Grid Autosport Nvidia Surround / Eyefinity bezel correction / scaling glitch
GraphicsGuy replied to TerryRed's topic in Technical Assistance
Hey, Apologies for the slow response on this one. I have just submitted a fix for the bezel correction issues - it needs to go through QA, but if they don't find any problems with the fix, it will be due out in an upcoming patch. I'm not sure if it will also fix the strange second screen issues you were seeing, but I'm hopeful that it will! We'll let you know an expected date once QA have tried their best to break it :) -
What do we like about Grid Autosport?
Operator1 replied to XoxFlukeXox's topic in General Discussion
Grid AutoSport seems designed to be nearly the perfect kind of authentic international motorsport experience I've been looking for in a "simcade" console game - if/when the game works. It has some great racing elements, but CodeMasters needs to ship games that actually work at launch. 1. Cars. I like that all of the cars in the game are based on real-world cars & are made for high-performance competition. Some other car-related games try to fill their garages with hundreds of cars that are of little to no competitive use beyond collectors & admirers. 2. Tracks. I like that the game has good renditions of various real-world international motorsport circuits. I like racing games that let me drive on the same tracks I see on televised events. 3. Visuals & audio. For being "last-gen," I think the graphics look quite good. Yas Marina at night blew me away the first time I saw it. I like the audio too: cars sound loud & aggressive, tires are scrubbing, crowds are cheering, etc., and I swear the single-player narrator sounds just like Vicki Butler-Henderson from Fifth Gear. 4. Atmosphere. I like that there isn't some cheezy story attempt about "car culture" or some "underground street scene" or any other fluff. The sole focus is just pure professional-grade motorsport. That's what I want. 5. Close competition. I like that the cars within each class are so closely matched performance-wise. There don't seem to be enormous or unfair advantages to be gained by car choice, so I can just drive what I like & know that I should be able to keep up. Other games may have a bigger selection of cars, but only a tiny fraction of that selection is usually competitive in its class. 6. Distance markers. Almost every turn on nearly every track has easy-to-spot distance markers and/or visual references on approach, so it's not too difficult to hit your braking zones & turn-in points, even when the driving-line aid is turned off, and without having to frequently take your eyes off the road to check the mini-map. 7. Proximity arrows. I like that on-screen proximity arrows indicate where close-following cars are, so I don't have to constantly keep checking my rear-view. 8. Controls & assists. The controller layout is fully customizable, so you're not stuck with default button presets. The difficulty level has many configurable options (driving assists, AI skill, flashbacks/rewinds, driving line, damage level, etc.), so you can tailor the experience to your liking. 9. Flashbacks. I really like that the single-player real-time flashback/rewind feature smoothly lets me choose the exact moment I want to instantly resume. I can't stand the way flashbacks in other CodeMasters' games break me out of the moment into an alternate camera view & drop me back in after a rough pause. I also never liked Forza's rewind that goes in pre-set chunks & always dumps me out at the worst spots. If any racing game is going to have rewinds/flashbacks, Grid AutoSport is the perfect example of how to do them right. If you like racing games, I think there's a lot to like about Grid AutoSport - but all the great features & content in the world can't make up for a dysfunctionally defective game. I want to enjoy this game, but all of CodeMasters' work won't matter if they don't fix it soon. -
Am I right in saying the unrealistic cameras are used due to limitations about what can be rendered on screen? If so then with new gen hardware it should be much easier to get those awesome heli shots in!

@loore read please , question for people that have had data corruption?
monster227 replied to V8R3L3NTL3SS1's topic in General Discussion
causes that have caused my save file corruptions (14 and counting) 1. doing sp 2 cars more than double there original value. 3 tuning constantly removing itself from cars. 4 game crashing on load screen. 5 game still saving when race starts. -
So, I noticed this happened first a couple of weeks ago and it kept happening sporadically since, reaching its peak about 10 minutes ago. Basically, ghost sessions keep lingering about in the Custom Match selection screen in Custom Cup - online. This is how the session list looked like for me tonight: Basically the two sessions showing 2/12 players are accessible. None of the other can be joined nor will disappear from the list. It didn't bother me before but it's now become quite annoying seeing that 6 out of 8 sessions are in fact "bait". That and the fact that activity in the lobbies is now officially at GRID 2 levels again, obviously... So, anyone else stumbled upon this on PC? Is it just me, or can we add this issue to the already interminable list?

If co-op is in F1 2014 I'd like to know if it will be available in split-screen & lan in addition to online, or if CM will still do the least logical thing and make it online only.

LOL dude PGR4 died. It was new when the 360 was new. It has the same 8 maybe 12 people playing it........................................................................Boring. Awesome game tho. But its far too outdated, with its clumsy nonsensitive handling. However it did have save replays, time attack, weather, bikes and cars. Leaderboards, Proper online ranking system. Global Tournaments, Daily tournaments, Nordschleife. Team Online ranked matches/playlist Single player unlocked cars for use online. Codemasters could really learn a thing or 10, about how to make a racing game by checking out PGR4. PGR 5 on an xbox one, that would be great. But the team that made it have split. We certainly dont want CM giving it a go. NO NO NO! I totally agree, you forgot one thing the dirty racers. The dirty racers did make it more interesting. BTW, your guess on my previous tag was right

Which issues are ACTUALLY going to receive a fix?
Tony031R replied to Tony031R's topic in General Discussion
Yup, that's the issue I'm talking about as well. Thanks for the tip. Makes sense. I believe it also works if you reselect the RaceNet Club livery for the car you're going to use in the My Vehicles - Car - Livery screen before entering the lobby. It's probably a problem with the game's RaceNet sync. Shouldn't be something particularly hard to fix, I guess. -
Yeah I heard there was only about 15/16 tracks or something whereas most racing games generally have 20 or more. Or if they are limited for tracks then like Autosport they split them into different layouts and call them different names like Yas Marina Championship circuit instead of GP circuit which refers to the F1 layout. Besides given it was built around being a release day game as it was I believe it was designed around showing what the console can do rather than showing off loads of features. Future games on the console will be the other way round have moer features as people will be moer aware what the console can do by then.

Which issues are ACTUALLY going to receive a fix?
Tony031R replied to Tony031R's topic in General Discussion
@Loore, thanks. It's very good to know the repair costs are now scheduled to recieve a fix and are past the "we're looking at it" status. Also, presuming "currently being investigated" translates into "we'll figure it out and patch it", all will be well in Autosport land once again. Your post almost made me more tolerant towards the AI in RaceNet. :) Regarding ghost issues, I think @Photonik explained the situation a bit more in depth here: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/3037/fix-the-fucking-racenet-challenges As for myself, I had some issues in Time Trial yesterday where the PB Ghost Car kept showing up behind me on the mini map and on screen even though I was constantly clocking lap times 0.2-0.5 sec. slower than my PB. Also, if you use a friend's ghost as a marker in RaceNet Challenges it sometimes doesn't display correctly. I had it stop showing up after the first lap twice so far. Another two or three times, it displayed correctly though. PS: If we could get this kind of updates more regularly, just someone to come out and say "yes guys, we're not ready to deploy a patch yet but we're making progress with this and that and we acknowledge this and that" it really would limit the amount of frustration and rage shown around here. :) -

Grid Autosport Nvidia Surround / Eyefinity bezel correction / scaling glitch
TerryRed replied to TerryRed's topic in Technical Assistance
Well the newest patch has NOT solved the problem, nor has Nvidias newest drivers. A temporary fix that I have found for me... is to change the refresh rate to 30 hz. The problem will still be there, but when I change it back to 60hz, then the problem is gone! I have to do this everytime I start the game. Again, if I have a 4th screen enabled, then the bezel correction is fine. Please fix this Codies! -
I play with the further back of the two cockpit cameras, this is on a triple screen setup. I think it's just fine (in all cars tested so far). My biggest complaint (beyond the "blurry cockpit cam") is that the in-car mirrors don't work at all, kinda lame.
-
Also I forgot to mention the constant issues in Custom Cup events online. Freezes, AI disappearing, hanging on race results screen, black screen, time delays on other cars (meaning that you could be side-by-side at the line but the other car jumps ahead by several seconds because their race started before yours), & so on. Do you even beta test your games Codemasters & @Loore? EDIT: Oh, & I forgot about the "DLC", what a joke, rehashing cars from previous games. Is it too hard to just include those cars with the game @Loore? Even worse, the future DLC cars are already in the game, hidden away. You can tell because the AI use them in online Custom Cups. Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, Nissan Auto Gallery R32 & GTR Spec V, Zenvo ST1, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Alfa Romeo Gulietta, Tyler McQuarrie Chevy Camaro & presumably many more are hidden away, just like the Merc SLR 722, Aston Martin Zagato & Mclaren F1 GTR were before being made available to buy...

yeah I agree I think CM have come under a lot of fire lately and most of it is unjustified as I felt that Grid Autosport for me is probably the best game they 've released since F1 2010 not saying that 2014 will be up to that standard as I doubt given the F1 team aer probably split down the middle right now with half of them working on 2014 the other half on the next gen F1 game but it does give me hope they're getting back on track with the level regrading and the mentioned tweaks to career mode.

A lot of questions.... Here are the answers
KingHamilton01 replied to Hatta's topic in General Discussion
I am curious to know what the interface of F1 2015 will entale, think this is very important to the game, seem's as if though they have already taken a leaf out of Fifa with the in season updates which is good. I hope we will see the return of rival's mode where you can race your team-mate or another driver from another team with a friend on split-screen and online. The other mode I missed from I think it is f1 2010 where you had the hot lap shoot-out where you take it in turn's to set fast lap's and slowest one round get's eliminated. I am sure Codemaster's have lot's of fresh new and innovative idea's which I am looking forward to seeing. -
simple ideas for future F1 games development
MUZZARIOL replied to SamuelTrautman's topic in General Discussion
Honestly the HUD is a big thing for me, the motoGP games use the official Dorna HUD and it gives you a good kick to see your name and nationality up there exactly as it would be if you were a real motogp rider, I dont know why Codies dont use it for F1. As it is Codies give you the option of customising their HUD (for the most part) to switch off anything you dont want on screen so I cant see why it wouldnt be a well received move from Codies to go down the FOM route.. -
Levelling up cars for tuning.. an alternative please!!
TUSMBOX replied to Hammerpgh62's topic in General Discussion
I have several cars over level 25, and haven't gotten a corruption yet. I can't remember who said it, but someone recommended not making changes to the car at the pre race screen, only in your garage, and it has been working. I noticed with previous saves, that some cars would already have tuning options available for it when it's clearly not high enough of a level to obtain it. I'm not having that problem, and I've been getting lucky this far. -
simple ideas for future F1 games development
SamuelTrautman replied to SamuelTrautman's topic in General Discussion
i dont like the commentary idea at all, perhaps for watching replays but certainly not whilst racing lol the hud is very intrusive, also the info the game gives you is most of the time in the wrong place, the messages about people joining leaving the lobby also take up too much space and are not transluscent, whilst you can turn the hub off you cant get rid of certain thing on the cscreen, like the stupid time marker that appears with 5 mins to go in qualli and proceeds to countdown what times left, then people start retiring and a big white box at bottom appears telling you who's retired, left the game, entered the game, then someone votes to end session and you got loads of useless info on your screen whilst meant to be quallifying. some changes are definitely needed in that aspect! -
Who's hoping the same issues won't emerge in F1 2014?
MarkDavis94 replied to DiscoDave's topic in General Discussion
I understand your comment but the point is the F1 Gaming Community were very active and provided a LOT of feedback to CM to apply patches. I remember from one thread someone mentioned that the "All Equal" mode was broken. CM initially denied it. Then a massive influx of posters responded with videos, times, evidence until CM were forced to acknowledge it. And what was our reward? Removing all the evidence. Removing all our hard work without acknowledgement. Conveniently removing the primary method in which people complained and raised bugs for month after month, hoping people would just forget about it. You mention split screen in your comment so I'll assume you're a console gamer. Did you ever participate in online leagues? A lot of us did and bugs that did not make cars equal and higher FPS for quicker lap times made it pointless because it was not fair. Most of the glaring bugs affected PC players more. Play on Xbox and PC. I can imagine the FPS issue won't effect the console gamers, due to everyone having the same hardware and frame rates being locked, and whilst I did play a lot of multiplayer on my 360, I've not raced online on my PC. Did both these issues get patched for the PC? -

MarkDavis94 replied to DiscoDave's topic in General Discussion
No actually, I'm hoping all the same issues do emerge, really looking forward to it, 10/10 /sarcasm No one wants bugs. And closing the forums has nothing to do with the quality of F1 2013. You pay for F1 2013, you get F1 2013, you're not paying for the forums. If you want to talk about issues of F1 2013 then do, but if the most frustrating part is something that isn't to do with the game it seems you don't have a lot to complain about. I've put in a couple hundred of hours on F1 2013, playing a load of split screen with friends, and the only bugs I experienced were The A.I getting unsafe release in the pits and driving underneath me and overtaking me in the pits, which was actually quite funny to witness but I think that got patched. The A.I sometimes running the same compound of tires for the entire race and not getting a penalty, and sometimes the game freaking out and giving me unlimited flashbacks which I'm not complaining about. I see a lot of people moaning about "hurr durr codemasters moar like bugmasters" but I've owned all the F1 games and I've never experienced any game breaking bugs or glitches -
monster racers recruiting. (1st in leader boards) ps3
SASBlink replied to monster227's topic in Clubs
That's silly. kicking people to make room for your own members. thats just unfair and you have no respect. I am a manager of a team and we don't kick non team members from lobbies just to make space for team mates. You back out to party screen, invite them in to the group lobby and and start a new custom lobby or enter a new playlist. kicking and discriminating for that reason is just wrong! You should be ashamed! -

@Loore How much longer on this Patch...??? I lost many hours with the latest Save Corrupt. I hope mine can be fixed. My Xbox kept freezing on the loading screen, which is why I believe my "Save Data is Corrupt"
