DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Looking at the description they need to add passionate about rally.  Oh and likes the taste of GRAVEL in the morning :) Trying like mad to figure out what is on that PC screen in the backgorund. At first I thought it might be a terrain editor, but now I think I'm convinced that its an editor for a race suit for the F1 game. On the LHS it looks like a glove and maybe the RHS is a Force India race suit. or maybe not.
  2. Another pro of online practice: -you don't have to stare at the screen with your arms crossed for a very long time while waiting for people to join. You can actually play the game while waiting for people to join the lobby and bypass the most boring part of online play. GT5 & GT6 had that, it would be nice if CM did the same for their racing games. Another option would be to do include an option for the game to search for available lobbies while you practice in time trial and automatic connect you to the lobby once it find one that's available. Fighting games have system like that, it's a pretty neat system.

    The PC Thread

Vram will always increase, but only a few games will use say 6+GB. While these consoles are around, it won't change much. obviously at 4K Vram will go up a lot, so I think those cards will be great for that. I won't be moving to 4k for atleast 3 years or longer. At the moment 1440p is my limit, as writing and other stuff is small enough, so at 4k I'd need a magnifying glass. Hopefully by then everything will be scaled properly. At the moment Steam is hard to read at 1440p unless I sit close to the screen. Big picture mode is fine, but that's because it's 1080p rather than 1440p. Btw as I'm bored and have no life, I tried looking for the argument, has the thread been deleted?  Edit: Investigation complete, I've found some of your posts. Did he really call you 14 :joy:  Quote:Originally Posted by RevolvingPrawn I think I'd rather spend $150 on a well built and good looking case than $400 dollars on an ugly one that looks like they used Meccano to build it. Also, the front fascia is not the vented front panel, the front fascia is the plastic surround which has the front feet built in. Post from silly guy:Nor sure what Meccano is but since your build is so awesome why not post a pic, let us see? EDIT: nvm I looked it up lol, I should have known another punk B*** 14 year old talkin smack behind his pc playin with his erector set. With my caselabs "meccano" I build watercooled pc's while you build  cranes and steamengines.

    F1 2015 Fuel

I know they've done a lot of work on the fuel system and how it simulates what you're burning. Can't say as I've seen how it is displayed on screen yet but the version of the game I've been playing is back from the start of the year so not everything is in it. Post up an example picture of the fuel graph you are referring to and I'll see what I can find out :)

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

https://instagram.com/p/gGWfugEQHy/ Old image but Dear God! I feel mitigated. It's either DiRT 4 or first GRID disguised in rally outfits... whatever lol The stages bar is on the top of the screen and it looks so much CMR based game; at least a proper rally game as you promised us. I would wait 4 more yrs for this game to be perfectly developed.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Even if those reasons are the licensing of cars and/or events, they could still release a screen shot of an unlicensed rally track (or something) just to get interest bubbling away!

Yea, it seems good, but worth spending that much money on? I'm not so sure. Plus I'm quite happy that SLI 980's still beat it fairly easily ;) Super super impressed with the Z3 still, normally with my S3 I'd have every feature turned off, used screen brightness as low as I could get it, barely ever used data or any intense apps from trying to eak out a bit more juice and I'd usually end up with anywhere between 5 and 30% battery left come bed time.  Today with the Z3, I left every single extra feature turned on, like Wi-Fi, data, location, sync, about 3/4 brightness etc. Used YouTube, Spotify, took a fair bunch of pictures and vids, as well as more browsing than normal and the usual showing it to my colleagues. I took it off charge at the same time I would have the S3, it was plugged into USB on my PC for about 5 mins while I transferred some music on, but otherwise no real charging. It's at 52% left B) Already love this phone lol.

Strange, do you have the original Metro 2033? Normally they are seen as good developers that support PC, The Evil Within doesn't shock me though. One of the worst ports imo. Yes they added full screen and 60fps, but no optimisations was done to support those features, and the graphics are awful. Weird that I just booted up TEW just before you said that, I'm giving it another chance after @Lukedfrt said he just completed it and it was awesome. I Just find it hard to get into the game, but I'm trying to lol. Enjoy your new phone.

Yeah, hopefully they'll have a leaderboard on the side of the screen in qualifying. Although it's a bit weird why they wouldn't apply it in the practice sessions if they had that graphic available.

Na they are there, its just they rarely put them up.  Maybe for quali they'll sticky them to the screen?
  12. Sorry my english, I'm argentinian. Please, more data on the HUD! I want to know the position of all grid, not only the one or two ahead or behind. I think may be can exist three pages of eight drivers each, and a button for passing from page to page. Also I like to know other situations of the race: pit of other drivers, accidents, penalties, change of 1st position, etc). More data on the screen! Thank you.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

The above photo is related to a feature Top Gear filmed at Lydden Hill race circuit in December last year. @ThierryNeuville. There was an "Evening with Top Gear" livestream broadcast before the current season of Top Gear started last year which showed a little bit of the World Rallycross feature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8T1rMsJtQU&feature=youtu.be&t=45m40s (The video should start at 45:40, skip to that point if it doesn't) Because I was bored at work one day, I took a few screen grabs. From those you can identify most of the cars in the trailer... #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 #9 #1 - Hansen 208, Kevin Procter's Fiesta & Ollie ODonovan Focus. #2 - Hansen 208. #3 - OOD Focus (foreground), Hansen 208, MINI Countryman & Procter's Fiesta. #4 - Koen Pauwels Focus, Hansen 208, MINI Countryman & Procter's Fiesta. #5 - Hansen's 208, Marklund Polo & Foust's Polo. #6 - Onboard, looks like a Polo. #7 - Pauwels Focus. #8 - Looks like a Mk.6 Fiesta, Tommy Graham's old car? #9 - Steve Hill's Evo X (on the left) The latest gallery on BBC America... http://www.bbcamerica.com/top-gear/photos/season-22-episode-7-photo-gallery/#10238 ...includes shots of Petter Solberg's car (and Solberg put a picture online from Lydden the week they were filming, so it looks like he is driving), plus Andreas Bakkerud has indicated he was there, so it looks like OMSE were involved as well. I can't wait for the episode to air (on Sunday). The clubman rallycross feature Top Gear did a couple of years ago was one of the best things Top Gear have done in my opinion, I hoep this one is as good.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yep, they have been reading OUR forums..  Oh well..  Milestone games have always seemed a little stiff in someways.  Not sure if its the lighting or how the car interacts with the environment (I don't mean car handling) always seemed like the car was pasted on top of the screen.  The new motorcycle game looks the same, has a flat feeling to the environment.

It's like that WHEA error or whatever blue screen when you overclock too far lol. It relates to a bunch of different things, but you know really that it's your overclock. Talking of which, I popped back down to 4.2 again. Couldn't get 4.3 as stable so I didn't wanna keep it there and I didn't really wanna bugger around with it again. Had to drop my GPU OC by a smidge too, think that along with the CPU OC may have been causing a few issues. Since dropping both though my PC has been all good, so thinking I'll probably leave them as they are now.

    The PC Thread

So I just had my PC crash, the screen went blue and displayed this message "your pc ran into a problem dpc watchdog violation" I was like Watch Dogs? I wasn't playing that lol.  I have a feeling maybe my DVD drive coming unplugged caused it. The power port on the actual cable is broken, and due to cable routing is stretched. I didn't want to add another cable to my PC so hence still using the cable, plus it's the only cable that has the power connector my sound card uses. I don't really use my DVD drive, so I'm going to leave it unplugged.

    Improving Codemasters Image

@JustBigLee : I'm genuinely impressed that you can see & acknowledge this. Others might be quick to write off negative feedback as just "haters," but everyone here is a gamer & an auto racing fan, and I think we all want to see CodeMasters succeed with quality games. The better your games get, the more we buy, the more we encourage our friends to buy, & the more fun we all have. It's win-win for everyone (including you & CodeMasters). Spot on. It absolutely does not matter how awesome of a Community Manager you may be if the games you represent are severely defective. All the videos, live-streams, interviews, dev diaries, screenshots, contests, & give-aways in the world can't make up for broken & low-quality games. In my case, it's entirely up to you (CodeMasters) to restore my faith first before I give you any more of my money. I no longer have enough faith in CodeMasters to purchase from you at or near launch again (definitely no pre-orders). I'll wait until your next game has been in the hands of real customers long enough for issues to be discovered, and I'll be monitoring CodeMasters' efforts to support its games (on all platforms) post-launch. If convincing evidence of launch quality & prompt support is there, then I'll be next in line to buy - but for now, I'm done buying on faith. Show actual game-play. I want to see & hear what the game is like when the controller is in my hands. Too often, game companies mostly show pre-rendered cinematics, cut-scenes, & stills that bear little to no resemblance to actual game-play. Show as much actual on-screen in-engine game-play footage as you possibly can (HUD, menus, & all), the exact same as it would look if I was actively in the middle of playing the game myself. Connect game features to customer feedback. The Dirt, Grid, & F1 games all have long histories with years of input from customers - prove that you've been listening. I don't care to hear what game-makers have to say about their next game if they don't acknowledge what their fans/customers have said. Please don't insult me with canned marketing lines like: "We're taking advantage of next-gen capabilities to deliver a thrilling new experience like never before." Virtually any game can spout vague claims like that. We've heard it all before. Show me that what went into the game is based on what customers/fans actually want. For example, a dev diary about the next Dirt game might say something like: "Our fans have been saying that they want the series to get back to our rally roots, and we're here to show you how we're doing exactly that [cue awesome in-game rally footage]." Show that you're delivering more than just graphical updates. As far as I'm concerned, the graphics wars are over - graphics are no longer as much of a competitive advantage between games (& platforms) as they once were. Game-play trumps all. Graphics were already pretty nice on prior generation hardware, and squeezing in a few more pixels & polygons ain't gonna impress anyone at this point - neither will more lens-flare. How are you innovating with game-play? Show how you're delivering a better game, not just a better looking version of the same old recycled game. Show how the game will still be fun & rewarding 3+ months after launch. Games that only provide a week's worth of content & activities are barely worth a rental, let alone full retail price. Games that fake longevity through contrived grinding are just tiresome. Games that rely heavily upon online features when servers are unreliable or soon shut-down are worthless shortly after launch. Stagnant online public lobby playlists get stale fast. Show how you're designing genuine longevity into the core of the game itself  (and not just through DLC). Make it work. Please don't try to dazzle me with fancy features when critical functionality is unreliable. Show that your highest priority is providing a fun, smooth, trouble-free gaming experience. I honestly don't care how realistically rendered the grass/turf is when my game-save file gets corrupted. Function over features. I shouldn't have to babysit my games & repeatedly run through checklists of precautionary measures & back-ups just to try to work-around the game's defects. Don't waste my gaming time with troubleshooting. You don't have to build in every feature I ever wished for, but the features that are present must work reliably. Commit & deliver. Too often, CodeMasters' responses are either non-existent, or vague & non-committal. A "soon" reply to important questions & issues frequently seems to turn into to weeks or months (anything but "soon"), if ever. I don't expect you to divulge every confidential detail, but either commit & deliver, or just immediately own up to the fact that it won't happen at all so we can move on instead of clinging to false/faint hopes. Like what? And what are you waiting for? Stop talking about it & do it! :)

    Improving Codemasters Image

We want videos like the dev diary and screenshots and videos of the new titles (dirt and f1) in action we also want the dev Q&A sessions you mentioned in video form because having F1 2015 added to we at the twitch before it's released would be silly but not even that it's just because no one wants to watch a live stream of it I mean people want to be able to go on YouTube and skim through the video. Maybe during these videos you could put screenshots / gameplay on screen while the codies babble on ! I hope you can actually answer us and do what we want for a change. And we really appreciate you replying to this thread especially since you didn't even start it because you are the only codie who has said a word on this forum in the last 6 months or so since Steven Hood has left.

Looking awesome for DX12! Imagine the performance boost we'll get using our 980's :)  Just got back from where the head honchos work, they did give me a laptop! CPU-wise it's nearly as good as my own laptop, the only things that don't match is mine has a bigger screen, 8GB RAM, a GT 740M, and my SSHD is 1TB :) Still, pretty happy with what they've given me! http://www.shop.bt.com/products/dell-latitude-e5440-intel-core-i5-4210u-4gb-500gb-sshd---8gb-flash-14--windows-7-professional-64-bit-9LKG.html

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

In other news.... It seems likely that I'll be getting a Toyota Yaris as my first car. Obviously it won't be anywhere near the level of the Toyota Yaris WRC, but at least it's a Yaris. Also, the way Rally drivers seem to keep having positive responses reminds me of that dream I had a long time ago (and posted on this thread). The next DiRT really seems very authentic, but you guys already know that. And it's great that they're calling in real drivers. A while back, when s/one posted the WRC 5 stuff and the Seb Loeb Rally Evo screen, @ThierryNeuville commented on how the physics needed to be 'realistic' and mentioned DiRT as an example (I think). Does that mean the next Rally SimCade is leaning more towards the Sim side now? Or do they have both a SimCade and a Sim handling model? Finally, congrats on the 2nd place finish at Rally Sweden, @ThierryNeuville , and on Hyundai's first snow podium.

GRID AUTOSPORT will not run in Full-screen

In Windows 7 you can go to "My documents\Documents\My Games\Grid Autosport\hardwaresettings" and there you will find "hardware_settings_config.xml", wich you can open with notepad for example (rightclick / open with) and there you can set "fullscreen=false" to "fullscreen=true", and also adjust the resolution to the propper resolution. Maybe that helps? Tough i have to say that here at my computer it likes to start in a windows too. Even tough sometimes it was last exited full-screen. What i do when it starts windowed is go to options directly, set my resolution and to fullscreen (sometimes it is even already set at the propper settings (2560x1440 fullscreen) but still runs in a window! And when i done that (either change or see that it is still on the right settings) i exit options and the game, and just restart it. Nine out of ten times it starts fullscreen than. Weird i know..
