Great news. New offline modes sounds amazing. Love the addition of split screen. So far, so good.

Hmm, mixed feeling. Split screen, own team, Schumacher edition. It's ok, but i hope it's not the all "new content"

GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?
davideh replied to mcfc4heatons's topic in General Discussion
At this point in time, the game is on sale. I was hoping the split screen feature would be here by now, but I'm not biting on buying GRID until that feature is there. -
didn't play much of DR1, but Dirt 4 had a system where you could essentially sign up to drive for a different team (rather than your own, that you build in career mode) and use almost any car in the game that you didn't own. you would get far fewer rewards, but it was a good way of trying out cars you didn't have yet. that said, I only saw this in Freeplay. I didn't do daily challenges so I don't know if it worked like that for those as well. a couple other things from Dirt 3: split screen (not likely, I know) Head 2 Head was quite good

Why should anyone buy this knowing CM track record?
ianism replied to rodikas's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
yah I really miss the first racing games i ever played, NFS II and NFS III. they had tournament & knockout (one of each), single race, split screen and LAN and/or online play! oh and have fun trying to get them to run on anything more recent than Windows XP, not to mention getting online races going. they had 15-20 cars and ~8km of roads and like 2-3 difficulty levels. who wants a career mode, car tuning, decent physics, damage models, stage degradation, hundreds of km of roads, dozens of cars, etc? you ever play a text-based game? I think we should go back to those. it's like reading a book, except to get to the next paragraph you use trial and error instead of... your eyes. it's a highly efficient way to spend your time, and clearly the work of auteur developers, so you gotta support. and companies 20 years ago weren't better than they are now, you were just younger and unaware of all the nasty stuff they got up to because you were less world-weary and we didn't have youtube to overanalyze the everliving **** out of everything. you ever play GTA San Andreas? it ran (and looked) like trash whenever it rained [in the game, though it'd be funny if it could sense when it was raining for real wherever you were] yet somehow it still managed to sell a hilarious number of copies. because people didn't care about that kind of stuff back then. dear god humans are terrible at remembering what things were actually like in the past (much less times/places in which they never lived). corporate fanboys? preprogrammed groupthink? always come like clockwork? [phrasing, haha] who are you, Alex Jones' third-favourite stepchild? white knight isn't a verb, professor. and you shouldn't add "yet" to the phrase "have a lot of growing up to do" because the meaning is already implied, professor. and English professors don't study grammar, professor, they study literature: so - haakchewaly - a grammarian is what you're after. but wait! 2 accounts with minimal numbers of posts that joined this forum today? all of them talking about long-term support? did you just make a 2nd account to make it look like someone is agreeing with you? no? well then, you two absolutely must be ....... (searching for minimally plausible thing) ...... bigben employees trying to stoke fear in the hearts of their bitterest-est (it's like bitter, but double extra!!!) rivals. but keep going, because there's nothing I love more in an attempted troll than when they start getting stomped in arguments and react by insulting others instead of engaging in "valid criticism": "If you're going to make a game and run your own servers for large sections of the games to work, you should at least keep them working while people still play your games instead of pulling support in hopes that they put up with your bullspit and buy your DLC-riddled console kid game for immature fanboys who always get triggered" and no, this is not valid (much less constructive) criticism, you hypocritical Aye-aye. GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?
CrazySerbianGuy replied to mcfc4heatons's topic in General Discussion
This was the first game in franchise that i didn't pre-ordered. Not because I didn't like it, but because i knew it will be a big disappointment, I knew it after watching few gameplay videos , it was that obvious. Now I am positive 100% that I will never pre-order Codemasters game, never ! GRID games were all about great story and even more about great MULTIPLAYER and lot of features that were part of online experience. Not the case here. Looks like this game was made for some other audience , it was rushed out and looks like it was made by new people, people who never played GRID games before. And fans of franchise didn't welcomed that. They never listened to the people before the game was released, after they hit the rock bottom (around 200 active players on Steam, I believe it's the same on consoles) , they now want to redeem themselves by adding most wanted features by community. If you want to know what were the most wanted features, you will find several threads about that. It is little too late now, people moved on other games. I am afraid that they made a huge disaster, they lost so many fans and players with this mess of a game. I am afraid they will ruin great team of SMS too... I do hope that SMS help them make better racing games in future. And to add to the subject of this thread, yes, there were promises before game release that they will add split screen feature sometimes later. -
GRID - Mode/Feature/Content Suggestions

Hello, long time absentee from the Codies forums here. Had to make a return to make some comments on this game because honestly for me, it's so close to perfect, but also falls so far short of what it could be. My main two gripes to begin with are - Why on EARTH is there no T Cam for the single seaters?? Like who actually tested this game and thought it was acceptable to not put one in, or at least give us the option to edit the cameras to replicate something similar? The F1000 cars are playable, but I can't help feeling totally deflated when I have to race one of the amazing Renault F1s in either cockpit cam, which I'm not too keen on, or chase cam which is totally ridiculous with an F1 car and always will be. Just put a T Cam in, please, it will make both the single seater classes so much more fun to play. Secondly, I would love a livery bookmarker, or an option to attach a livery to all cars that you own. This would allow the player to create a functioning brand for their team akin to the original Grid. There's little point giving us a team name when the control of said team feels so minimal and detached from any relevance. At least giving us a blanket option in the livery editor would help build up some kind of team branding feel. One additional note I would make is - I'll be thoroughly disappointed if we don't see anymore tracks after the 3rd season. Especially if I'm right in thinking the 3rd season is the final season. I can forgive everything else that this game falls short on, if we just get MORE TRACKS. There simply isn't enough - especially from a company that has the license to every single F1 track currently in use that they could easily implement into a game like this. There is a fantastic range of cars, a career mode that has so much more depth than it presents itself as having, a good set of game modes, but the lack of tracks just makes all of that irrelevant. I beg, if we get one thing, please make it more tracks. Finally, having read through this thread briefly, I also fully agree that Demolition Derby should make a return. Further features that would be great but would understandably be more difficult or unnecessary to include are: split screen multiplayer, and/or multi class racing (GTs + Prototype?). Just putting feelers out to see if anyone agrees here. Aside from these points I'm thoroughly enjoying the game, especially since I got the Ultimate Edition on offer for £30 (basically £10 because I used a playstation gift card), I can't complain at all. -
@BarryBL why do you think I'm writing about it here? in the GRID section we only have a social-marketing guy as a wall 🙄 section F1 can count on direct contact with Codemasters Staff there are plenty of sensible comments and suggestion about GRID but there is no support or feedback directly from the Codemasters Staff like here the split screen is good example of your reaction to the same argument and shows the difference in support for this product's community it's sad and you CM need to think about changing it, we need more attention and feedback in GRID section or this game will soon die please take a moment and read GRID section to see if this is the right direction...

this is the core that keep this race game on the game. otherwise there'll be shortly game over the sadder, this abandonment shows the position of this title in relation to Dirt/F1 @ChrisGrovesMCM could you confirm the same about split screen gem option?

GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?

Think you'll find split screen is a thing of the past, unless its something like Mario Kart. I don't remember the last game that had it. -
Lots of people have big screen tvs these days so it makes even more sense to bring back classic split screen racing. Good idea!

Is there an option/feature where I can take turns and easily switch players on my PS4 console? I want to race against multiple local players on my PS4 console. While I'd prefer split screen, I can settle if we can simply take turns, and have the game keep track of our results. Thanks. PS4

Hello, I have grid for the Nintendo switch. The split screen mode is a lot of fun, only a lot needs to be patched. The Ki is much too strong at the beginning. there should be setting specifications that can then be corrected. The starting position setting should be fixed, because you never start as you set it (reverse order). If the Ki drives with only 3 tires, it still drives in first place. The Ki hardly makes mistakes, if it rams you, you fly away, the reverse is not possible. if you are broken, can no longer drive and have not been eliminated. you can only restart, even though the other player has finished. it should be like this when the penultimate car has reached the finish line is 10 seconds later. it would also be nice if you can drive qualifying and thus also change the setting of the car.

Why would they give you split screen when they can sell you two games to play head to head? 😉
-
nah, the fanbase for the kart game itself is pretty huge - they remade a game from 1999, right? - the game currently has 700k active players with an internet connection on PS4 alone and this is all over their reddit so they are ballot stuffing. it's very good, plus you can play 4-player split screen. I think the NFS fans just haven't noticed there's a poll yet it's really weird that they added WRC 8 after the poll already started. there's still not even a description of the game on the page! I guess it's a write-in?

Handling? Check. This thing appears to be legit and just may explode once it's released. For those of us who can't spend $1500 on a new PC or next gen console, what you guys at CM have done, from admitting your screw ups to working your tail off is beyond outstanding. As an IndyCar and Touring fan, this almost makes me want to cry. Thank you. _______________________________________________ TheXboxHub said: GRID: Autosport will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next week and we managed to grab a hands-on preview of a near-on final build over at the distributor, Namco Bandai’s offices. So are we looking at a return to form for the GRID franchise or will petrol-heads be left wanting more? I’m pleased to say that initial reactions are good. Very good in fact. The preview version we had time with was pretty much what we’ll be seeing when Autosport hits the world next week (You’re looking at a 24th June release in North America and a 27th June release elsewhere), although as is usually the case, a couple of key features were locked down; in this instance the online and split screen modes. Yes, split screen is back and so you’ll be able to hit the tarmac with your mates from the comfort of your own living room, throwing banter back and forth as you tear each other up round some of the numerous circuits. With 22 tracks supplying over 100 variations in all, there’s going to be some decent time spent in the latest GRID racer. Anyone who has had previous experience with either the superb GRID 1 or GRID 2 will be right at home with the vast majority of circuits. You’ll be visiting the likes of Brands Hatch, Hockenheim and Indianapolis as well as taking in the sights and sounds of some of the worlds most iconic cities; Washington, San Francisco and Barcelona among others. Each have been replicated superbly well, with only some poor crowd images a letdown (remember this isn’t next gen stuff), but take to one of the streets in a night race and you’ll be witnessing fireworks and camera flashes going off around you as you race. The inclusion of the night races alongside the daytime stuff really brings something new and exciting to GRID and it’s a joy to behold. But of course, the tracks and surrounding areas are only as good as the racing on the track and Autosport seems to excel here too. With five disciplines; Tuner, Endurance, Open-Wheel, Street and Touring all available from the get go, there is plenty to keep you busy. We’ve detailed each of the disciplines in previous posts so if you would like to know more on each one, hit the links and get engrossed. I did have a slight niggling feeling in the back of my mind that there wouldn’t be enough variety between the disciplines, both in terms of handling and excitement, but I’m pleased to say that couldn’t be further from the truth. Hit the Open Wheel class and you’ll find a car that responds to your every move, gripping the corners and begging to be blasted down the straights, but take a turn in a tuned drifter and you’ll find the exact opposite. I’m not normally a fan of drifting events, normally preferring the full on races but I can see me spending a fair bit of time flinging the odd Nissan or three around in competition. The racing for all disciplines seems tight and aggressive and with five difficulty levels, plenty of scope for tuning each vehicle (brake bias, diffs, suspensions and the like), you certainly aren’t going to get bored for a long time. You can of course, leave all the tuning and upgrades for another time if you so wish and this should happily cater for both experienced and new racers alike, with the numerous camera options (including a cockpit view) also helping both types of driver. And with tight, aggressive racing comes a fair old whack of bumping and grinding. We all know that ‘rubbin is racin’ and Codies have seemingly taken this to heart. The damage models found on the cars looked excellent, with minor rubs being picked up well and full head on crashes totaling your car. Those who decide to take the ‘rough’ approach to the latest GRID title will be left cursing as their steering fails, brakes stop working and top-end speeds are diminished. However, let’s just hope that the online options give any host the ability to play with simulated damage off…..else things could get very messy! With a career mode that spans all five disciplines and covers many races, the single player guys out there will be more than happy with the depth of things. The sponsor objectives that are a well loved part of the Grid series are back but this time are much less intrusive. They now sit there just waiting to pop when you hit a certain speed, complete a race without collisions or perhaps beat your teammate. Career XP is generated across the board and whilst it will most definitely reward the driver who takes in a bit of each discipline, if you wish, you can just focus solely on one race craft and still get an awful lot out of the game. Alongside the career, the ‘custom cup’ option gives you the go ahead to play the game exactly how you wish. Choose your track, choose your setting, choose your car and then go race or hit the time attack scene. I’m guessing this is where the usual RaceNet leaderboards and features will really come to prominence once the world gets racing. An intriguing final option that was greyed out was that of a DLC store. We know that GRID: Autosport will be coming with a standard and a Black edition and perhaps the store is there just so the extras from the Black edition can be picked up at a later date…..but does it mean Codemasters have got an extra circuit or two up their sleeves? Extra cars would also be a great addition. Overall, I was very impressed with the preview of Autosport and can’t wait to see the full game hit home next week. The racing is hard, fast and ultimately rewarding, with fans of the original GRID having absolutely nothing to worry about. GRID feels like it’s gone back to it’s roots and that’s a good thing! Now……Anyone wanna race?!?

GRID - Mode/Feature/Content Suggestions

Here are other suggestions I'd like to chime in (for PC: 1. Fix the rain effects. Sometimes it looks like rain is falling in batches. That's not how rain works. 2. Introduce an option to have races be extended. 3. Chase camera height and distance from car should be adjustable. 4. Using assists and difficulty should come with a reward system. 5. Bring back split screen on PC. It was a great feature in Autosport. 6. Hot-lapping should have more than 1 lap, just like in Autosport. That made the game more challenging. 7. Have in-race objectives like in Autosport. 8. More tracks please (Hockenheim, Mazda, Suzuka, Nurburg ring, etc) 9. Polish the ultra HD texture-packs. The game just looks like a DLC of Autosport. So outdated. 10. Introduce Rally Cross (If Dirt 4 and Rally can have it I see no reason not to have it here) 11. More indurance races (can you please just make it a whole category of events?) 12. Ghosts in Free-play with a test-drive mode. 13. Introduce test-drive mode in the quick-tune menu -
I finally received the game, playing it on standard PS4. My impressions after 2-3 hours of play: PROS - On my plain vanilla PS4, the graphics are way better than DR2. Maybe it's different on other platforms but on my machine, DR2 often looked blurry. - The ambiance is very addictive, things like roadside crowd noise, helicopter above, etc. Better immersion generally. - It's a more complete game altogether: training, split screen play, a proper career mode (though I have barely had time to look at it so far) - The weather effects are great CONS - I still have not been able to find the great driving feel of DR2. It's not bad to any degree, but it's different, and generally I have preferred DR2 so far. - I find that the cars tend to fly off much easier than in DR2 when you start touching the side of the track (is that what some call the "Apollo effect"?). Kind of annoying. - The better graphics come at the price of lower framerate. I found it bothering for the first 15 minutes, not anymore. STILL TO BE DECIDED - Difficulty: it's a more inviting game for beginners, if only because of the training tracks. But so far I haven't found it easier than DR2, though maybe that's because I haven't properly set my T300 yet. - Probably a lot more... What is certain is that I do not find it obviously worse (or better) than DR. I'd say that WRC 8 is a great thing for rally games: competition will push CM to do craft an even better DR3, and maybe get them to fix the annoyances of DR2 faster (hello crazy AI times in some classes...)

My bet is split screen multiplayer
