That would be interesting. I'm amazed at how much money they can spend on Motorsport! -

I'm glad we have at least one more season with tanak. I think he has more to give, and hopefully he shows it next year and proves me right! -
I was standing around the our farm at home earlier this year when I suddenly heard a noise, looked round and the Vulcan came over head, absolutely amazing noise and sight! Was lucky to see it flying over silverstone a few years back too

I never really did either, but it's pretty much your only option if you want to drive a nice looking Quattro E2 or a barely ok Corolla WRC with modern graphics. That poor, poor overlooked car. I would rather drive a poorly modeled E2 that has the right sound, than a perfectly rendered car that doesn't sound right. I personally find the incorrect sound paired to a car a much bigger immersion breaker than graphics: especially when the car in question is one of (if not the) greatest sounding competition car of all time! I appreciate I may be in the minority with that point though, as many seem to put preference on graphics. That's a fair point with regards to sourcing a car to record. Sure they could have found an inline 5 cylinder engine to record somewhere in Japan though... I rarely see the outside of the car, so I'd probably have to agree with you!
-
I'd bet any rally fan £10 that they couldn't listen to that without looking at it and guess what car it is from the engine sound! Did they not even try and make it sound like a Quatrro?

What is happening with project cars 2? The last I saw if it you paid something stupid like £50 and got a flat piece of track with different surfaces

Yeah tanak himself on Twitter suggested that he hasn't heard about any of this! Dmack are supposed to be making a big announcement soon, so it's likely they will be putting a world rally team together -
This is basically a repeat of a few years ago when the 'focused' on racing games with the launch of codemasters racing. Then they caught a whiff of mobile games and went off on a bit of a tangent. Hopefully this time they shall be sticking with racing for good

Oh yeah, one more, absolutely have to have CMR3 animations. Loved the service area work and sounds, the start of the stage animations with marshal walking up to car, and finally the celebrations at the end of the event. These just add to the experience and rally culture we love. People are as much about rally as the cars and places. I wonder what dirt rally would have been like with a budget similar to dirt 3? Things like service animations and other things were sacrificed for the details in stages and handling Personally, I'd hope exactly the same, but with a few more details in those stages or handling (or some more licenses) - I much prefer the presentation style and menu system they have now to any previous rally games I've played. I do too, but tye game does miss some things like atmosphere. At the moment it is just menus and racing. The racing is incredible and the menus are pretty good, but it's a bit of a shame we miss out on other things

My GCSE German is barely helping. Considering they don't have many facts right, I doubt there is any new information there. It's mainly about basic features such as weather, number of cars/stages etc. plus some stuff about tuning and upgrading
-
Totally agree with you, Dirt 2 had an interesting story that involved you. I would like to see a more professional version of it, with dirt rally physics and stages
-
Yeah, pretty much everything else lately that we have speculated about that has been false, we have been told about it. This hasn't been denied at all. I wonder when the actual announcement is meant to be, or whether this leak changes things? Woth regards to the game's size, would it not be compressed slightly from the steam download? I don't know much (anything) about it, but I always assumed downloading a game straight was larger than having it on a disc?

I can't see it being fake tbh, it's far too well done. If it was something along the lines of Porkhammer's then I might have been a bit skeptical. But this looks pretty legit.

Dam that box art looks good! Shame there is no xbox one logo on it though :(I'm kind of surprised there isn't rallycross on the box, although there is RX branding at the bottom, and I'm sure it will be well advertised on the back

Pretty sure petter is doing rallycross next year, but there were hints he might be looking at doing something else. -
F1's engine wouldn't work with Dirt rally apparently. So they just did a lot of work on the old one, effectively making it a new one in the process. The only thing it might be slightly down on is graphics

We weren't that mean! We didn't know when it was releasing either! For some background, in November we basically tested the handling and some stages. There were no menus and not all the stages of Greece, monte or Wales were there, and some didn't have pace notes. Also played on Lydden in some rally cars. In November we basically got what everyone got at the start of early access. So it was quite funny watching the hints being dropped from the other side of things! One of my favourites was when Lee wrote a codies weekly update, which had a piece about 'that car', and just above it was Dirt 3 concept art of the Audi Quatrro. Nobody picked up on it!

Maybe they don't have the budget and would rather put all the money into 2017 -

The drivers seem positive that Hyundai are making a big step forward next year with the new car. But this news is looking like we will be sacrificing 2016 for 2017 in terms of competitiveness and excitement edit: Meeke and seb confirmed for part 2016 programme and 2017 development apparently -

Lots of drivers for less seats next year then. It's a bit of a shame we will be missing a team next year, but I'm very glad they chose WRC over WTCC -
I've only logged 80 something hours on Dirt, so I do have good knowledge of the outside world

I haven't seen anything of Tanak's retirement from GB, so I just watched his onboard on WRC+ of stage 16, and he was incredibly unlucky. It just looks like he touched a bank, which 99 times out of 100 wouldn't have done anything. There were videos of Ogier and Mikkelson hitting banks in the Polo twice as hard as Tanak did. -

I heard rumours that the main reason for VW's speed above the other teams is their suspension technology. Don't know how much truth to that, but supposedly its leaps and bounds ahead of the other teams
