  1. Hey everyone – welcome to the latest edition of the Racing Line! We’ve stopped picking up chocolate eggs at a sensationally low post-Easter price to bring you the next fortnightly update on all things Codemasters. We hope everyone is still keeping safe, well and happy in the current climate. We’re thrilled to see many of you using Codemasters games as a tool to stay entertained and occupied at home. As grateful as we are for you playing with us, we’re equally grateful to the entire Codies team, continuing to push forward and give you more of what you want. Speaking of which… A new content drop, more esports action, and the small matter of a brand new game reveal are the headline acts for the latest Racing Line. Buckle up – this one’s a doozy. F1 Hey there, A lot has happened since our last Racing Line! In case you missed yesterday’s news – we announced F1 2020 to the world! We’ve been so excited about this behind the scenes, and you can read why in our news story right here! We’ve introduced a brand-new mode to F1 2020: ‘My Team’, where you’ll be able to create your own team and take your place alongside the 2020 line-up. F1 2020 also has two-player split-screen, more customisable options (especially for those of you who have previously found F1 games difficult to play), and shorter career lengths, if you want them. We haven’t finished there: you’ll be able to drive as the legendary Michael Schumacher himself in four of his most iconic cars in the Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition. We know you’re itching to know what those cars are! They are: 1991 Jordan 191, 1994 Benetton B194, 995 Benetton B195, and the 2000 Ferrari F1-2000 (yes, that Jordan – just look at it!): Read all about it here and catch the announcement trailer below: This weekend, we’ll once again see F1 drivers battle against each other in a Virtual GP, this time around the Shanghai International Circuit. Charles Leclerc will be looking for victory once again, as he takes on fellow drivers George Russell, Antonio Giovinazzi, Lando Norris, Alex Albon, and Nicholas Latifi. You will NOT want to miss it! The fun will start on F1.com, F1’s YouTube, Twitch and Facebook from 18:00 BST (17:00 UTC) on Sunday, April 19! See you there. – Jenny GRID Not much has been going on this week in the world of GRID. It’s not like we dropped six brand new cars, a new circuit, or new achievements. Hah, we got you – turns out that’s exactly what we did! GRID Season 3 released this week across Xbox One, PS4, and PC via Steam. Players are already getting stuck into the 33 new Career events, many of which are on the new Suzuka Circuit. The six new cars are racking up the miles too. Have you got a favourite out of the Koenigsegg Jesko, Koenigsegg Agera, Ferrari FXX-K Evo, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, Honda NSX-GT, and the Nissan GT-R Racing Car (GT500 Spec)? If you want to read all about Season 3 and what has made it so special for the fans and the GRID team, then take a look at our ‘deep-dive’ blog post. The GRID team go into the reasons behind the choices made with Season 3 and how you can make the most out of your time with GRID. We aren’t done with GRID just yet, so make sure you stay involved in the discussion over on the GRID Forums or on our official Discord. – James DIRT RALLY 2.0 Hello DiRT fans – here’s a quick overview of what’s been going down these past few weeks: The Solberg World Cup is underway. A few weeks ago professional rally driver Oliver Solberg created a Club to rally around Argentina, and the response was immense with over 4,000 people joining. Following the success of that, his team got busy and have come up with something even bigger: The Solberg World Cup. The Solberg World Cup is a six-event Clubs championship with some big prizes on the line. How big? Well, ever fancied being a real rally driver for a day? We thought so. Head on over here for all the info and get rallying. If you’re reading this blog post the week it goes live, you still have time to finish the Monte Carlo Event before Sweden takes over. Next up, this Sunday our friends at the FIA World Rallycross Championship and Motorsport Network are getting together to hose a rallycross extravaganza, as the World RX Esports Invitational kicks off. Billed as a replacement event to the now-postponed World RX of Catalunya, the Invitational brings together famous rallycross stars, top qualifiers and special guests for a day of action. To top it all off, we’ve got World RX broadcast faces Andrew Coley and Neil Cole on commentary, so (in Andrew’s words) it’s going to be MEGA. The show gets underway at 14.00 UK time (13.00 UTC) on Sunday afternoon, and you can see the whole thing on the World RX YouTube channel. In April we saw a whole bunch of people pick up DiRT Rally 2.0 for the first time, both through the Game of the Year Edition release and other activities. If you’re one of these, here are a few handy links to get you started: • YouTube – DiRT Rally School • YouTube – Controller Settings Guide • Forums – New Player Guide That’s it from me – catch you all soon. – PJ F1® MOBILE RACING We’ve been keeping as close an eye on the recent F1 2020 game reveal and are just as excited as you! As long-time players of F1® Mobile Racing will know, this week’s announcement means there’s more very exciting news on the way regarding our free-to-play official F1 game. As for the present, the Spring Warmup event has wrapped up with the action as competitive as ever. We’ve kept up the pace with a new limited-time event opening earlier this week: the America Tour! The four-race event see us head west and tackle the fierce F1 circuits situated in North America and South America. Kick things off at COTA and finish up in Interlagos in our latest GP Event that offers big rewards to the top drivers. Good luck! – Chris ANY OTHER BUSINESS? New to Codemasters games? Seen our titles in recent live events and want to try for yourself? Take our latest console game for a test drive, with free trials available for GRID, F1 2019 and DiRT Rally 2.0. We’re continuing the #CodiesColouringBook with some more screenshots for everyone to colour in! F1® 2020 | Announce Trailer

A few thoughts: Personally, I'm interested in the new "My Team" mode - it's a small breath of fresh air. However, everything else sounds like it will be more of the same 2019 game. I was talking with one person about my expectations for this game, and I didn't bring up anything new - my main point is that F1 2020 should be treated like F1 2014, the last game before the next generation of games appear. It would make sense, considering Xbox Series X and PS5 are coming with more power, more capabilities etc., so a new game engine will be more or less required (replacing this one), and Codemasters just have to get a 2020 game out. And considering how F1 2015 came out (now when I remember it... oof), I think Codemasters may want to avoid the same "barebones" situation in the 2021 game, hence most development now going forward to 2021 game already. Of course, I was not expecting any new gamemodes (or especially split-screen (though now it makes no sense to not have VR options (unless there's still the FPS target and it's still 60 and not at least 90?..))), so it was a nice surprise, however, I'm still doubtful whether it will actually be a 2020 game or just a 2019.5 game. I don't know, that's just a few thoughts I have about this game - I'm not expecting much at all, and probably it will be just more of the same as in the 2019 game, with no improvements to main game areas (and returning old bugs). I guess you could say I'm very cautious so far. Also, if some thoughts didn't make sense, I'm sorry - English is my 2nd language, I'm not perfect in it. Also, early prediction - Safety Car will STILL be buggy on the launch day of F1 2020. Someone quote me on that 3 months later when the game releases, whether I was right or wrong.
  3. Be patient. Give it a few more years and it will be once more included in F1 2024 as an exciting new option! They did that with split screen so will probably be the same with coop as well.

GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?

Have to say, once I got into it, I have really enjoyed this latest GRID game - it's just a real shame that I can play split screen with my sons/ I hope codemasters reverse this trend of removing split screen
  5. So I got a notification on my phone from the F1 app saying "Be the grid's 11th team with the new F1® 2020..." and I stopped studying, read the whole thing and came here. People didn't really expect much from the game this year, some even believed there would be no game because of so many races postponed because of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak. The ones who believed in a 2020 title expected it to be just a remake from last year's game with just new liveries, tracks and driver changes, so that Codies could focus more on the new 2021 regulations (which were postponed too though). Welp, I guess we were wrong! Our beloved Career Mode is now casual player -friendly with the shorter season options. And YES, we FINALLY get a MY TEAM MODE! (woop in the chat for that) They haven't announced more than this, but I can imagine the 22 cars on the grid, two cars with your own custom liveries. I don't know where they will get the two extra drivers. Will we finally see other F2 drivers get promoted in the future seasons when playing those My Team and Career modes? The game creating it's own future talents who replace the drivers who have left F2? F1 driver retirements? F3? How much there will be a difference between Career Mode and My Team? Will we see Lukas Weber and Devon Butler again or will there be completely new characters? I hope the problems of F1 2019 have been fixed, such as AI wet traction, AI bad defending skill, (V)SC deployment. Also you can play two player split-screen on your consoles! Lewis Hamilton might claim the seventh world championship and tie up with Michael Schumacher, so you can buy a Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition that includes four of the most iconic cars the German legend has driven. On 10th of July, I surely will be one of the first people at our local GameStop buying this game. For the trailer, go https://youtu.be/sd96C67i8aE

GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?

At this point in time, the game is on sale. I was hoping the split screen feature would be here by now, but I'm not biting on buying GRID until that feature is there.

What do you miss from older Dirt games?

didn't play much of DR1, but Dirt 4 had a system where you could essentially sign up to drive for a different team (rather than your own, that you build in career mode) and use almost any car in the game that you didn't own. you would get far fewer rewards, but it was a good way of trying out cars you didn't have yet. that said, I only saw this in Freeplay. I didn't do daily challenges so I don't know if it worked like that for those as well. a couple other things from Dirt 3: split screen (not likely, I know) Head 2 Head was quite good
  11. Another stage broken after driving off in last sector. Stage this time: Annbank Station As with previous report, Personal Best is broken, and the stage is permanently stuttering from the place where I went off, and until finishline. In the 1st video, you can see the Ghost that triggered the BUG, and where it went off. Take note of the time. It's about 03:18.xxx. At 0:58 in the video, you can see the new Personal Best time and Split Times. PB is 03:18.108. This matches the time for where the Ghost went off. This is exactly same as I have reported before. In the Split time screen at 1:01, you can see that Split 4 is only 00:37.301. In the 2nd video, at 3:35, you can see the correct PB time and Split Times: PB Stage Time 03:35.863 and time for the 4th Split is 00:57.478, which is about 20 seconds more then it show now. In the 3rd video, you can see how the Frametimes is doing crazy spikes at the last part of the stage. The steady interval of spikes to around 17ms have been there since day 1, and is different every time I restart PC/Game. I'm sometimes lucky and get it down to 10ms, which seems smooth compared to 17ms. I have given up on you fixing this, but I mention it because it just might be related. In the 4th video, I reinstall the game, and after starting the game again, the PB time showed at start is still wrong. In the 5th video, you see the ghost (a bit better this time, and you can actually see that it disappeares at exactly 03:18.108 ) is still the wrong one, the stutter form where I drove off still apparent, and PB time and split time still wrong. Leaderboard is still corret. Video 1: Video 2: Video 3: Video 4: Video 5: I don't expect you to fix it since you havn't been able to fix any of the other very serious problems, like stutter, or even try to work with us to fix it, or even reply to any of the endless hours spent on trying to help you improve the game by writing reports and making videos. BUT I DO EXPECT YOU TO AT LEAST REPLY AND TELL ME HOW TO FIX THE BROKEN TIMES AND STAGES!!! I spent a whole day making the previous report about this problem, and not a single response from you about how to fix my stages and the PB times, not even a simple THANK YOU for wasting a hole day of my precious time making a thorow report! I have spent many hundred hours writing reports and helping other users with their problems, keeping the load off your shoulders. It is very hard to stay friendly with your no-response , no THANK YOU attitude! Cheers :)

Tired of F1 games online bugs

Steam has frequent outages. all too often league races get interrupted because steam dies. sometimes even for a short while. but after 24 laps in a league race that is the most enoying thing. Especially with games like this where you usually race about once a week with a league and dates are set months in advance, It's just very sloppy and a sign of not taking your own game seriously enough to just be dependant on steam. Steam doesn't care about our little league races. Codemasters should. Because it is what's keeping the online community turning right now. Cross-platform is long overdue anyway. "codies" make their sub-par product even more sub-par by making its functioning dependant on a not very reliable service like steam. So when steam dies 20 drivers, commentators, stewards and viewers alike are within a split second staring at their reflections with a "lost connection to steam" error on their screen. (some people might have had the pleasure of driving around a bit longer seeing everybody disconnect and doing a few more turns with that sinking feeling knowing the fun is over) Of course it's not a disaster if it goes down every now and then as long as it gets announced in advance. (or in the middle of the night...) And @UP100 Does zealously defending trash come with the moderator function? I just don't understand how you can defend the ABYSMAL state the multiplayer is in. it is NOT okay. it needs fixing YESTERDAY and if they don't there really is no more hope for this game. They don't need to reinvent the wheel they need to massively improve on the wheels already invented and become the pinnacle of e-sports like f1 is the pinnacle of motorsport. Their lack of ambition with one of the biggest licenses in the gaming world is staggering. @BarryBL if i may be allowed to ask 1 question today. You usually don't answer my questions but this is one that concerns a lot of us: -Does Codemasters indeed feel that the place that online multiplayer (in f1 2019) is in right now is all fine and dandy? Just a simple 'yes' or 'no' will suffice, as to not steal any more of your time. I think there's still some 9 month old bugs that everybody has seen a million times already that you can ask people for a video about..
  14. Best codemasters, maybe you can cut the topics into pieces so i don't have to read 69964214 other topics first and come to the conclusion that it was all about Grid for PC while i was searching for PS4-Pro.. So please just make separate topics pages in separate categories for Grid PS4 (Pro), Grid PC and ofcourse also for the other platforms and games. That way it's more easy for people to search if the topic they are planning to make already exists or if they can just read the others topic made for console, PC or other. Problems on PC are different from PS4 or even PS4-Pro or Android etc. So thanks for that, it's also easier for you guys to differentiate if it's a topic for a particular console or pc or any other platform 👍 So, next i was playing some GRID 2019 (latest update) on my PS4-Pro on my Sony 55" 4K Ultra HD TV, i was doing some Time Trial/Race on Free Play without the AI and i was doing some laps on Okutama GP, Sprint Circuit with the Ferrari FFX in 3rd person view with no assists and only ABS at 2. When i had a flying start the next lap and also many laps after that, i was having issues with a Flickering screen. Most of the time coming fast into corner 1 (so the first corner from the grid) and also i was encountering some massive Lag when i was coming out of that corner onto the short straight after that and also when i was coming into the last corner onto the straight till the finish line. My engine sound was like cut down (like it was in 7th gear way to early) and it was like the car had a own will of driving and was driving into a tropical storm and the car could not go any faster anymore.. it just lacks of power (specially) on these two parts of the track, i could not rev the rpm at all. BTW i was driving with a Wired Controller (Razer Raiju) wich is in top condition and i was driving with a Semi Automatic gearbox in the game. I had accomplished a 2nd place leaderbord time and knew i could go faster when i had found the right setup and also if i tweaked my controller options in the games menu, but the lag (or whatever it was) won't let me do that! The framerate seems to drop and the game felt all of a sudden so slow. Where i was faster in split time the game act strange and was holding in, where i was slower the framerates all of a sudden liked to doubled and i was over shooting the corners because of that issue. The game is totally undrivable this way. Sometimes i just want to drive the automatic because it is way more relaxing. But it seems the game is made for steering wheel and manual gear now, because this way with a (semi) Automatic you can't drive the way you want at all because the automatic gear lacks of power and you can't rev the rpm at all and the car have a will at its own. Even when i shift down or up with Semi Automatic gearbox, the game just override my command and shifts back up or down again and cuts of the power transition i input to the gas pedal (trigger).. I'm also wondering if people who play on a normal PS4 and on a HD 1080p TV also have issues with a Flickering screen or maybe it's just a problem that occurs at 4k in combination with a ps4 pro that the game Grid 2019 just can't handle, because with other games i have no problem at all. And also please comment if you have a problem with this massive Lag that when you want to go any faster and the game just won't let you and holding down/cutting off the power you input onto the throttle..?? ps: Excuse for my bad English and i still support your games and the codemasters team, i was with you from day one 1997 TOCA Touring Car Championship came out and what a game was that!! 👍🧡
  15. You are calling out a company that spent over a year removing "games for windows live" from Dirt 3, a full 4 years after the games initial release; and calling them names? Dirt Rally 1 was built up with them listening to consumer feedback during the early access phase of its development, including completely overhauling the way force feedback worked. To the point of even adding VR into the title. They even added VR into Dirt Rally 2.0 for the PC, after fans of the game who use VR made it very clear it was a highly wanted feature. Sure, they have hit a few bumps in the road here an there along the way. They have certainly done things with DLC in DR2.0 that I dont exactly agree with (selling back tracks from DR1 to us as the only example, but they did do work on them to make them fit with DR2.0's track degradation system, so swings and roundabouts), and still havnt resolved all the issues with DR2.0 (Colour banding on the Oculus rift, which makes it impossible to play a night stage at all if you have destroyed your lights). But they are certainly no EA or Activision. Dirt Rally 1 is stull fully fuctional online, so is Dirt 4. As far as I know, even the older Grid and Dirt games are. Least on PC, and I assume on console too. If you want someone to blame for all this online DRM bs, blame the people who cheated the games online multipler and leaderboards. Blame the ones who refused to pay for games and only pirated them. Because they are the biggest reason why games devs and publishers have gone the way they have, why they are becoming always online. Pirating has been so rampant in gaming since the 80's, that they have been forced time and time again to come up with anyway to protect their investment. And given how much work it takes to make a video game (or any peice of software), they have every right to do so. Even if we hate it. Its a case of others ruining it for the rest of us. I hate all this always online rubbish too, but I fully understand why they do it; and why they invest so heavily in DRM measures. And as for DLC, that has been a thing for decades. Long before the internet was a thing. You could get new levels, and even game patches. Especially for systems that used floppy disk drives, and even on CD-Rom when that tech was added. They used to be included in monthly video game magazines. You could even buy full on expansion packs. Notable games from the 90's where Duke Nukem 3d, Quake 2. Notable games from the 80's that offered expansion packs, are Dragon Slayer and Xanadu. The list is actually more extensive than that, but I wont be listing them all here. Even Sonic and Knuckles was an expansion pack on the Sega Mega Drive, as well as a stand alone title. Sega came up with the idea after been forced to split Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles into 2 seperate titles, due to the cost of the cartridge that would be needed if they didnt. Some older games also got re-released as "gold" or "GOTY" editions as well (just like some do today), which added new content as well as patched bugs that had been found after release. Which shows how little you clearly know about gaming history where add on content, and even game patches are concered. So "money-grubbing DLC galore" has been going on in gaming since the 80's. Its nothing new at all, its not a modern concept in gaming; the internet just made it more accesable and profitable. This information comes curtasy from someone who grew up with gaming in the 80's and 90's, no pretending from me. My first gaming system/computer was an Amstrad CPC 464 using Amstrad basic and cassatte tapes. I grew up using BBC Micro's in School, and then the Macintosh Classic and Classic ii. Using Amiga's, NES and Master system's. The ZX Spectrum, ive used pretty much every major home computer and games console going at some point in my life. Using the earliest versions of Windows. Ive grown up around gaming and tech, and I have seen its ups and downs over the years. As said above, I hate the always online bs too, and that games often lose features because of it. But that is the realm of gaming as it stands today, and I fully understand the devs and publishers needs to protect the products they have invested countless hours into. If you dont like it, all you can do is vote with your purse and not buy the games that use the things you dont like. You may not be interested in VR, and thats fair. You may not be on a platform that offers it as an option. But the VR market is growing, and it is not as expensive at this point as it was. Oculus Quest for example, is full standlone VR that is resonably close to the same level as PC VR, and also offers Oculus Link; which means it can be used for PC VR now as well. The landscape around VR is beginning to pick up speed and evolve, its getting into more and more customers hands now. So it is something all racing and flight/space game devs should look towards at this point. As said above, with Codemasters now owning Slightly Mad Studios. They should now have access to a game engine that has a robust VR implentation for racing games. Perhaps even the best implementation of VR in racing games at this moment in time. There is absolutly no reason that games they produce after 2021 and onwards, should not be using VR for both OculusSDK and SteamVR. The Madness Engine works with both in Pcars 1 and 2 on steam. Codemasters biggest issue with adding VR, as mostly reported in the gaming media, agaisnt adding VR support for F1 as an example. Was apperently due in large to game engine time of development for VR to be added. That should no longer be a factor at all with the Madness engine. If they happen to use it. As for the tech, there is actually a lot of rubbish out there. People adament you need the highest end system possible (which you dont unless you are trying to run everything maxed out), that you have to use X amount of supersampling to make the picture better (in my personal experiance, you dont. It just wastes resources and often forces on ASW which halves the framerate). That even the screen door effect is really bad. There is a lot of misinformation out there about VR, but so long as you stick with Oculus or HTC Vive (avoid the Vive Comos at this time though), or can afford to drop money into a Valve index on the PCVR side of things. There really arnt as many issues as people like to make out there is. The tech is young, I will agree with you on that aspect. But I will encourage anyone to try it, if they can. Proper PCVR, and even the Oculus Quest; are the only options worth investing into right now.
  16. yah I really miss the first racing games i ever played, NFS II and NFS III. they had tournament & knockout (one of each), single race, split screen and LAN and/or online play! oh and have fun trying to get them to run on anything more recent than Windows XP, not to mention getting online races going. they had 15-20 cars and ~8km of roads and like 2-3 difficulty levels. who wants a career mode, car tuning, decent physics, damage models, stage degradation, hundreds of km of roads, dozens of cars, etc? you ever play a text-based game? I think we should go back to those. it's like reading a book, except to get to the next paragraph you use trial and error instead of... your eyes. it's a highly efficient way to spend your time, and clearly the work of auteur developers, so you gotta support. and companies 20 years ago weren't better than they are now, you were just younger and unaware of all the nasty stuff they got up to because you were less world-weary and we didn't have youtube to overanalyze the everliving **** out of everything. you ever play GTA San Andreas? it ran (and looked) like trash whenever it rained [in the game, though it'd be funny if it could sense when it was raining for real wherever you were] yet somehow it still managed to sell a hilarious number of copies. because people didn't care about that kind of stuff back then. dear god humans are terrible at remembering what things were actually like in the past (much less times/places in which they never lived). corporate fanboys? preprogrammed groupthink? always come like clockwork? [phrasing, haha] who are you, Alex Jones' third-favourite stepchild? white knight isn't a verb, professor. and you shouldn't add "yet" to the phrase "have a lot of growing up to do" because the meaning is already implied, professor. and English professors don't study grammar, professor, they study literature: so - haakchewaly - a grammarian is what you're after. but wait! 2 accounts with minimal numbers of posts that joined this forum today? all of them talking about long-term support? did you just make a 2nd account to make it look like someone is agreeing with you? no? well then, you two absolutely must be ....... (searching for minimally plausible thing) ...... bigben employees trying to stoke fear in the hearts of their bitterest-est (it's like bitter, but double extra!!!) rivals. but keep going, because there's nothing I love more in an attempted troll than when they start getting stomped in arguments and react by insulting others instead of engaging in "valid criticism": "If you're going to make a game and run your own servers for large sections of the games to work, you should at least keep them working while people still play your games instead of pulling support in hopes that they put up with your bullspit and buy your DLC-riddled console kid game for immature fanboys who always get triggered" and no, this is not valid (much less constructive) criticism, you hypocritical Aye-aye. (sorry, was just watching a nature documentary series set in Madagascar)

GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?

For the record, I still think GRID 2019 is a really fun game, I love driving the MINIs, braking really late & flinging them round corners or sometimes setting damage to visual & driving like a maniac, the nemesis feature is cool too. Split screen with friends & family would be so much fun with this game. The big issue was/is no split screen after seemingly it was promised. All the geeks keep telling us splitscreen is thing of the past, thats a problem to me & sends the wrong message to young people. Project Cars is not a replacement for GRID, never will be.

GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?

This was the first game in franchise that i didn't pre-ordered. Not because I didn't like it, but because i knew it will be a big disappointment, I knew it after watching few gameplay videos , it was that obvious. Now I am positive 100% that I will never pre-order Codemasters game, never ! GRID games were all about great story and even more about great MULTIPLAYER and lot of features that were part of online experience. Not the case here. Looks like this game was made for some other audience , it was rushed out and looks like it was made by new people, people who never played GRID games before. And fans of franchise didn't welcomed that. They never listened to the people before the game was released, after they hit the rock bottom (around 200 active players on Steam, I believe it's the same on consoles) , they now want to redeem themselves by adding most wanted features by community. If you want to know what were the most wanted features, you will find several threads about that. It is little too late now, people moved on other games. I am afraid that they made a huge disaster, they lost so many fans and players with this mess of a game. I am afraid they will ruin great team of SMS too... I do hope that SMS help them make better racing games in future. And to add to the subject of this thread, yes, there were promises before game release that they will add split screen feature sometimes later.

GRID 2019 - When is Split Screen Coming?

Hi, i would also like to know when is split screen coming, it is "advertised" as a factor for buying this game so it should be delivered. Hope that more people register and posts a comment like i did, maybe this way we can push the developer to deliver any information as it's been a month and no comments from their side... It's been 6 months and no split screen, say something, current multiplayer is ... lacking in certain aspects, and it's not about the fact that people are not playing it, it's abut that there doesn't seem to be much do there and that makes people leave this title.

    GRID - Mode/Feature/Content Suggestions

Hello, long time absentee from the Codies forums here. Had to make a return to make some comments on this game because honestly for me, it's so close to perfect, but also falls so far short of what it could be. My main two gripes to begin with are - Why on EARTH is there no T Cam for the single seaters?? Like who actually tested this game and thought it was acceptable to not put one in, or at least give us the option to edit the cameras to replicate something similar? The F1000 cars are playable, but I can't help feeling totally deflated when I have to race one of the amazing Renault F1s in either cockpit cam, which I'm not too keen on, or chase cam which is totally ridiculous with an F1 car and always will be. Just put a T Cam in, please, it will make both the single seater classes so much more fun to play. Secondly, I would love a livery bookmarker, or an option to attach a livery to all cars that you own. This would allow the player to create a functioning brand for their team akin to the original Grid. There's little point giving us a team name when the control of said team feels so minimal and detached from any relevance. At least giving us a blanket option in the livery editor would help build up some kind of team branding feel. One additional note I would make is - I'll be thoroughly disappointed if we don't see anymore tracks after the 3rd season. Especially if I'm right in thinking the 3rd season is the final season. I can forgive everything else that this game falls short on, if we just get MORE TRACKS. There simply isn't enough - especially from a company that has the license to every single F1 track currently in use that they could easily implement into a game like this. There is a fantastic range of cars, a career mode that has so much more depth than it presents itself as having, a good set of game modes, but the lack of tracks just makes all of that irrelevant. I beg, if we get one thing, please make it more tracks. Finally, having read through this thread briefly, I also fully agree that Demolition Derby should make a return. Further features that would be great but would understandably be more difficult or unnecessary to include are: split screen multiplayer, and/or multi class racing (GTs + Prototype?). Just putting feelers out to see if anyone agrees here. Aside from these points I'm thoroughly enjoying the game, especially since I got the Ultimate Edition on offer for £30 (basically £10 because I used a playstation gift card), I can't complain at all.
  21. @BarryBL Been a while since I posted something, but just wanted to contribute on improvements on 2020 Online lobbies (ranked as well as unranked) are not really good designed (understatement of the year) What needs to be changed other than the obvious what everybody is already stating that ranked lobbies need to be split up in assist users and no assist users, the broken ranking system, and the penalty system. - The so called filter: what's the use of a filter on region only? People want to be able to filter lobbies on how long a race is, which assists needs to be on or off, damage type, those kind of things. Right now people need to open every lobby to see what assists the host has turned on, not user friendly. Cleans up the overview of lobbies which are also in progress. - When leaving said unranked lobby, why for god sake do people get returned to the MAIN screen in stead of back to the lobby oversight screen? Now we get returned to the main screen and start searching all over again. There's absolutely no logic in that. - Hosts need to be able to stop a race session at any moment, so they can kick out dirty drivers and this way clean out the lobby from toxic people, and afterwards restart the race again with everyone who is able to behave properly. This way the dirty scum who's only there for chaos do understand that they only impact themselves with their behaviour because they can't get into any lobby anymore where they are kicked from. Also every kick action needs to be logged, so CM can take the appropriate action to these people when they get kicked all the time. PLUS Make it clear next to their name or something. Only the host needs to see it, and when someone enters who's been kicked several times for dirty driving, they can prevent the lobby from this kind of people. So when people are kicked, give hosts several reasons why they are kicked. #makeonlinelobbiescleanagain - Connections need to be filtered way better. If your connection to the lobby isn't stable enough, you won't be able to enter the lobby, and getting a message that your connection is too bad and it preventing people in the lobby from having a negative experience. This way you can prevent teleporting cars, unstable lobbies, framedrops, teleporting AI. - AI is not intelligent. People get taken out by AI in online lobbies. AI drives like dirty drivers, when they hit you, they don't back off, they keep on pressing the throttle until you spin. how many times i am beeing tboned by A"I"... - When people run lobbies only with themselves and the rest AI, people can't take over any AI driver. Hide these lobbies from the overview, because there's absolutely no use in showing them when people can't take control of an AI driver. - When running a lobby with F1 2019 cars, automatically set the max player count to 20 since there aren't 22 cars/spots available. Also when people leave these lobbies, when running multiple races, the cars/spots are beeing blocked from usage. This way people who join the lobbies can't select a team because someone who left holds an available spot even when not in the lobby. Perhaps I think of other things, but this is a start. On a sidenote, IMO you'd better start focussing on the 2021 regulation changes and next gen consoles and put in all your effort there to make a better experience, because everyone already knows 2020 will be a copy paste of 2019 with new skins on the cars. It's already a JOKE that the DRS zones aren't even updated in the OFFICIAL licensed game, even when the season is already over. And don't get me started on the rest. Save yourself some emberassment and make 2020 a DLC for 2019, make improvements based on 2019 and what's beeing said on the forums and at least try to salvage something of the mess. In the meantime, start focussing on the new 2021 season, build from the ground up with what you learned from all the abominations you made the years before, and build something GOOD! With the quality of what you released in the previous years, people will perhaps accept a DLC version for 2020 more than having to pay full money. Plus it gives you more time and resources to actually work and focus on the problems, in stead of taking the whole ******** with you for again another year, and start all over again. Because that WILL happen when you release a 'new' copy paste version. Stop lying about years of development, when everyone can see how 2019 was a copy of 2017 with all the same problems and ********. Start admitting your errors, take your loss this year by releasing a smaller DLC for less money, improve from there, and throw all your efforts in the new generation consoles with their power and possibilites. From there you can build on a clean slate.

    SPLIT SCREEN comeback to GRID

Hey! Barry doesn't even work in a studio that develops GRID and so on. The Birmingham guys have almost exclusively worked on F1 games (+ F1 spinoffs) since they were acquired by Codemasters. Split screen was said to be in works for GRID ages ago, though I don't know if this will come out as GRID 2019 would then be the first EGO 3 game to have split screen as an option 😕
  23. GENERAL Random track generator OR a track editor This is a big one. Dirt Rally has a special "advantage" - lack of official stages. That makes this series a perfect candidate for innovation in that regard. Truth is, tracks are a consumable. At some point you learn them and they stop being surprising. If Dirt Rally 3 wants to avoid the plague of a comical amount of DLC tracks and two season passes, it should spend the time and effort to come up with a truly revolutionary random track generator. It can still have DLC, don't worry, but these can be of cars and countries, rather than tracks that we already know anyway. And you can support the game with dozen of seasons if you want, if the base game would be fulfilling by itself. Better (worse?) co-driver Sometimes realism comes with a detriment to the gameplay. Mr. Phil is very calm and pretty clear, which is quite realistic - he's a professional and he tries to keep the atmosphere in the car cool. However, to a player that might feel like he's just reading the pacenotes at a desk, completely unphased to what's going on around him. We need a less professional co-driver, that does exactly the opposite - adds dramatism and nervousness to the experience. They should react when you drive off the road or hit stuff, they should ask if you're okay if you crash, they should change their voice tone in dangerous situations at high speeds. It might feel counter-intuitive, but it adds to the character of the game and makes it that much engaging. Cuts and tire damage As I have mentioned in a different thread, cuts aren't liked by anyone, neither the experienced players nor the newbies. However, you might never get to eliminate them - if you're too strict, the maps start to look goofy and limited, and some will slip past you anyway. As I have suggested, soft tires should take the most damage when driving off-road, up to a point of a flat. Slower, but harder tires should allow newbies to make a ton of mistakes and still get to the end in one piece. Hardcore Damage Seems that everyone's gripe with hardcore damage is that it's not really "hardcore". While this definitely needs to be fixed and improved, I would also like to see more types of damage - brake failure, gear failure and many others. OFFLINE CHAMPIONSHIP The basis of Dirt Rally (of any Rally game, really), is traversing the track from one end to another as fast as possible. What defines a game mode here is EVERYTHING ELSE. If there's nothing else distinguishing a game mode, it has no reason to exist - and that's the case with almost every mode in Dirt Rally. Focus on Hardcore It might be daunting to explain to Corporate that you'll focus on the players already playing your game, rather than making it easy and approachable, but here's the counter-argument: Dirt Rally now has a reputation to uphold, it's already known as "that game you're going to crash and burn in" among the casual population. The answer to a strong identification is not to distance yourself from it, but to lean in as hard as you can and meet the expectations. What I mean by that is game balance. The game should be balanced for hardcore damage and no resets (including an auto-loss if you Alt+F4), and include additional features (such as random events). That does not mean you CAN'T turn these off, just that the game is made with the assumption that you'll eventually turn them on. In-depth Team Management Team Managements in DR1 and DR2 are extremely linear - you get more money, you upgrade your team members and that's it. In reality, it's not management, it's upgrades that get you closer to the "ideal" racing conditions. Do I have suggestions in this matter? No. I realize the reason the system is so boring is because it's difficult to come up with something truly interesting. So I can just offer criticism of the system and hope you'll figure a way to make it better. Sponsors and decal customization It might seem pointless to include customization in a game where you never see your opponent's cars, but believe me - nobody REALLY sees your amazing decals in Need for Speed, yet people still apply them. Sponsors aren't just an addition to the management aspect - they should get angry when you trash the car with their logos on it, forcing you to drive more cleanly. MULTIPLAYER As in the previous section, each game mode has to feature something that differentiates it from the others - however, in the case of multiplayer in the current Dirt Rally titles, the issue is that there's nothing "multiplayer" about them. Every person on the leaderboard could be called "John Johnson" and it would change absolutely nothing about my experience with it. In a game where you're never interacting with other competitors, an extreme amount of attention should be put into creating that interaction though other venues. Rank and ladder system https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/39258-overly-specific-description-of-a-possible-ranking-system/ I've already posted my idea for a ladder system a long time ago, but the recap is - five tiers, plus a "Legend" tier for the Top 100 players. Bracket players into small groups, so instead of finishing "289" and having no idea how good they actually are, they finish between 1-100 and can directly compare themselves to others. The goal here is feedback and interaction - a player has to see how good they are and how their skill increases with time. In-depth breakdowns and the feeling of progress Keeping with the theme of progress, currently the system produces one winner and hundreds of losers. You will always see a "red" bar on the left side of the screen, because you're compared against ONE score of ONE player that happened to go the fastest. A player must be provided with a stat sheet of what they did right and what they did wrong. Even if they haven't won, was there a split they did particularly fast? You have to let them know.

    F1 2020 Split screen

@BarryBL why do you think I'm writing about it here? in the GRID section we only have a social-marketing guy as a wall 🙄 section F1 can count on direct contact with Codemasters Staff there are plenty of sensible comments and suggestion about GRID but there is no support or feedback directly from the Codemasters Staff like here the split screen is good example of your reaction to the same argument and shows the difference in support for this product's community it's sad and you CM need to think about changing it, we need more attention and feedback in GRID section or this game will soon die please take a moment and read GRID section to see if this is the right direction...

    Connection to Leagues

Hi @lvs6, I have split this from the patch discussion as it is its own separate issue. We recommend copying this and filling it out with the questions alongside it so CM staff and other users can see the problems you are having 1. A description of the issue. Please include any error codes here. 2. What version of the game you are using (Shown on the start screen in the bottom left corner of the screen) 3. Game-mode? 4. Are you able to recreate the issue? If so, please include recreation steps on how you encountered this issue. 5. How often do you see this problem? Is it the only time or does it always happen? 6. Have you tried any troubleshooting? We recommend the steps here as a starting point for any issues. Please let us know what troubleshooting methods you have tried while creating this post. 7. Any accessories you are using (gamepad, wheel etc) 8. Any screenshots or video of the issue? If the video is long, please include a timestamp for when the issue appears. Also, have you tried any troubleshooting with your connectivity settings for you and your friend?
