High downforce doesn't mean understeer though. Low downforce can induce oversteer because the tyres aren't gripping, but higher downforce just produces better handling, not understeer.

The 208 is just plain wrong. If the 208 drove anything like it does in DR, Loeb would have died screaming over the first best cliff. It sure has tremendous power and is very light, but it's clearly have grip to match it when looking at the onboard. It does feel more slippery than it should, but I sometimes ask myself if it isn't due to us pushing the cars far harder than you would in real life aswell. Last time I drove the 208PP on all tarmac I tried to drive it as fast as the grip allowed, without being risky. I made some smaller errors on some hairpins resulting in 5-10 seconds lost, but did a good and solid run. End result? 10 seconds off Loebs IRL PP run. Intrigued, I checked his onboard. I had taken the same lines, on the same gears, and gotten the same time. And while I held that pace, the car actually was pretty planted and controllable. That's exactly what I meant. I'm not saying it's perfect, but if you drive it like you would drive an endurance car on a track it behaves a bit better. It still feels like it needs more downforce though
-
The 208 isn't quite as planted as it probably should be, but saying that it's extremely powerful and very light, and if you push it, it's going to spin and slide. Drive it carefully and it starts to feel better
-
Yeah totally agree, the way the cars regain grip feels so realistic. I play forza from time to time and the feeling of losing and regaining grip is no where near as satisfying

I wouldn't expect any less from Milestone

Hopefully, I was home a few days ago and couldn't connect to the dallies which was a bit annoying. Struggled to get on the league as well, then ended up crashing out my own league! :( In other rally game news, there is a trailer for the rally part of Valentino Rossi: the game https://youtu.be/nnltvmvkM6E I guess it will be using seb loeb's physics model?

*looks at Camilli* Elfyn should replace him. We'll see. But I personally look forward to see what Evans can do coming straight from a succesful WRC2 season. I think that his demotion to do R5 this year might prove to be a very successful move for the future. And Camilli? I guess he must have had huge financial backing? No financial backing for Camilli, just Malcolm Wilson. *Malcom Wilson's very strange choice -
I experienced one cheater on Xbox in the short time I've played it, he finished full gravel pikes peak in 4 mins on the final event of a league and cost me 2nd place
-
But the best drivers play it on pc, console is for casual players I'll have to disagree with you on that one - there are console players that are just as serious as PC players about this game. The difference is that we had one years worth of a headstart, but they'll match the best (legit) times on PC soon enough. I think it was sarcasm. I hope anyway. Just because I eat popcorn when I play my arcade version of Dirt Rally on my xbox, doesn't make me any different to you PC players.

Unfortunately this is what will be going on for a little while now. Depending on what they are working on, it could vary. If its dirt rally dlc, we could here soon. But I think it is most likely a completely new game, in which case it could be a very long time (could be around 12 months or more) before they can really start talking/hinting

Thierry has a difficult time at the moment. Mentally it's very hard for him. If he's quick it's either him or the car that 'malfunctions'. He hasn't made that much mistakes if I recall correctly. He's had quite a few technical issues though, like in Argentina, which doesn't help him mentally and that shows in his stage times. Dropping him to the second team might be another punch in the guts. It's not really a step down because he has the same car but it suggests that Hyundai doesn't have all that much faith in him which might hit him really hard. Totally agree, I'm a big fan of Thierry, I was just thinking from a logical perspective of a team trying to get manufacturers points. You can only give someone so many chances, and with Paddon winning rallies and Sordo rarely putting a foot wrong, unfortunately it is a possible option. -

Think paddon is still in the second team for Portugal. Thierry is quick enough, just out of form at the moment and occasionally inconsistent. Sordo is consistent but not really fast enough, but you can rely on him to pick up a few points. So other than Tarmac events, paddon should probably be replacing Thierry more. -
New road book is out, there are a few teases of the team moving onto a new project. They say a few times that they cant talk about anything yet.
-
There would be a backlash if they announced it tomorrow from people who wouldn't understand that it has been out for a long time. But anyway, I don't think they are any where near announcing anything yet
-
It will be a while before a new announcement. I mean, dirt rally was in development for about 2 years or more before it was announced. Plus, I know you PC guys have had the game for a year, but remember they've only just released it on console, they probably won't go straight out and announce the new one yet

Yeah, previously they had Thierry as no1 driver, but this year they are mixing them up. Sordo is technically no1 as rules state you have to nominate a driver, however they said they're all equal within the team. Most likely that they are aiming for manufacturers title. Shame as I think paddon was in second team last weekend -

Talent wise it's paddon and neuville in the first team, but right now, results wise, it's paddon and sordo. There's no conspiracy behind anything by, just don't think he's happy within the team. He's had a few bad results and crashes, and *speculation* not been getting on well with the team. I also think that him and paddon don't get on great with eachother for some reason. Was it Spain last year that neuville went off in a stupid place? Turned out to be transmission problems threw him off the road, but paddon was furious at the time for binning it for the team -

Toyota have started testing for 2017 (finally), and rumours of neuville moving to Citroen for next year? Not sure how long he has signed contracts with Hyundai for, but I get the impression he is not as happy as he used to be there. Hope something gets worked out for him soon -

Paddon is incredibly determined as well as talented. He puts in so much effort before rallies. By the sounds of it he studied every inch of that powerstage before the rally, then pulled off an incredible run. I think even if Ovier had pushed, he would have struggled to take the 2.6 seconds he needed to take the win -

I just think road position is part of rallying. At an amateur level we use seeded road position, so fastest first. But that's because there is a lot of difference in speed, and people would be catching eachother a lot more. Ogier can clearly deal with it, so I don't see his problem -

I'm not too sure if Hyundai is the right place for neuville, however I see other moves as a bit too risky. M-Sport just don't have a competitive enough car, and Toyota is way too quiet for my liking. VW are happy with their trio, and I'm not sure if they would take him. Citroen would be the only option really. I like Thierry, so I hope things work out for him soon -

Paddon has definitely proved himself this weekend. I can't even imagine the pressure he had coming into that powerstage, a 2.6 second lead to the 3x world champion? And yet, he not only pulled it off, he walked away with 28 points. No one else has done that since VW entered the championship.Sadly though, he's still got a way to go to reach that robot like consistency and speed of Ogier. His talent is ridiculous -
And I thought I was confused by the data in my dissertation...

Ogier is an animal when he gets into the zone. At times he looks more forbidding than Loeb did. I fully agree with that: some of the moments that occur when Ogier is pushed are spectacular. I personally think he is way more ragged when on the limit that Loeb ever was... ...but that obviously wasn't enough this weekend: great job from Haddon! Makes you wonder, how long can Latvala (and arguably Neuville) retain their seats when you have drivers like Paddon posting results like that? Yeah, but Latvala still finished 2nd in the championship last year, and this weekend he suffered from two mechanical failures. I really like Neuville, I think he can be right up there when he's in form. Sadly he suffered mechanical failures too. But think of it like this, he lost 6 minutes from a breakdown, and still beat Camilli who didn't have a single problem all weekend. -

The thing is, someone has to be first on the road, and is it fair to put the *worst* drivers in the most unfair conditions? Plus, only half the rallies being first on the road is actually bad. And also, most rallies do repeat stages in the afternoon, so he's only sweeping for half the stages, then on the last day he's running at the back, where he wants to be. For a 3x world champ, it just seems ridiculous to moan about these stupid things
