Am I alone here not finding turbos and ALS as intriguing as tuned NA cars?

Is there anything more boring than watching a whole field of Group N Mitsubishis going past you in the stages? Low mumbling engine note and a few pops here and there.

    Shots fired!  :#

Some of the 1.4s cars that compete in the U.K. sound pretty awesome

RX seems to have had the most drastic change for D4, I used it minimally in DR but look forward to it now.  The 'scale' of the tracks seem a bit more believable now.  They seemed narrow and short before but I may have just imagined that difference.

What I do look fwd to though, is 2wd Rally, both front and rear wheel drive.  I won't be using 'game' mode, but can't wait to try the 'rookie/beginner' class R2's in full sim spec.  The Adams are rapid & the wee 3-pot Fiestas sound fantastic on the stages.  The R2 class will provide great racing demanding proper skill I reckon!

Do you want to add more anxiety? Just see this vid and you Will go to Codemasters HQ to steal a copy now LOL

The view from the side windows makes it look a lot faster than it is. If you cover those up so you can only see the windscreen it doesn't look quite as fast! Still driving at a fair speed though.

I'd be pretty impressed if it's any where near as good as dirt 4's rallycross. Especially as they've had the help of petter. After getting PC1 free with Xbox live the other month, I wasn't too impressed with the handling

I assume pad users will once again get the short stick too. I bought PC1:LE day one on the PS4 and seriously struggled with the controller settings. It was managable for most of the time once getting it dialed in but I still ended spending way too much time in the menus. Played at tops an hour of it on the XB1. Thank God that it was free. Absolute trash.

Yep, I've said that on here before. It's just unplayable with a controller. It's better with a wheel now that I've got one, but I'm still not a big fan of it.

  4. It looks decent, but from the video I'd say the suspension is no where near as good as dirt rally or 4, and the car the cars change direction seems a little off. They seem to move about almost instantly without having to set the car up too much. Still, hard to tell from gameplay videos

  5. Yeah, last year we had something like 5 or 6 different winners on the trot, but Ogier kept coming second or third, which meant he just kept extending his lead! Cracking start to the season though, and a brilliant rally! Unfortunately I was away rallying myself on Saturday and away watching other motorsport on Sunday, so I didn't get to watch any of it

  6. Off topic,

but im back from an incredibly bumpy Somerset Stages, which showed just how far a good set of suspension would get you! Unfortunately ours wasn't up to it and the car is pretty bent. Hopefully I'll get some footage uploaded tomorrow as my laptop is absolutely useless at the moment.

https://twitter.com/mike_evett/status/851179508975751168 Caught a spectator of lying on the outside of a bend filming with an iPad, so I made sure that the marshals got him moved out the way!

  7. Had a look at the vid with the RX car of Bakkerud at dirtfish. Very disapointing to see the bonnet fly of with no real reason. I've seen that in other games and it looks soooo arcade. In real life the bonnet rarely goes of except in the first 100 meters when a mechanic didn't fit it right. B)

@kickup is this also in dirt 4 using simulation? If so please re-think...

@kickup, do/can mechanics make mistakes when repairing and servicing the car?

You could see that he had crashed several times head on before that happened, that's why it came off. In real life it would more likely probably fly up in front of the windscreen rather than come off completely, but unfortunately dirt 4 is CLEARLY A POPCORN GAME FOR ARCADE PLAYERS!!!1!1!!!!!!!!

Congrats Codies - you killed GT Sport for me. Probably any other racing game :p
And I really glad that all footage I saw was from a standard PS4. I remember SLRE dev said it's impossible to get more than 30 fps on PS4 hardware, lol.

They don't have the optimization skill that Codies have. Imo, Codies are one of the best, making the games run very smooth.

Goes to show that with some effort, you can get a beautiful looking game that runs great. Witcher 3 is another one that got it right. All racing games should target 60fps, 30fps on a racing sim is just nasty if you want to make those reactive movements

Yeah, I played forza horizon loads when it first came out, when I eventually put dirt rally back into my Xbox after a couple of weeks, I could not believe the difference between 30fps and 60! It was mad how much smoother dirt looked. I'd never really thought or cared about it before then as it's probably the first racing game I've had that runs that smoothly.

Also, the unveiling of project Scorpio earlier has got me very interested, although I have no idea what all those numbers mean (other than they they're higher than the standard Xbox and the PS4 pro)

  9. Told you guys it was awesome in January, you just didn't listen to me! Haha, just kidding, but even though I have already seen most of the game, I'm mega excited to play it from watching these videos. I loved grid, and as has already been said, this is basically grid + dirt rally

  10. @KickUp I know you get asked a lot of questions, but do you know in career if there will be an option to see whether custom liveries can be applied to a car before we buy them? I know you said that not all cars will support them, so it would be good to know which ones do before we spend money on them

  11. Hard to tell from that but I'm going to guess it's arcade hadling mode by the way the car turns and brakes. You can get an idea how the your stage works

Wich video are you talking? In the one with the 208 the guy says thats arcade handling with no traction control

Ah, well that would be because I watched it with the sound off, so now I look like an idiot!

2x plus pages about Helicopters???    Wow, I hope this isn't how I've sounded, asking about American rally all of these years :open_mouth: my apologies if it has.

So I guess you are happy with Michigan being in D4? If so, being that you are the expert, please tell me why I should be exited as I know nothing about this location. Is it gonna be good?

Michigan was incredibly fast, maybe similar to something g like rally Poland, with really fast flowing sections and not as many jumps as Finland

Just so you know. There will be helicopters in the sky but they won't be doing any crazy flight paths or low flying. They will sometimes appear in unexpected locations so you'll need to keep your concentration on the road.

Oh yeah, just remembered what you mean and how bloody awesome it was! And no, I didn't concentrate on the road, I crashed looking at the shiny helicopter!
