I like how you can talk to other players in the loading screen in multiplayer now, and you can see who is talking on the timing screen

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
SergeyTokarev replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Finished watching DiRT Show, good one. I don't think I have any questions left, probably :p Rally location list screen at 12:55 is interesting, though. Also, slider bellow got me thinking that there're even more than 6 locations. But, as this is a gossip thread, any wild guesses yet? I'm pretty sure 6th location is starting with M or N (and I'm talking about a country as well), take your pick: Macau.Macedonia.Madagascar.Malawi.Malaysia.Maldives.Mali.Malta.MonacoMoroccoNamibiaNauruNetherlands NepalNicaragua NigerNigeriaNorth Korea (yeah, must be this one :D)NorwayNew Zealand -
You can hold your breath?! For real? I had no idea lol. I know you can check the control scheme in the options though to see what's mapped to each button. Haven't played much of The Evil Within yet, but so far it isn't scary at all. I mean it's ok, but nothing I'd call amazing. The screen ratio and FPS are best left at standard though, and even then the camera views seem too cramped. And there was far too much film grain effect dumped on the screen but luckily you can turn that off. So far I'd say it's not worth spending full Steam price on, but I paid about £11 less and I don't really feel ripped off. Oh, and when you set the ratio and FPS with the console, you have to set it every single time you load up the game. Really can't be bothered to do that!

In 2013 for Xbox I have to use the accelerator pedal, which I presume maps to RT on the controller. IIRC it *did* actually say on the scenario screen somewhere which button to use, but it was kinda lost in the other noise on the screen... so maybe if you look close enough in 2014 it'll be there too!

SO @KickUp - great you're on this QA spree! Ever since Oculus Rift made the public, I haven't been gaming DiRT Rally or any other compatible racing games in another way. Will I have to go back to gaming on a screen again for DiRT 4?

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
SirPhilMcKraken replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
We are putting more tools in the game should people want to use DiRT 4 for eSport style events, but ultimately its up to the broadcasters and the players to say whether they want to use DiRT 4 for that. esports and car games is the next big thing.the games need to suit it. rally and rally cross could work well some games are having big money prizes.money and prizes is what gets many big players involved and interest. look at the vegas event recently. top guy got $200,000 in prize money every one in the race got a guarenteed 20,000 dollars just for being in the event. what we do need is a great cam package to show all the angles and FREE CAM ! it needs to be able to be viewed at all angles or all the most exciting ones. number of decent players leagues ladders comps would need to work . some games just dont translate.if the prizes , money for the events were decent though you would get probably the best turn out. the random map generator could be great for this make fast technical exciting comp tracks. anticheat for any events or leagues would really need to be top notch.if big money or events are on you cant allow what happened in dirt rally. too easy to get around. also even now in pro events in cs and such people are getting round it. do hope that some sorts of leagues and such do happen.aslong as the anticheat is top notch. It could definitely work well if done properly. Having CREST up on the screen live at an event would also be cool so you can see what they're doing as they're going along. -
Wish there was a way to share set-ups on console...or be nice if some of the fast guys on steam would upload screen shots of their sets...no way for us to extract that info on ps4.

@KickUp what class will that white 205 in the of screen gameplay videos be in?
-
@KickUp My question regarding the setup, a page or so back was to do with the setup not being at default values when you go into the setup screen and being all over the place, im sure it happens in dailies as well because sometimes i just randomly fly all over the place like the suspension is set way too stiff, which i know doesnt happen to me using a default setup

6 or 7 freezes on xbox tonight. Have only noted the details of 2 of them. First was Touring car, C class on Circuit Mont Tremblant, 12 ppl in the lobby, froze the "Event 1 of 1" screen. Second was Touring car, B Class on Autosport raceway Infield Circuit, 10 ppl in the lobby, froze on the "Event 1 of 1" screen. It's obvious the issue isn't because the patch is taking time to make it round the world. I hope CM are going to get this sorted as a priority before they do any more damage to their reputation. Unfortunately Grid Autosport and Codemasters are turning into a joke.... it's a shame :(

@KickUp wondering if Nvidias SMP technology will be able to be used in the game? Allows us to run triple screen with proper viewpoints, but apparently needs to be implemented by the developer.

Not to get totally off topic here, but - this is certainly not a general definition of a "realistic FOV". It might be true on your setup, but on many others this won't be true at all. For example on my setup, if I set the FOV correctly, I don't even see the driver side pillar on my screen on some cars (or just part of it at best), let alone the one on the co-driver side. Setting the FOV the way you described would just get me an incredibly unrealistic wide angle view I wouldn't even be able to drive properly with. I find it impossible to set up the FOV to appear as it would driving your own car in real life, in reality, both pillars are visible in your peripheral vision, I can't get it to look right including the left pillar without it looking like your sat in the back seat, best I could get cuts off a lot of the left side view. because of this I kept taking out that concrete post on the inside of the first uphill 90 left on Gueyfron Long just before the second water splash. A modder has fixed this to look right on RaceDepartment. Check it out. I am using a 32 inch monitor. Quote "Setting the FOV the way you described would just get me an incredibly unrealistic wide angle view I wouldn't even be able to drive properly with" ..... No sir, setting it up properly the way I describe would give you a realistic wide angle of view as it is in reality. If it's not fixed in D4, I will try the mod for DR, if that's still not satisfactory, I will go with VR and be done with it ! Anyway, just my response, lets stay on topic.

OK, here's my "Wish list" I'm sure you will get all sorts of weird and wonderful requests so let’s look at the fundamental basics of what’s wrong with DR before pushing for all the fancy bells and whistles. Personally, I don't want any gimmicks at all, I just want the basics to be right. Replay’s Current replays are terrible, very arcade. If I have just driven a stage, I really don’t want to see it again from inside the car or the wheel arches ! stage side TV camera style coverage as we had in RBR is what’s needed. Good close in stuff so you can analyse your driving to see where you are going wrong. Zoom in close with those heli views and eliminate the helicopter engine sound and co-driver voice, replace with the car’s engine sound reverberating loudly off the forest and hills in heli view. Add an option to save a replay so we can proudly post that awesome drive we just did on YouTube or find it later to show your mates. Been complained about a million times on the forums. User Interface Make it simple and safe to save your car set up, FFB and controller settings, add a SAVE button on each settings window. We like SAVE buttons, it gives you a warm fuzzy comfy feeling when you hit SAVE ! It’s currently too easy to wipe out all wheel & car settings by hitting ENTER on the keyboard then having to start all over again and re set everything, soooooo annoying ! Another popular one on the forums. Field of View Currently impossible to get a realistic FOV in any chosen view. A good FOV should include both front screen pillars in your peripheral vision with the top of the dash, top of the wheel and most of the bonnet. This has been accomplished by a modder on Race Department so shouldn’t be difficult for Codies to do it in house! Engine Stalling Too easy to stall engine, needs re-coding to be more forgiving. Spot Lamps Give us the option when setting up the car to have spot lamps fitted or not, rally cars look naked without them. Engine Sound Reverb When the car goes from the open into the forest, it would be nice to get that loud engine noise reverberation off the trees and hills you get on real rallies (those sounds still haunt me) A tricky one I know, but nice if it can be done. Windcreen Sun Strip. The strip is too wide on most cars and ruins the view. Weather Options. I would like to see "Dry and Sunny" added to all stages. Crash Realism. Needs re-coding so the car doesn't sky rocket and roll 10 times when a wheel strokes a bank. Thanks again for your time over the weekend to engage with us Paul, it's clearly gone down very well with members on here. I will send you some biscuits ... ;)

Platform: 360Region: UKOnline or offline: OnlineEnvironment: Tourers and streetVehicle: seems like it effects random carsRace type: RaceNumber of players in session: anyExact point of crash (what was on screen): Loading race screen, Event 1 out of 1.How long you've been playing before the crash: approx From 2 mins to anywhere to 2 hours. seems quite random.

Platform: 360Region: UKOnline or offline: OnlineEnvironment: Okutama, Grand Circuit BVehicle: Classic Touring car, SierraRace type: RaceNumber of players in session: 7Exact point of crash (what was on screen): The grid order screen where it says "Event 1 of 1" in the top leftHow long you've been playing before the crash: approx 1 hourAlso, I've noticed that everytime the game freezes and I come back into an online lobby I have empty square brackets where my team tag should be, ie [] instead of [NSR] and I then have to go into "Racenet Club" from the online menu in order to re-establish my link to Racenet and get my team tag back. Ppl are already fed up of this... some even more so than when we had the corrupt game save issue. CM if you're going to take any longer than a week or so to fix this then there's no point... there'll be no one left to fix it for :(

I believe it's 12 stages per event and 12 events per championship. (Because it fitted nicely on the screen)
-
That's the plan. Leaderboards definitely will be Any chance of true triple screen support? RX multiplayer fleshed out?

I saw that @RallyDriven and @Rallycameraman have both mentioned four or five cars in that class. I only remembered seeing three in the menu screen (and one of those I'm not 100% on), so I'm not that helpful there... ...given it's in the trailer I assume that they already have the license for the Fiesta R5. For me that is "the" R5 car, so I'm really glad that's in. I spent quite a bit of time in the Fiesta R5 during the test day last year and it's a blast to drive!

There was a gameplay video from the announcment event, you could see some shots of the competitors cars, there was the Lancer Evo VI (which was driven by the player), Impreza 1995, Delta HF Integrale and Escort RS Cosworth Out of interest where did you see this? There were only two rally cars shown at the launch event: the Group A Evo VI and the NR4 Impreza. Result screen after a stage from the event on yooootooob Ah, of course! Sorry, I forgot that was showing the "complete" listing!

Yeah I believe that screen comes up first thing :) -
I saw Subaru Impreza 95, Ford Escort Cosworth, Lancia HF Delta Integrale and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI all listed in a Group A results list in that 15 minutes off-screen gameplay video, so yes, apparently it survived :)

@KickUp Any possibility for: - Ingame Telemetry we can check to better fine tune the cars? - G-Meter, Pedals, Wheel rotation, etc, on screen? - Tyre choices? and the question no one asked yet... How about the FFB? Any big improvements, particularly on Tarmac?

You shouldn't get screen tear when Vsync was on as that's the whole point of it, so either game, driver or monitor problem lol Id love a 4k screen but until graphics cards are powerful enough it's not worth it. Just played a bit of Middle Earth shadow of Mordor and it uses all of my 3GB of vram without downloading the high res textures (which use 6GB of vram!) which is why I won't buy a 980. The PS4 has 8GB although not all can be used, which is why it disappointed me that the 980 only has 4gb. They really should've sold the 980 with a minimum of 6gb to start with (there are going to be 980s with 6 or 8gb soon) I only played the game for 30mins but found it really good, and it seems to be well optimised apart from the vram usage.
