The thing about multiple GPUs is this. SLI has decent support across titles, especially the AAA ones, although it can be better to play without SLI enabled for some games right after their launch, since sometimes SLI profiles just aren't up to the task yet. Usually solved within next driver or two releases. AMD side though... it's basically similar to nVidia just... a lot worse and slower. Once they add the crossfire support to a title, it works well, but given that they aren't good at it, it takes a long time. Some games may never see it actually. General rule of a thumb, if you're going for multiple GPUs, nVidia is seriously the more reasonable way to go. AMD side is effectively throwing away money currently. But in both cases it's better to have a single more powerful GPU rather than two weaker ones (unless we're talking outperforming Titan XP). Yeah, as I just got myself a triple screen setup and a friend had a R9 280x he just unplugged I figured I atleast could give it a try. Seems to be a hazzle if it only works well on certain games. Will probably pick up a 1070 instead in the near future.

Does anyone know how to capture screenshots of the results screen on PS3? I can do it from a replay but the XMB option to grab screenshots is disabled on the results screen.

I had a question about if the mirrors in the in car view will reflect what is behind you and be useful. If not will there be any form of mirror at the top of the screen to see what is behind you? The arrow that shows a car that is by you, was hard to see as it blended in. It was also at the bottom of the screen which I look at the least as looking up is more natural to see what is behind you.

Does that screen have the chequered flag showing throughout the race? As going by how China finished, wouldn't that technically mean the race would be finished at the end of lap 1? :p Yeah, it does. If I had control over what the screen said I'd just have this I think:
-
You know the the start lights in Abu Dhabi, well the bit above them is a screen where it says 'Etihad' and it usually has waving chequered flags throughout on the sides. Well, what if that screen turned into yellow flags when it was necessary, green too and maybe even it could flash and say 'Safety Car'. That would be cool.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
Fedemaisonnave replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
After my rallying experience, I started to think what would be cool for the next game to be added in order to get the rally feeling in the game, one thing it is that in the career mode to get more involved, see the car in service park, Cross the launch ceremony, and a good feature is to have an enhanced codriver, that you pay for it like now we pay for the engineers. If you have a cheap codriver he can forget a note, the splits would not be accurate, one second gap with the real time. He can get penalties because getting early or late into service or stage. And if you have a pro codriver you Will get perfect notes and perfect splits no penalties. Also the splits would not appear in screen just the codriver Will say it. This are my ideas and I would like what you think about. -
It isn't my keyboard - I can navigate the control settings screen fine. It seems to be only the email and the contract offers screen where I can't scroll to an individual item.

Can't post on my Nexus 7 (2012) without using a Bluetooth keyboard. I tap the comment box but the on-screen keyboard doesn't appear. Pasting something into the box (holding the tap) works but when I try to then edit the paste the on-screen keyboard flashes on and off.

MS collects that data in order to improve Cortana. And yes, that means if you disable her, MS won't collect it. Very simple. Given that Cortana doesn't work in most countries... most people's Win10 doesn't "record everything". On top of that when you're upgrading or installing, it asks if you allow for it to collect information as well. Just choose "No". Job done. Also, the only difference between Win10 and Win7 in terms of familiarity is the extra "settings" menu, which is used to mainly adjust the Windows Apps. Given that most Win7 users wouldn't use it, you won't even notice it. There's still the good ol' control panel and start menu aside from the extra space for tiles, is just the same, with a bit more "modern look". And if there's anything that has been moved to the new settings (which are things you won't touch most likely), it's directly linked there and honestly it's painfully similar and obvious. Ability to read is all you need. As always, great to see that people that are the first to shout their opinion are the ones that have literally no knowledge on the subject. You can turn Cortana off, but it still collects data. Not only that turning off the data options in the install screen doesn't disable as much as you'd think. There's still tons of data collecting being made. And to a further point, while Cortana is voice control, provided you spell correctly it shouldn't need to send anything back to MS. Just say "Hey Cortana, check calendar for anniversary" and it should be able to search your computers calendar locally, not by going back to MS. Y'know, the same way a text search works. I can look for programs on my PC without sending those search results to MS. There's also quite a bit different between 7 and 10. The way things are done in 7 do differ from 10, and some things may be renamed/relocated. Remember that not everyone only uses their computer for checking email or playing games, sometimes we get in the code. As always, it's great to see you trying to defend something you yet again know very little about and pass it off as knowledge to drop on other people who do. ;) Also, this. https://youtu.be/u1kGMCfb2xw And if you didn't know, that guy used to work for MS and he's deeply concerned about all the data collection MS is doing. Same reason why many people with secure/classified documents won't switch to 10 because of data collection and huge back door loopholes.

Yep. Waiting for the port report. It's the windows store that concerns me. I seriously only want full screen on my triples. Why is that impossible? Although on the other hand, that Reliant does have Clarkson's genius training wheels available, except they don't rip off.

Once again, harsh treatment from the Codemasters team. I'm sure they will be apologizing by way of tea and biscuits when they organize the community day though... In other news I will make a start on my pictures from Loheac this week. Should have a few pictures of all the fantastic racing that @ChristinaMc and co. missed because they went home early. I'm sure watching it on TV was just as good. ;) All over the tea and biscuits situation. ;) And, I would love to see a few pictures from Loheac! Absolutely gutted we didn't stay. Watching it on TV wasn't the same, :( Although being at home did give me the opportunity to second screen between WRX and F1... the WRX was by far the better show though. Very much later than planned, but I finally caught up with my photos and uploaded an album of Loheac pictures last night. Few of my faves... Full gallery of images can be seen here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/22961613@N06/albums/72157674108851266 If you guys (or girls) want to see more! Hold on, this whole time your names been Steve? STEVE!? Damn! I like stuttering better. Tbbtsttsetttst. Could make a drum beat out of that.

Will pop some pictures when I've finished sifting through them: I have pictures from the British Rallycross at Lydden to finish sorting first though!

XHamster with an adblocker doesn't cause any problems :p Really though I can't figure out what's wrong with my current one. Pretty gutted that it's on it's way out, it's been a great laptop and it was a stylish thing. I hit the power button though and it just sits on the splash screen, and it's that over and over until it eventually boots up. I've tried different hard drives, different combinations of ram, popped the bios battery, with and without the battery, it's the same every time.

My laptop has been dying for the last month or two, and it's now at the point where it takes an hour of powering on and off until it'll boot into Windows. So I'm picking up the laptop below tomorrow before work. Really don't wanna spend the money on it but I need it. i7-6500U, 8GB DDR4, Nvidia GT940MX, 1920x1080 IPS screen, backlit keyboard, and a standard 1TB HDD that'll be replaced with a 1TB SSHD to start with, and then a 500GB SSD down the line. Wish it was black really but white is fine.

I was shouting at the screen when he passed Rossi, then when he got to Cal and wasn't getting him, it was hilarious to see how ragged he got. Then that overrun had me shouting something along the lines of "have that ya twat!" ;) After that I was shouting at Pedrosa not to let him go lol.

Too lazy to push the shutter button huh? You could make a laser getup that snaps a shot when the beam breaks, then you won't have to. Well, I just went to watch some rally and only had my phone with me. I like to concentrate on the rally instead of my phone's screen so I only took that one picture.

[General] Move the sector (green/red) times They are waaay too in driving view Maybe towards the bottom of the screen

So after nearly 2 hours of practice, had my first race on F1 2016 a little while ago. Decided to go for Baku as Ricciardo, Expert AI, no assists. Not gonna write loads though because it's close to 3:30am and I'm a bit tired! In practice I was only 19th, but managed to get 5 seconds quicker than my first proper lap over the space of about 30 mins, and I was using the hardest compound. Qualified 6th with a 1:45.453, Verstappen was down in 14th 0.8s off my lap, pretty happy with that! Proceed to race, it's raining, fuck. Formation lap was kinda cool, didn't crash. Had a good start with the clutch and made up 1 place to 5th. The 4 cars ahead (2 Mercs, 2 Ferrari's) pulled a 4 second gap on me, I pulled a 4 second gap on Massa behind and it stayed like that for a while. Starts to dry though and I'm losing time. So pit for softs to go to the end, the first lap on them is super slippery, but when they warm up the grip gets good. Second lap on the softs Raikkonen spins at the castle, safety car comes out, I'm in 4th. Start racing again, still 4th, starts to rain again not long later. Pit for inters, whole field comes in and even though there's gaps I get held in the pit box and lose 9 seconds, lost 3 places while I'm shouting at the screen. Managed to overtake Vettel, and then Nasr to move up to 5th, and then finished there because the car in 4th had disappeared thanks to Nasr being slow and the pit lane hold up. Top 10: HamiltonAlonsoGrosjeanSainzRicciardo (me)VettelNasrRosbergMassaWherleinThe only reason Alonso and Grosjean finished on the podium was thanks to every car pitting at the same time and the game not slotting the leading cars back out into gaps that were big enough, which is just a bit shit! Other than that though, it's actually pretty damn good, a lot better than 2015. The AI is improved, much faster than they've been before it seems, and they don't back out as much as others have claimed (side by side with Raikkonen between turns 4 and 5 and he came out on top). The cars are harder to drive, except they feel like they have a bit more grip and more weight than 2015. The coolest thing to me is just how immense the sense of speed feels in cockpit view on Baku's 2 DRS straights, it's so damn easy to miss the braking markers, lock up trying to make the turn, and then take a wheel off on the barrier. My first few practice laps were pretty much that repeated at the end of each of the straights lol. So far, even after only having done some practice laps at Silverstone, and then a race weekend at Baku, I'd already give this an 8/10. Onto career mode tomorrow!

Well, unless some form of post-processing changes the geometry, textures themselves, the very lighting of the scene (I don't mean add based on it, like god rays) then sure, it changes the intended look. But since afaik they don't, it doesn't. It only adds on top of the intended look making it better (or worse when badly implemented). Thus the name "post-processing". It happens after you've created the intended look aka all the 3D assets, textures etc. Also last time I checked this discussion was about games, not films. Nowadays movies are made entirely from the post-processing part, I agree with that, but that's not the case with games. Unless DiRT Rally is actually a green screen simulator, in which case good job Codies at fooling us for such a long time :D

I was mostly talking about replays where Depth of Feild is way way over exaggerated for my tastes. it looks like vaseline there for sure. For cockpit views its ok for me, but true triple screen support would elimate some of this, i think. Check these last few posts off for wishlist items for D4 or DR2, they all just need to be updated now (replay) after 10 years of the same, i think CM has got thier money out of it :) by now.

Heh, I personally like to toggle between low or off. Low when it's well implemented which helps with judging the speed (that has massive benefits naturally in racing environment), off when it's just how dgeesi0 put it "vaseline smeared". Unfortunately the motion blur in DR is a bit too strong for my taste. If that would be "High" setting, I would most likely opt for low, where it only blurs the very edges of the screen and only at higher speeds.

Grim Dawn is currently on sale with a 40%-off discount on both GOG (DRM-free) & Steam. Tons of very positive reviews. I bought it & I've enjoyed the first couple hours of it so far. Solid Diablo-esque ARPG. It looks, sounds, plays, & works great. Victor Vran is another ARPG I've been enjoying for a couple months. It frequently goes on sale with deep discounts (DRM-free at GOG) & I highly recommend it. Victor Vran offers a bit more player mobility than some other ARPGs, giving you the ability to evasively roll to dodge enemy attacks, and allowing you to jump. I'm not a hardcore ARPG player, but I enjoy playing them casually for fun. Both of these games have felt comfortable to pick-up-&-play without much fuss, while also having plenty of in-game/on-screen info to smoothly guide the player through the more in-depth leveling & character/class-building stats.

I wouldn't go that far, but it definitely provided some enjoyment for a short period of times. Which would be a great thing if instead of the boring loading screen, we had an option (keyword, OPTION) to do the Gymkhana thing on some abandoned factory or what not. Kind of like the practice games that FIFA has for their pre-match loading screens. A big wish list item was rally school. Personally would love to see Dirtfish represented since they have such a unique and interesting looking playground there. Could be a cool hybrid tarmac gravel area to just skid around for practice and car control. Yeah, I'd love to see a rally school get added and the Dirtfish facility would be absolutely ideal. A short rally stage for shakedown and a nice wide open space for playing with the cars. As long as it's treated as an extra and not shoehorned into the career, then I'd say it would be a winner. Block didn't do any shouting in DiRT 3, did he? Or am I forgetting something? The only annoying voice in DiRT 3 was Christian bloody Stephenson telling me how rad I am and how I need to upload to yeeeeeew tube every two minutes. **** that guy.
