  1. As much as I like Kris, some of those incidents were his own fault. Even if the car is a piece of shit, you just back off a bit and don't push it to the point where it's dangerous. He'd have finished more rallies and would have picked up some points.

M-sport could really do with some help next year, especially if Ogier leaves. They are basically just surviving off their R5 production and car prep (which I recently learned is a f**k tonne of money). Hopefully he stays and they keep the redbull money, but I don't think Ford will get involved again

  2. Also an unscheduled co driver change. He's been with John since he first started. I don't see how replacing him with someone who has barely driven the car will help, despite how good Andreas is. I just really hope that Paddon gets a proper chance next year, he's got the talent to be challenging for titles, whereas unfortunately Dani doesn't any more

  3. I think it would be cool to get a round of the WRC over here in the states. About Meeke though I think we will still see him next year. There is no way a huge player in the sport will just leave the championship.
I'm surprised there's little to no talk about this. I think a round in the US could be really beneficial, as there is a lot of money there and not a lot of coverage. It could really help break the sport into a new market

  4. Most of the fans of the wrc are European, so it makes sense for a European finale. It's normally quite a good atmosphere in Llandudno for the finish of GB too. In fact the whole of rally GB is great, with all the nationals too. Although I have no idea what rally Australia is like first hand of course!

  5. https://www.motorsport-news.co.uk/news/rallying-news/wrc/rally-poland-loses-wrc-slot-to-turkey-for-2018/

So, looks like Poland is gone, turkey to replace it. Croatia more likely to join over New Zealand, but struggling to find a date for it. Rally GB and Spain likely to switch

  6. Where do you guys watch WRC besides WRCplus?
WRC plus does not have any live stream today. But I guess they are driving today?
Wrc plus has all the coverage. Info and fan videos/pictures comes from Facebook and Twitter. Twitter is genuinely a great way to follow the wrc, if you don't have an account, you can easily make one, then just follow anyone connected with the wrc, all the teams, drivers, presenters and a few fan accounts all post the latest news over the weekends

  7. In other news, I thought I'd be competing on the national rally on Rally GB this year, but it looks like my brother will be doing it instead. Whilst a bit disappointing, it means I'll be able to get out on the stages and watch the 2017 beasts throw some Welsh mud about!

Since the Gossip thread is disgustingly empty..  I thought I would post this here:

I could see a simplified version of this in many racing sims in the future, it would make a whole new 'thing' like spending time making your branding suite.
That looks like it could get boring pretty quickly to be honest

  9. Finland will definitely be interesting, I feel like everyone will want to go for it. In the build ups Neuville has competed on and won a national Finnish rally, whilst Ogier has had a high speed accident. Wonder what, if any affect that will have on the result? Can't see meeke pushing too hard, he can't afford to write off another C3, and Citroen are probably running out of spares. At least they are good at fixing them by now!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyguJ--eT3c&feature=youtu.be - great example of the safety issues. Red tape is no go zone and it's tugged out to maximum and safety standing nearby.   :/

I hate these type of "rally fans" I know that you want to get close to the cars, and that this is the way you did this 20 years ago and back then nothing happened. But you are one of the causes rally is set as a too dangerous sport. And the reason a great rally like rally Poland could be removed from the calendar next year. It are these people who mostly die or get injured from crashes but we all know that some news sources ignore this. Saying rally is dangerous and should be banned. Although if these "fans" would have been in the correct location behind the tape everything would have gone right and we happily go rallying.

    Sorry for my little rant.
I was out on a rally yesterday as service crew, but as the service areas were right at the stage ends and we had a bit of time on our hands between stages I walked in a little way to watch. Think it's my first time spectating since rally gb 2015. It reminded me how I can never understand why people want to get that close to cars, especially on the same level as the stage. The only time I will be that close to a car is if I'm on a bank well above the stage on the inside of the corner. People are very stupid to risk their lives over little things like an adrenaline rush

The game is very good, as fun as Dirt Rally, although not as much of as simulator. Codemasters' error was presenting it like a "Dirt Rally 2", as "infinite (with a subjective meaning of "infinitely different" and keeping Dirt Rally's remarkable stage quality) number of rally routes". Had they said "this is a return to the CMR roots" people would be in love with the game at this moment. They hyped the game to levels they couldn't return, even though they returned a lot.

If they were like "we're starting the Your Stage tool, not 100% yet" nobody would be complaining about the mostly bland stages but rather praising what -- rightfully is -- one of the biggest inovations, if not the biggest, in the recent history of racing games, and that finally gives rally games a meaning related to the real world other than a very hard exercise of memorization.

This could be easily solved if Code gave us a word, a smoke signal or whatever, but they seem to basically have vanished like they did when F1 2014 was released. We all know the result for F1 2015...

Anyway, I liked it and I will keep playing it, a lot. But the whole situation still leaves a bitter taste, mainly when I think "the dark times" (like with F1 2014) may be coming back.
Firstly the physics being not as 'sim' as dirt rally is only opinion. There are many areas which are miles better than DR, and others that aren't quite as good.

Secondly coming out with a new game any saying 'we've got this new thing, it's alright but we haven't got it right yet' isn't a great way of selling a game!

  12. My brother was speaking to one of his friends a few weeks back who recently got a fiesta R5, and he literally said that it was so easy to drive because it was so grippy and responsive. The challenge with them is driving them fast and getting every second out of them
