Had a look at the vid with the RX car of Bakkerud at dirtfish. Very disapointing to see the bonnet fly of with no real reason. I've seen that in other games and it looks soooo arcade. In real life the bonnet rarely goes of except in the first 100 meters when a mechanic didn't fit it right. B) @kickup is this also in dirt 4 using simulation? If so please re-think... @kickup, do/can mechanics make mistakes when repairing and servicing the car? You could see that he had crashed several times head on before that happened, that's why it came off. In real life it would more likely probably fly up in front of the windscreen rather than come off completely, but unfortunately dirt 4 is CLEARLY A POPCORN GAME FOR ARCADE PLAYERS!!!1!1!!!!!!!!

They don't have the optimization skill that Codies have. Imo, Codies are one of the best, making the games run very smooth. Goes to show that with some effort, you can get a beautiful looking game that runs great. Witcher 3 is another one that got it right. All racing games should target 60fps, 30fps on a racing sim is just nasty if you want to make those reactive movements Yeah, I played forza horizon loads when it first came out, when I eventually put dirt rally back into my Xbox after a couple of weeks, I could not believe the difference between 30fps and 60! It was mad how much smoother dirt looked. I'd never really thought or cared about it before then as it's probably the first racing game I've had that runs that smoothly. Also, the unveiling of project Scorpio earlier has got me very interested, although I have no idea what all those numbers mean (other than they they're higher than the standard Xbox and the PS4 pro)

Told you guys it was awesome in January, you just didn't listen to me! Haha, just kidding, but even though I have already seen most of the game, I'm mega excited to play it from watching these videos. I loved grid, and as has already been said, this is basically grid + dirt rally
-
That guy is painful to watch :D He was just showing that the snowbanks still work

I cannot wait for June, Wales in the sun looks so good, and the Welsh stages are even better than I remember them being!
-
@KickUp I know you get asked a lot of questions, but do you know in career if there will be an option to see whether custom liveries can be applied to a car before we buy them? I know you said that not all cars will support them, so it would be good to know which ones do before we spend money on them
-
Wich video are you talking? In the one with the 208 the guy says thats arcade handling with no traction control Ah, well that would be because I watched it with the sound off, so now I look like an idiot!
-
Hard to tell from that but I'm going to guess it's arcade hadling mode by the way the car turns and brakes. You can get an idea how the your stage works
-
I can't use anything other than cockpit, as that's how you drive a real car. I just don't feel a connection with the car in any other view

Thought there was gossip when I saw 41 new comments, nope, just a discussion on water and bumpers!

So I guess you are happy with Michigan being in D4? If so, being that you are the expert, please tell me why I should be exited as I know nothing about this location. Is it gonna be good? Michigan was incredibly fast, maybe similar to something g like rally Poland, with really fast flowing sections and not as many jumps as Finland
-
Just so you know. There will be helicopters in the sky but they won't be doing any crazy flight paths or low flying. They will sometimes appear in unexpected locations so you'll need to keep your concentration on the road. Oh yeah, just remembered what you mean and how bloody awesome it was! And no, I didn't concentrate on the road, I crashed looking at the shiny helicopter!

Uhem https://youtu.be/oSDzFiOjhjs Tune. Dirt 2 soundtrack was incredible

The way you can slide the rallycross cars on tarmac in dirt 4 is so satisfying, much much better than dirt rally's physics
-
He either got confused with loheac rally cross or Spain rally, France isn't in the main game as a rally location
-
Spain looks awesome! I can't wait for it! I played it a little last time, but I don't think I finished a stage as it really wasn't ready yet.
-
Good luck! I'm hoping to make the finish of my second event this year next weekend!

When it comes to stage length, I wonder if loading time is one of the issues that prevents the stage from being longer? I've read somewhere that Sony/Microsoft have certain guidelines for this. Well it was already better than battlefield load times when we played it in November, although beating that probably isn't too hard!
-
I imagine there is some kind of formula that could be worked out with the complexity and length sliders that will help with ai times. I'm so excited to play the career mode in this game!
-
There's apparently 300 stages in the career, that would take forever to go through each one and change things. As far as I'm aware they are just purely stages created using the same generator we will have, and as previously said they will probably progress with the career by becoming more technical and longer as you progress
-
Yeah, I think the 300 stages in the career are pre set stages which have all been created using the your stage tool. So you probably won't be able to change those as it is a set in stone career mode. You can obviously create your own stages in custom events and online/leagues

Can't remember what rally it was in the U.K. Last year, maybe Isle of Man, a maxi was beating an r5 until it got wet. A good driver in that car (which Loeb definitely is) has a lot of potential to beat r5's. You might have the money to afford the car, doesn't mean you can drive it well!
-
Really liking the sound of the career, it was one thing that was lacking in dirt rally. I loved having my own team on the original grid, and this sounds like a more in depth version of that, which is amazing!
-
The game being developed by former Evo has already been confirmed to be a new racing IP. So not GRID. Oh ok interesting, maybe its something similar to Motorstorm then, Baja racing of some sort? DiRTYSTORM! You must have missed the part where Christina told us what the game was when we were having burgers!
-
Ah man, there were too many missed opportunities of spectacular crashes at pikes peak because of those resets in dirt rally. Yeah, I have a feeling that the off road countdown had gone, but don't hold me to that.
