Somerset stages? If so I'll hopefully see you both there!
-
It's also free on Xbox games with gold from February 16th! Looking forward to trying it out
-
I'm so confused right now... Dirt show looked great guys! Petter and Kris seemed really excited about it too!
-
When we went to play dirt rally Dave showed us how the game scanned the scenery, and if there were more trees/scenery around the sound would echo more, pretty cool feature
-
No there probably won't be terrain deformation in dirt 4. And the ego engine hasn't really followed any number system, I think it's just always being added to and updated constantly. This will be a newer version of what was in dirt rally

It gives you a map layout of the route before you run it, you set your parameters and click Generate Stage, we will hopefully get shakedowns? Will complexity mean more corners or more crests/dips/jumps or all of the above though? Its still going to be quite ambiguous & difficult to set up to suit! Shakedowns would be essential to Your Stage From what I gathered on the day, I think it possibly gives you more twisting and tight sections? But I'm not 100% I thought I heard that it kind of morphs the tiles slightly, but I'm sure @KickUp will confirm!

Yep, the BTRDA championship in the U.K. Used to run smaller cars at the front, which was great for us in our 1.4 litre class. They changed it about two years ago so that it's the other way around, and the turnout of smaller cars has dropped off loads unsurprisingly. Some stages were absolutely awful to drive in a 1.4 fwd! Can't remember which game it was, might have been dirt 3 that had two option, 'restart' and 'restart from service area', that was a good feature

real life 2020 FIA World Rally Championship
RallyDriven replied to Fedemaisonnave's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Bertelli is also back in the old fiesta, and the other regular in the mini who's name I forget. Lefeberverer and Breen are switching cars, I hope Craig has a good rally, and proves he's worthy of the seat and the C3. Anyone else find find it odd that M-sport have made 4 fiestas in the time it's taken Citroen to make 2 C3's? Especially since they weren't even competing properly last year! -
This. Don't worry. We'll be measured in our approach to these things. Obviously we wanted to show it off in the demo but when it comes to the real thing they should be less frequent. That said I once did a stage on the Malcolm Wilson Rally where there were around 6 retired cars in various states and positions. Yeah, when you've got 150+ cars on a national event, you'd be surprised how many you may pass off in a stage, especially if you're running near the back. My worst memory is seeing spectators slowing us down, then spying a sorry looking 6R4 well off the stage in the trees. I shed a tear or two before I remembered I was supposed to be reading notes

I am back from a weekend away, glad to see everyone seems to be happier about the awesomeness that is Dirt 4!
-
@EDDSkitz But the thing is you're complaining about nothing. The sim handling from dirt rally is still there, and it's better than it was before. And the stages, whilst they aren't real like dirt rally, they still feel real, and there are hundreds of them!

That is a bummer. I'm sure the generated stages can be awesome, but I doubt they will have the same soul and attention to detail the current stages has. And I still don't get why no older spec WRC machinery could be licensed. Anyways, exciting times! Hopefully we will have more info soon. Exciting if you're getting a check from CM... And I'm sure this "game" will be great... for those who it was built for, not the people who bought the previous title. Glad I got it cheap during EA.... Christ what are you on about? None of us were paid for our visit to codemasters, we went because we were fans of the game, and passionate about rally! Dirt 4 has a lot of the soul of Dirt Rally, it's just been scaled up for a bigger market. If you liked dirt rally, you will like dirt 4. If not, go moan somewhere else Nobody was referring to you... **** off and go praise your CM overlords some more.... let the adults ask valid questions. You don't want to start abusing people on here. Not with me around. I will abuse you until you cry for your mother. I doubt that.... But am I supposed to just lay down and take this crap from people who couldn't see CM do wrong? Lol, no... I'm asking valid questions and getting attacked, and I'm not the only one, check the net, we ALL feel this way. So sit here in your echo chambers if you'd like, but if you attack me for asking valid questions and valid points just because you don't want to hear it, I'm gonna bite back. Troll away, because I have like 50 socks.... Don't think anyone attacked you, at least not until you started swearing at us! I've answered all your questions, you just haven't listened to me!

Have a nice time being miserable about a game that hasn't come out yet x

I really wouldn't worry too much about not having real stages, the stages in the game were very good, and I probably wouldn't have known that they weren't real unless someone told me

AUSTRALIA STAGES CONFIRMED Freakin' called it! Haha! I couldn't remember who posted this, but glad you found it! I remember everyone just dismissed it and thought that it was just a coincidence! Hooe everyone's questions have been answered for now, I'm away all weekend so I'll leave it up to the others to do it!

Yes! And the new way you repair cars is awesome! So rather than dirt rally's simplistic percentage system, you now first 'inspect' to find out what is wrong with certain parts of the car like engine or suspension etc. Then you can do either quick repairs or substantial repairs or replace parts altogether, taking up different amounts of time each
-
Yeah, I can see that resulting in many smashed monitors - lol Picture the scene, you are completely on it, destroying your best time on the splits and get to the final sector to come across some tool on his roof with pacenotes and plastic bottles strewn all over the stage, and put a wheel into a verge trying to squeeze past at full race-pace, only to catch a big rock and put yourself into a field with a wheel off :D Rally over! Haha! No, there are spectators on the edge of the stage a little way ahead of where the accident is flagging you down, like you'd see on a real event. The car that I passed was off the stage though and wasn't actually blocking it. And before I started the stage, Paul told me that I didn't need to push too hard in this stage because my competitor had crashed out. I was surprised when I saw the car, and I had a big smile on my face!

Yep! I've been busy answering questions for a while! Haha! If anyone didn't see the redbull article, I'll post it again because it's a good read. http://www.redbull.com/en/games/stories/1331841547561/dirt-4-interview-red-bull-games

'Planted' is perhaps a bad description though. I thought the way the cars in DR transmitted skipping over the uneven surface was a real masterpiece. Yes, they got lairy over yumps after V2 but for me, more 'planted' would be bad? I more mean for things like landing of jumps and getting unhappy over bumps. I agree the way the cars transitioned in DR was really good, and from my memory that was the same in 4.

I didn't try the arcade, but it doesn't look like simulation handling to me. So, when I first sat down to play, it immediately felt familiar to dirt rally. I instantly noticed the cars weight felt a lot better, the car felt planted on the road and wasn't getting thrown about as much as it tends to in dirt rally. Then I came into the first major braking section, brakes at the same point as I would have in dirt rally, and immediately over-shot the corner! So the braking distances are much more realistic, and in that video of Kris it shows Him braking very last minute, so I'm going to say it's definitely aracade!
-
1. Sorry I'm not that technical with things like that, but it did feel better, car behaviour was a big improvement over dirt rally in all aspects. 2. I didn't really explore it that much, all I saw in the build was a rear wheel drive class with one truck, and a 4 wheel drive class with one truck. 3. Didn't test the buggies, but I breifly played the cross karts (I assume they are different things and it's not just the gaming sites listing the cross karts as buggies). Edit: I've already said it, but I'll say it again, the simulation handling is in very good hands, and is built on what was done in dirt rally. The braking distances have increased, so I imagine they were probably playing arcade.
-
May I ask, were they licensed trucks, or generic ones? Also, since the trailer has a heartbeat theme to it, it remind me that you should use a song, for your intro, from another title with a theme of heartbeat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UzNI-bXJw0&list=PL064566DDE0717BB4 Um, I'm not sure actually. Possibly unlicensed, but I don't really know much about real world trucks, so they could have been licensed ones! F2 kit cars were in the version we played, can't comment on wether they will make the final cut though! Also in the build we played were a less powerful 2wd class and an R2 class! Again, can't say if they will be in the final version or not though!

Dirt fish rally school was really cool. I played with the stadium trucks too, they were a lot of fun! Especially the rear wheel drive Ines, they were my favourite. There were 4x4 ones too. Rallycross has also been improved a LOT. The handling was miles better, especially on Tarmac. There was also a lot more detail in the spotter calls

The notes sounded like dirt rally's stages, even though I think they were recorded differently. They still sounded authentic basically. There's a special dirt show coming soon, so you'll see some more soon. There were a lot of cool new features in the game, including a flying finish and driving up to the control boards, competitors crashing and breaking down in stages, so you would see spectators flag you down in the stage as you passed the crashed car, and probably some more I've forgotten!
