DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Running an experiment in my xbox leage this weekend, 80s rwd vs Kit cars in Wales, 6 stages. What do people reckon will be fastest?Ive previously ran 4wd open championships and rwd open championships which were quite interesting. there were a few group b's in the 4wd top 10, but I don't think there were any in the rwd challenge

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Just a few... https://www.msauk.org/The-Sport/Types-of-Motor-Sport/Rallying "How do I start? To get involved in Stage Rallying, you’ll need a full DVLA driving licence. Then you need to buy an MSA Go Rallying starter pack, pass a BARS test and then apply for a Rally National B Stage Competition Licence. If you just want to co-drive, you can apply for a Navigator’s licence without having to pass the BARS course. For Road Rallying all you need to do is join a motor club that runs such events. If you want to be a driver you will need to have a full driving licence and be at least 17 years of age but you can compete as a navigator from as young as 12." Yep, then an international licence is earned differently, can't remember exactly how, but I'm sure someone here will know. It has something to do with competing/finishing a set number of national events. But there's nothing currently stopping you going out and buying an R5 and rallying as far as I know, although I always think that you should learn to drive a slower car fast before you jump straight into a fast car. That way you understand pushing the limits of speed and commitment better, whereas people who go straight to a fast car tend to be pretty slow as they although they are going quick because the car is very quick, they aren't driving it fast.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I only started playing the online gymkhana modes purely to get a trophy. I think I ended up spending as much time playing those modes as I did racing: at least with those modes you were supposed to crash into each other! We had a group of about 6 or so, so we had some absolutely brilliant games. Used to love solo transporter, used to be crazy.  and mouse used to get pretty tactical and aggressive, especially if we played 4 teams of 2

I've said before but I personally loved gymkhana, mainly the playground rather than the actual events though. Also, the online mini games were incredibly good fun, my friends and I spent many nights playing cat and mouse, transporter and infected. Whilst there not for everyone, they can help increase the games longevity, and keep the online going

Great, and we all can chip in for sponsorship so you can share.   Every £100 gets you a new piece of gossip

Now I'm going to have to buy my own rally car and convince Paul to sit with me

I would like to see better stage detail, like more bumps and deformations, and better stage edges, ditches and so on. Rally stages are pretty bumpy, especially in places like Wales, Greece, Mexico etc.

Yeah, I know what you meant! I played a lot of Autosport to fill the pre-DiRT Rally void! I recently got my PS3 hooked back up again, so I should really revisit a few games: all my (limited) gaming time is dedicated to DR at the moment though! With the success of DR over AS, one would imagine the DiRT series would take priority at CM? Having said that, if a new GRiD game was in the works, I assume it would have been commissioned well before the completion of DR.  I would like to see the GRiD series return in some form... but after we've got more DiRT! Didn't DR come out a year or two after AS?  DiRT 2 is still my favorite of the series. :) Yeah, it did. But we know that new games are in development for many months, sometimes ever years, before release, so if a next generation GRiD game is imminent, then the decision to green light it would, theoretically, have come before the full release of DiRT Rally.  We should have done some more digging and investigating when we were there!

Yeah, I loved that about the first grid, and would love to see it return to either a future grid or dirt game.  GAS did feature cockpit, however it was blurred out, which made me believe that the whole 5% thing was bs and it was actually just a technical problem codies had, which I would have respected a lot more if they had just said that at the time. But I could be wrong

I would really like to see a grid game with GRID 1's attention to detail and Autosport's handling model. Plus as I've already mentioned, a proper demolition derby mode following a similar style to the one in the first game. I'd also love to see a Dirt 3 style game with Dirt Rally's handling model and attention to detail. Basically just dirt 4 but a sim like dirt rally.

I'm probably going to let everyone down by saying I was a big derby racer in GRID 1, probably one of the best racers on Xbox 360 (not bragging, I was just awesome), so the lack of Derby content really disappointed me in the following games, but I did really like Grid Autosport, it just suffered from a very short development cycle

If they don't do ea again, then a more standard pre-release build up like that would be pretty likely. But we probably won't hear anything until f1 release has been and gone, as that is cm's main focus right now

I haven't been around for a while, think I've probably been spending more time playing the game rather than gossiping for a change now that I'm not at uni!Oculus support looks really cool, I doubt I'll ever get to try it, but it looks very well done!Just got back from a wet and slippery Nicky Grist Stages, and will hopefully put up some videos later. Passed Elfyn Evans on the road section, and had a little look around their service area on the Friday, some impressive stuff for a relatively small rally!

    2020 FIA World Rally Championship

It was a fairly stupid mistake, but everyone makes one of those every now and then, just look at ogier in Spain last year. He will be back

Shows that the Hyundai is also very competitive still also. Don't know how hard Ogier was pushing on final day as he probably knew he wouldn't catch neuville and JML, but he wasn't very quick at all. Even the powerstage when he did push he didn't win by much. I know he lost a second or 2 in a hairpin, but he still wouldn't have won by a lot

By not being tied to a WRC license, they do have the option to go wherever they want. But you can't deny that we got some great stages. For the next game, I think we should either get 6 completely new locations, or a mixture of some new and some old. Australia or NZSpainCorsicaPolandWales (Eppynt)Portugal or ItalyAnd then maybe a return of Greece and Finland

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Basically, there are a shit tonne of stages out there across the world, with some pretty spectacular ones either on or off the WRC calendar, and we want them all! Unfortunately we can't get them all, but as long as we get a good selection of some pretty decent stages, I'll be more than happy!

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I love Eppynt, and hopefully will be back out there competing next month. The stages are always great, very fast and flowing, with some pretty good scenery. Can't remember if its Monument or Route 60 that has a really cool downhill section onto a big concrete bridge, then back up the otherside? It claimed quite a few cars last year, and caused a few cracked windscreens too!

I would love that too, but people threw a hissy fit when they found out Finland was going to be in the autumn, even though this isn't a WRC game and they don't need to follow the WRC callendar. Hopefully those people are the minority. Hope so too. In my opinion the biggest flaw Dirt rally has regarding stages is that it's following the WRC callendar too much. They have an amazing oppertunity to go off the grid to do some amazing but lesser known rallies. But I can understand why they did it. You are, right. Let DR 2 follow lesser known rallies, and have Kylotonn follow WRC ;) Amateur rallies also needs love, and some of them are really pearls/diamonds.  But we don't exactly have bad rallies and stages in the game currently. But yeah, there are some fantastic lesser known stages out there, I've been lucky enough to tackle some of those in Britain. The somerset stages in south England are great stages, with the gravel being a unique red-brown. And Porlock Hill would be a great challenge on the next game! Tight and twisty and the bottom, and fast and open at the top! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mgGpC_XpEw

I'm wasn't overly fussed about it, but recently there have been some stunning photos coming out of some of the summertime Welsh forests, and now I'd love to see that in the game. Definitely agree with that. I'd especially love the vineyard Germany stages. Maybe something different in Wales too, like route 60 or the great orme.

I thought so? The first #thatcar was the Sport Quattro and the second hash tagged car was the Peugeot 208?  (Not 100% sure on the above though, so I await correction!) Really intrigued to know what they have planned: is it just minor tweaks, or is there further content coming for the game?  Yep - #Thatcar was being teased way before the game was announced because it was one of the first powerful cars they got working, and everyone in the team was excited about it. #Thatothercar was the 208.
