  1. I have literally no idea what I'm doing with my wheel, don't know what half the feedback sliders do and I think I changed the rotation to about 720 but I haven't got a clue.

What I do know is its bloody good fun!

(and if I wasn't hungover and trying not to die/be sick, I'd be on it now!)
    So its going well? :P
Definitely! I'm getting more used to it now and I'm getting faster!

And the Audi licence wasn't a problem with need for speed. Hopefully the Audi support may help resolve the issue, if it's not too late into development to get it into the game! Unsure whether it's 16 or 17 content, will probably be 16 I guess

I have to drive on the wrong side of the road, so it made sense to put my shifter on the right, still need a suggestion for a cheap/easy way to get a USB handbrake so I don't have to rubber band my shifter.
You could get a cheap USB gamepad and make some kind of lever mechanism which depresses one of the buttons (or make a custom one using a micro switch and soldering that to one of the existing buttons of the gamepad). You would basically be using that gamepad as the brains of the handbrake, so you wouldn't need to program anything, the PC would just see the gamepad, so everything should work just fine. That would require some craftsmanship though :D

I wanted to do something like this, just haven't gotten around to do it. It's H-shifter in the video. With a handbrake you would be using just one button instead of many and the mechanism would be a bit different, but the principle remains the same.

Before I sold my Obutto/Triple screen setup I used my TH8 as my handbrake for RBR (before DR came out).  It worked great!  But I gave up on sim racing for awhile because there seemed to be no rally simulator ever  coming out again and circuit racing just doesn't do it for me anymore like it used to.

Then Dirt Rally came out of absolutely nowhere, luckily I saved my Clubsport wheel/pedals and a basic wheel stand just in case.  Rally sim + wheel setup is just the absolute best.  I can't believe @RallyDriven just now got one!  I have seen you posting here for a long time.  Btw I now use a button for handbrake, it takes a little to get used to but you'll get it!
Well I don't really have a lot of room for a wheel, and I still don't really! I'm not really sat in the best position, back of my chair is up against the foot of my bed and pedals are against the wall! It's ok, but I'd prefer to be sat a bit more spread out and in a proper seat!

And I have been around for quite a while now! Been on this thread since the first page, and I was in the old forums since before the release of dirt 3, but I had a different username!

    I knew you'd enjoy it!
Yep! Cheers for the setup help!
You can tweak it to suit yourself, but I find that setup communicates what the car is doing fairly well

Are you beating your own times yet? :)
First I beat mine, then I beat yours!
Can you see mine?  What stage was it, il get a rip at it
    Haha, it's a future target ;)

What do you use as handbrake? I've currently got it as B, but I can never seem to find it once the wheel isn't level

  5. I'm alright with a pad, I can win quite easily on the hardest difficulty. However Project cars is currently free on Xbox live, and I'm finding it impossible to play on a controller. Think that just goes to show how well codemasters did dirt rally though! Looking forward to setting my wheel up tomorrow!

I use X (square) as upshift and A (x) as downshift. B (circle) is my handbrake, and triggers are accelerating and braking. I hate using A and X as accelerator and brake!
Kids these days. Got no idea what real controller action is all about...
I may be leaving you as a fellow controller peasant soon, it's just too tempting!

Edit: not sure what's going on with that link!

  7. Unfortunately this isn't how things work today! I just can't see it being a big enough market for it today. You've got the people that actually watch the championship, the ones that can afford to buy that type of car, and the ones that actually do want to buy it. That's a bit of a niche market

  8. Thing is a straight road flat out is going to create higher average speeds than a series of high speed corners, but which is going to be safer? Average speed doesn't show the full picture.

And no, this is nothing like group b. Those cars were ridiculously overpowered, and were going way faster than the safety features and standards available to them. Plus there was the insanely stupid crowd numbers and positions. In most places, if you left the road, you were guaranteed to kill or injure people.
