Aren't we always off topic?
Pretty much
So, excuse the massive amount of swearing, here's what happens when both co diver and driver make the same mistake on the same stage twice, on SS1 and SS12!

It tends to be necessary when you don't have much power! Our car is a near enough standard 1.4 despite being in the 1400C classF2CMaDMaXX said:

Whilst we're off topic, here's mine and my dad's run of Porlock on last Saturdays Somerset Stages. Managed to set the fastest time in our class!
Also, apologies @Rallycameraman for forgetting to wave, as you might have noticed when we came past, we had a small incident on stage 1! There is a video on facebook, but it involves a fair amount of swearing!
It also now has misshapen door from our ss1 incident, which in tempted to put into youtube

Rallying is expensive, full stop. You can do it on the cheap, but it will still cost you a fair amount. It's not just buying or building a car, it's spares and repairs, tyres, entry fees, transporting the car and hotels -
I think we could go on for a while making sticky pants classes!RyuMakkuro said:

Just imagine a class of:Hyundai i20 R5
Ford Fiesta R5
Citroen DS3 R5
Peugeot 208 T16 R5
Skoda Fabia R5
Mitsubishi Mirage R5
Now that would be a hell of a lot of fun!
- Ford Focus WRC
- Toyota Corolla WRC
- Mitsubishi Evo VI WRC
- Peugeot 206 WRC
- Subaru Impreza WRC 2000
- Skoda Octavia RS WRC
- Hyundai Accent WRC
Call it "90s" for example. Since we have 2010 car now in 2000s this shouldn't be a problem.
And my pants suddenly got sticky xD

track deformation and soft roadside banks (real car weight over roadside banks)
a better tarmac feeling
a lot more locations
that would be epic :)
And some amazing R2, R3, R5's rally cars or more WRC rallycars ;-) That would be amazing!

I've said it before, but I'd love to see a dirt 4 game with the handling and stage design of dirt rally throughout, so things like the buggies and trophy trucks as a sim. I'm also one of the few who liked gymkhana, and I think that would be pretty cool if done the same way -
The problem is more if the engine is limited. I know what we have in Dirt Rally is absolutely amazing, but if the engine is limiting the next game - such as not being able to introduce longer stages, terrain deformation, more stages etc. - then the engine will need an overhaul to keep the next game freshgfRally said:I dont think DR engine needs overhauled or that its old, just some fundamental features that have been missing. Some features that have never been in any CM title that other racing titles have long had now.
Probably this is going to affect Grid and F1 more than DR.

Yeah, it also uses the hanging dust effect on rallycross that was used to make hanging tyre smoke in Grid autosport's drift events.TURBODEVIN19 said:
One of the biggest changes to the F1 engine was the current gen console support. I believe they used an improved version of the GRID Autosport engine for DiRT Rally, looking at the grass tech at Lydden confirms this somehow.RallyDriven said:On another similar note, do you think we could be seeing a whole new game engine being developed? I'm a bit lost on where they are with ego at the moment, as Dirt rally didn't use F1's, and instead used an older one which was basically re designed. was the F1 engine new for the last game?
But since the DiRT Rally engine now also supports PS4 and Xbox One, I'm lost as well...
I remember them saying that something about the latest F1 engine just wouldn't work with what they wanted to achieve with Dirt Rally, so the ended up diving into an old engine and basically picking apart to code.

As much as I love Dirt, I also love grid, it was the game that convinced me to buy an xbox 360, and probably the game I've played most out of any other. So I'm glad to see it mentioned in that blog post, as hopefully it will see a revival. Hopefully all this means good things for future Codemasters games.

Azoresst said:According to Eurogamer (UK sales):
"Chart-Track said Dirt Rally beat launch week sales of 2012's Dirt Showdown by 197 per cent. But it's third in launch week sales terms compared to other games in Dirt series, behind Colin McRae: Dirt 2 and Dirt 3."
But the sales charts are only for physical copies, the digital market for consoles is bigger now then when DiRT 2 and 3 were released.
Another point to remember is the budget for all three games, with Dirt Rally being significantly less than the two previous games. So although it might lack in sales, it may make up for it in return on investment -
Why are we talking about tigers? Although, it's better than who's console is the best, or 'where's my Toyota?' -
Wow! You're lucky to have that so close! -
I don't have space for a wheel set up, so if I did buy a PC id be playing on a controller, and since I'd only buy a PC for a small number of games, there's not much point in that. Can we all just accept that sometimes, people play games on different platforms, and at the end of the day, they're pretty much the same thing? -
Starts tomorrow morning and lasts till Friday night, then a new one for Saturday and sunday. Going to do just two, slightly longer events next week with 3 1/2 days for eachKevM said:

Had a chance to compete in the league yet? up to 40 members now! I was leading despite a roll and a small crash, but ive dropped to second now :(KevM said:I was in Tesco's earlier, they seem to have plenty of Legend Editions for both platforms

Plus I didn't get my unique engineer :(
He's probably a bit busy today! As I said, I'm not too fussed, I'm destroying my first season so far, got a 12 point lead with just Sweden to go!
Also up to 19 people in my league now! Anyone else on xbox feel free to join, planning on doing new events each week!

says it does not currently support it, so hopefully it will be coming soon. I can see an overview of Hell though, and it looks like it will be a very good tool! -
Just did the daily, He'll in the ds3. Should have practiced first as I've never driven the car before, but currently 3rd fastest! -
Yep, I'm so happy to have played a small part of this!Rallycameraman said:Almost 2 years to the date since I first played DiRT Rally, or DiRT Delta as I believe it was known back then. Really hope it does well on console. There's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't.

Just played the first preview event (60's mini in Greece) whilst the full game was installing, and I won by a long way despite a spin on stage 2! Looks like I've still got it! -
Whoop whoop! Thank you postman! Installing now! -

Congratulations to the team on getting to this point! :) You can hear and read in interviews that this was far from an easy journey and I'm really happy I played a tiny part in it :)
I'm planning on going this evening to Sainsbury's to hopefully buy one of the steelbook edition copies. However, it will have to be for PS4 as they're not selling PC... I guess I'll have to follow with a purchase of a console
By the way - if anyone sees a PC steelbook edition please buy it for me and I'll send the money back with 10% profit :D Anyone?
I've not had much time to play DiRT Rally lately (life stuff) and I'm unlikely to get much time to play in the immediate future (big life stuff), but I'll do my best to have a go with the new content soon :)
Congratulations to @KickUp @Hatward , Steve the Wizard, the rest of the awesome dev and community team and to our torturer/DiRTy friend @justbiglee . Thanks for being so engaging and keen to listent to the fans - I hope that you've seen that it helped you make a better game. The best rally game ever! :D
And now I wait on Mr. Postman...
