without touching anything puts you on the edge of your seat, even at low speeds. At the end of a run it can be kind of neat to see how much damage you suffered, with everything from small dents and scrapes, to missing body panels, and of course if you screw up, complete destruction and race over. So, at least in BeamNG's case, it has the graphical AND physical damage heads and shoulders above the rest. All the other sim games have a pretty weak damage system in both regards. Sideswiping a tree at 40 mph in DR ends in you sort of bouncing off, maybe your steering rack is a bit misaligned. BeamNG will deform the chassis itself and thus provide a realistic feeling of damage. It's some more visceral and visual feedback that really helps with immersion. Even racing in AC or PCars with damage on I'm not afraid to hop curbs or grind walls/opponents, even up to some decent knocks, whereas in Beam you could blow your tire, rip it off, ruin your steering rack, create an exhaust leak from bottoming out too hard (Which sure isn't implemented in any sim I know,) damage the radiator and overheat the engine, break a fuel line, ruin your driveshaft... and it's all physical as well as visual. Yeah, sure in AC and PCars if you have a 200mph collision it'll put you out, but they sure don't do any justice to the actual eventualities of real racing. It is great, but the only reason they can do that is because the cars are not licensed. A real manufacturer would never let you do that to their cars!

I think we actually changed the percentage depending on the platform. :p Funnily, despite the fact that I only use cockpit camera, I only got the achievement recently when I got my wheel, as I used to change occasionally on a controller to the outside to assess and damage or check for punctures, so it never counted as the achievement when I won!

'I am the 7.7 per cent' is hands down the best!

I remember cheats on the Xbox 360 leaderboards in dirt 2. And I've seen cheats on dirt rally on Xbox one too

well thank you. Then I have one more question Will there be bridges and railroad crossings? There were cattle grids in Australia!

Brexit - retire from a welsh rally or lydden hill rallycross

So according to that, you could have four drivers, but only three would be able to count for points, and only two of those can actually score points? Basically a fourth driver is pointless and may as well be in a second team -
POPCORN! - play on gamer handling

Whilst driving real life stages is pretty cool, I'd rather have loads of good detail, fictional stages than one very detailed real stage
-
I think your stage would be perfect for a wrc game. Past games have always had the issue with loads of locations with hardly any stages. A game with 13 locations and unlimited stages would be pretty special

I like the new 3 driver, 2 scoring system, but I agree with what Hyundai were saying the other week. If Hyundai were to get first, second and third in a rally, and say a ford came fourth, Hyundai should get the points for first and second and the ford should get the points for third, whereas currently no one would pick up third place points and the ford would only get fourth place points. If they had 4 cars, this would only make this problem worse, essentially blocking other teams from scoring points -
Try to be objective. Those are not popping-in objects but self-shadows applied on those objects. Mostly trees. It might depends on gfx settings. Yeah, I've seen some kind of 'mothership' shadow bug, but the same thing was appearing in D:R after realeas, and even today, is present for VR view. Regarding steering... I would say, f*** game pads. Want precise steering? Use steering wheel. If you asking for translation of 90* degree rotation (about 8cm) into a few mm done with small stick... you asking for some aid/assistence. You don't know what aids are on. Maybe tester has chosen harcore sim with realistic assists. And yes, there are 3 months before PC release which gives a lot of time to tune up some stuff like controllers filtering etc. You really can't discount controller users, not everybody can afford to have a wheel or has the space for one. And as previously said, the controller gameplay in dirt rally and dirt 4 is incredibly good. Whilst no, it's not a quick or precise as a wheel, you can still be very competitive with a pad. Plus I'd imagine that the vast majority of console players don't have a wheel, and probably a big percentage of pc users too. I couldn't play PC1 on my Xbox controller at all, I gave up after several hours on it. The Clio was just about manageable, everything else was just stupid. Dirt rally on the other hand was miles superior

Does anyone know how the rules would work if it was four wrc cars? Are all 4 eligible to score points with the two highest places taking it, or is it 3 cars max with a fourth in a secondary team like last year? I would think an r5 is more likely, Hyundai seem keen to get the r5 out on wrc rounds to promote it as a winning car -

I've said it before, Sordo is consistent, but just consistently average. Rarely gets a good result, just always finishes. Mikkelsen deserves the seat more -
I thought from my GCSE German it was pronounced with a 'v'? No, I remember my teacher telling me not to do that!

That is awesome! Never new they existed! Have learned something new today :) but......are you telling me that Dirt4....nahhh...forget it... ;) @Teuchter Whaaaa lovely sound! Very cool :D Seems to have the body of a Peug 207! It was a one off build by Andy Burton, used to compete on U.K. national events until it sadly got banned a few years back. Used to love the sound of that car through a forest

Some of the 1.4s cars that compete in the U.K. sound pretty awesome https://youtu.be/fvrAk4GnjFM

Do you want to add more anxiety? Just see this vid and you Will go to Codemasters HQ to steal a copy now LOL https://youtu.be/fwkwk369S88 The view from the side windows makes it look a lot faster than it is. If you cover those up so you can only see the windscreen it doesn't look quite as fast! Still driving at a fair speed though.

I assume pad users will once again get the short stick too. I bought PC1:LE day one on the PS4 and seriously struggled with the controller settings. It was managable for most of the time once getting it dialed in but I still ended spending way too much time in the menus. Played at tops an hour of it on the XB1. Thank God that it was free. Absolute trash. Yep, I've said that on here before. It's just unplayable with a controller. It's better with a wheel now that I've got one, but I'm still not a big fan of it.

It looks decent, but from the video I'd say the suspension is no where near as good as dirt rally or 4, and the car the cars change direction seems a little off. They seem to move about almost instantly without having to set the car up too much. Still, hard to tell from gameplay videos
-
I'd be pretty impressed if it's any where near as good as dirt 4's rallycross. Especially as they've had the help of petter. After getting PC1 free with Xbox live the other month, I wasn't too impressed with the handling

Neuville did manage to pick up powestage points on the first two events. Unfortunately he has lost all marginfor error now by already having those two offs this early on -

Yeah, last year we had something like 5 or 6 different winners on the trot, but Ogier kept coming second or third, which meant he just kept extending his lead! Cracking start to the season though, and a brilliant rally! Unfortunately I was away rallying myself on Saturday and away watching other motorsport on Sunday, so I didn't get to watch any of it -
Off topic, but im back from an incredibly bumpy Somerset Stages, which showed just how far a good set of suspension would get you! Unfortunately ours wasn't up to it and the car is pretty bent. Hopefully I'll get some footage uploaded tomorrow as my laptop is absolutely useless at the moment. https://twitter.com/mike_evett/status/851179508975751168 Caught a spectator of lying on the outside of a bend filming with an iPad, so I made sure that the marshals got him moved out the way!

Anyone know the answer for this ? @KickUp Don't think so, I think it's just leaderboards and possibly things like the daily ad weekly challenges
