Don't be a dull beggar. I know about future featues. I was talking about "how it looks like", some snowy video or screehshots. Just as it was before Modern Masters update.
    Insults aside...

With so much out of the bag (and Paul on holiday with no community manager), it's understandable that if there is much left to tease, they don't want to.
    Yeesh

it was mentioned that if they were going to do a console release, the porting would be outsourced to someone else, allowing the Codemasters team to focus on PC. I don't know whether this happened in the end, or if it did when they would have starting to do it. I guess they could have started a while ago, and then worked on the later stuff like modern masters and winter wonderland later down the line?
In all honesty, I'd hope not, unless it was suitably budgeted from a very experienced porter with a good track record.
Outsourced ports have been a recent source of contention in terms of bad console to PC ports (Mortal Kombat X, Batman: Arkham Knight...) and also bad PC to 8th Gen Console Ports (Borderlands: The Handsome Collection).
Better to port it themselves and release later than release something sub-par. GTA5 on PC has been an exceptional example that porting properly and releasing later is vastly more successful.
The PC version of MGS5 was also handled internally by Kojima Productions. I was supposed to be released after the console versions, but the dev team gave up their holiday for finishing the console version (not re-scheduled, just gave it up) to get the PC version out at the same time.
    ...
,,,I wonder if the PC port of F1 2015 was outsourced...

I don't really know much about game development. This was only mentioned briefly at the time, so anything could have changed by then. I hope we find out sooner rather than later, cause I'm pretty excited right now!

  2. Everything just seems to be falling out at this point doesn't it? I'm hoping that all the announcements will come with the update on Monday (not saying that's when the update is, just speculating).

I wonder how far console release would be? Right back in November last year we were discussing with Lee and the team the early access programme, and it was mentioned that if they were going to do a console release, the porting would be outsourced to someone else, allowing the Codemasters team to focus on PC. I don't know whether this happened in the end, or if it did when they would have starting to do it. I guess they could have started a while ago, and then worked on the later stuff like modern masters and winter wonderland later down the line?

Haha thought you already had one!

Although I've been playing I haven't been able to enjoy it as my laptop doesn't like rain or night time, so I'll be really looking forward to playing the full thing again! I've only logged about 80 hours or so as I didn't want to ruin the game for when I can play it properly!
With the new house this year I have had to curtail my spending some what! I almost cracked when MGS5 came out, but I managed to resist. I cannot wait any longer to play DiRT Rally though, so once that's confirmed I'm making a purchase!

I cracked about this time last year in the Christmas sales and got an xbox. The wait will be worth it, what we played before release is nothing compared to the stuff in the game now!

Oh and - personal point of view - as much as I enjoy racing in GT, I have never rated the rally portion of the games.
I never really did either, but it's pretty much your only option if you want to drive a nice looking Quattro E2 or a barely ok Corolla WRC with modern graphics. That poor, poor overlooked car.
I would rather drive a poorly modeled E2 that has the right sound, than a perfectly rendered car that doesn't sound right. I personally find the incorrect sound paired to a car a much bigger immersion breaker than graphics: especially when the car in question is one of (if not the) greatest sounding competition car of all time! I appreciate I may be in the minority with that point though, as many seem to put preference on graphics.

That's a fair point with regards to sourcing a car to record. Sure they could have found an inline 5 cylinder engine to record somewhere in Japan though...
I rarely see the outside of the car, so I'd probably have to agree with you!

Funny thing is that rally in GT doesn't feel as bad as it might look in gameplay, especially chase came.
Yet the way the cars move on gravel in a replay actually looks pretty good.

I'd bet any rally fan £10 that they couldn't listen to that without looking at it and guess what car it is from the engine sound! Did they not even try and make it sound like a Quatrro?

Totally agree with you, Dirt 2 had an interesting story that involved you. I would like to see a more professional version of it, with dirt rally physics and stages
Oh yeah, one more, absolutely have to have CMR3 animations.  Loved the service area work and sounds, the start of the stage animations with marshal walking up to car, and finally the celebrations at the end of the event.

These just add to the experience and rally culture we love.

People are as much about rally as the cars and places.
I wonder what dirt rally would have been like with a budget similar to dirt 3? Things like service animations and other things were sacrificed for the details in stages and handling
Personally, I'd hope exactly the same, but with a few more details in those stages or handling (or some more licenses) - I much prefer the presentation style and menu system they have now to any previous rally games I've played.
I do too, but tye game does miss some things like atmosphere. At the moment it is just menus and racing. The racing is incredible and the menus are pretty good, but it's a bit of a shame we miss out on other things

In addition to that, both Paul and Hatward, at the very least have been lingering around in here, dropping a few likes and lols here and there.

If there was absolutely nothing to this, you would think they would be rather quick to shoot it down and say it's fake, especially if it were to associate their product with a vehicle they didn't have permission to use.
That would be pretty bad times for them.
Yeah, pretty much everything else lately that we have speculated about that has been false, we have been told about it. This hasn't been denied at all. I wonder when the actual announcement is meant to be, or whether this leak changes things?

Woth regards to the game's size, would it not be compressed slightly from the steam download? I don't know much (anything) about it, but I always assumed downloading a game straight was larger than having it on a disc?
