The large PCU-8D display wheel (http://www.mclarenelectronics.com/Products/Product/PCU-8D) , which most teams run this year, doesn't show the speed in the default screen as the drivers have many screens they alternate between.  In the game, this type of display shows :  Top left : When you cross the finish line , it shows the difference between the lap you just completed and your previous lap. Top right : Current position Middle : Gear Bottom left : Engine temp Middle and bottom right : Average front tyre temp on top of the average rear tyre temp It's only the teams that elected to stay with with the small display PCU-6D (http://www.mclarenelectronics.com/Products/Product/PCU-6D) that show the speed all the time, namely Red Bull, Williams and Lotus.

Try Algarve, just drive onto the kerbs on your corner exit, and see if you get a penalty.   Some points, you can get a penalty for touching the kerb, not having all 4 wheels off the track.   Sepang, has a hairpin, and a sharp left turn, on the sharp left turn there is a pole, and if you stay to the right of the pole, maybe clip the pole you only have 2 wheels on the kerb, and it corner cuts you, everytime.  There are many others,  Telling someone to position themselves better isnt actually the answer in 100%of penalties. CM should follow the system used by Forza, and just mark the lap a dirty if all 4 wheels leave the track. Not cut your speed down, for 10 secs, for a 0.1s infringement of track edges.    If someone does an @fanticUA cheater style, and cut every piece of track, they should have the lap marked as dirty, and their speed reduced.  I believe in Forza, if you go so deep into the grass, then you end up on sticky grass.  So a massive cut of half the track isnt possible at any speed that would do you any favours in any situation.  5:30  I get a penalty for avoiding a collision.  I even let off the throttle.  Race ruined.  http://youtu.be/qnfLULvPUVg     I only watched up to the penalty. Thats all I needed to see. You extended the track 3 times in the first sector, 5 times in the first lap and you complain about the legitimate penalty you did get? As for the caption on the screen........How did you gain time? Well if you'd gave slowed down to stay within the track limits you would have lost time wouldn't you? But you didn't, you kept in the throttle and extended (The 7th extension in only 1 lap and 4 turns I may add) For someone so vocal about driving standards....Yours are low. However, on a positive. Your racecraft is excellent.

Ah, I have to just tell them that I changed motherboard because it broke right? Also, do you know what cables I will need to buy and what Thermal paste is good? Nah you don't even have to say a word :p It's all automated. When Windows tells you you need to activate, just choose the phone option and the telephone number you need to ring will come up on-screen with about 12 boxes filled with numbers. You need to type the numbers in on the phone, then the robot reads a bunch back to you that you put into your pc, and when you click done/next/finish it should then activate :) With thermal paste, Arctic Silver 5 without a doubt. Also best when you're applying it to just put a small blob in the middle (see pic below) and press the heat sink down onto it. It'll spread the paste for you evenly and without air bubbles. Whatever you do, don't listen to anyone that says you need to spread it first lol :) Oh and cables, you might need a SATA cable or 2, but usually the motherboard has 1 in the box. Best to be prepared though and buy 2 just in case. That should be it really! Cheers, for the help, one last thing though, how many fans should I buy, and which ones? :) Ok, I spoke to someone else, and they directed me on it, is this good to go -  http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/23JZqs (Overriden a few things, price was not much different)

No chance with new games.... I have a 780 and only run 1 monitor albeit at 1440p but it's going to start to struggle soon. I agree the 770 4gb is fine if you're running single monitor like I am at 1080p which is why I went for it but if you plan on doing multi screen you'd need to do it SLI I think with these cards. That or go with the 970/980
  9. Oh wow I did not think about that!!! Even in that end of race screen when you get xp towards your discipline, it shows nothing about your overall level. So when you do level up overall and you unlock something like sponsors or garage space you have no idea when or why you received those unlocks. Again confusing.
  10. It would have been cool to see the overall level show up on the lobby screens and then either a / or decimal. For example I am at like 129.60 in Touring and 129.30 in Street. Meaning that my overall level is 129 and 60 in Touring. Or just use 129/60. Put the overall level in white and the Touring level in blue.  This might cause confusion but, it still causes confusion when say someone like me is barely at level 20 in Street but still at overall level 129 so on the main screen I can show ahead of somebody that is level 30 in Street but say level 50 overall. It always causes confusion by people who do not understand what it all means. If we can be proud that we show up as lvl 99 in a given discipline. Why can't we be proud of our overall level. Even if you look at another players stats you cannot tell what their overall level is.

Drag Racing - Reaction Times and Tunning

The graphic on the left side of your screen actually represents your tire. And in Drag Racing it will go by the bottom of your tire and wheel. I am not sure how high it is from the ground.  But you can roll all the way though the "staged" light as long as your tire is still not completely broken that line you are fine. That is called "deep staging" & the faster the car the easier it is to red light. "Deep" staging can give you a bit of head start and the head start is the length of the tire I have not figured out if the game adjusts from car to car with the tire length. Meaining that the Miglia tire length is much smaller than say the Veyron's. But, as far as if the game knows the difference I am not sure. When you play the Drag Championships you will see the AI will go really far up the staging lights because they will turn off the Pre-Stage light. For the Drag Cars I usually "Shallow Stage" which means I only cross the beam with the 1st part of the line on the staging graphic. Because it takes a lot less time when you go, to trip the beam that I usually "Red Light" meaning that it shows I false start. So if it is a slower car I usually go past the middle of that light by just a little bit. As far as tuning I have not 100% got that down yet. On the more powerful cars I try to use longer gears. To keep wheelspin down some. Also some downforce helps with the wheelspin. Usually the shorter the race the more downforce I use. To get the Drag Cars to pull wheelies I lock the diff all the way raise the ride height all the way. Soften the rear springs all the way and stiffen the fronts all the way. Then put the downforce all the way up. Then I just nail the gas and hold on if you feather the throttle you can keep the car going for a bit before you hit the wall or pass the center line. I have almost made it all the way down the 1/4 mile with the fronts all the way up.

    GAS Freezing

Ok, raced in an online lobby tonight for two hours with no crashes or freezes. That's good. However, when I attempted to race the British Touring Legends career season the game froze on the Donington Park loading screen. Seems the freezes are not unique to online play after all. Not good.

    F1 2014 Feedback Thread

Okay, my feedback after playing for a bit over an hour. I'm on PC, I have a G27 wheel and Fanatec Clubsport Pedals. I use no assists and drive in cockpit mode. I've tried out Singapore, Bahrain, Brazil and Abu Dhabi so far.  1. The handling model is something of a contradiction. On the one hand yes there is a sensation of more torque at times, and maybe a touch more wheelspin than '13. But it still feels easier. The cars are light and very, very pointy. Nimble even. I didn't have many lockups, which is fine as I felt that was over-done in '13.  In spite of the torque and wheelspin I felt like I had the hang of things after a couple of laps. I was driving around Singapore at first which is not a very forgiving track usually and was able to do a 25% race with no mistakes. I quickly went back to 2013 to do a direct comparison and the cars in that feel very heavy and understeery by comparison. So '14 is pleasant to drive, I like it. But is it too easy? Will I get bored in the long run? Hmm. 2. Pretty much everything bar the handling and the liveries are exactly the same as '13. They've just cut out the YDT and the classics. It's true.  3. It's really weird not having KERS. My hands keep going to hit the KERS button and it's not there. This adds to the sensation of simplicity that you get from the game. Not Codies fault, obviously. Having an 8th gear takes some getting used to, and I suspect the reason some people are getting more wheelspin than me is that they are spending too much time in the lower gears. You need to motor through them pretty quickly.  4. The steering wheels (bar Red Bull and Williams that are proper ones - though just last year's I think) are atrocious. Very low res, ugly and chunky. I hope the modding community can fix them. Even the digits on the display are blurry. Poor form.  5. The graphics on the PC are not better at all. They even look slightly jaggier when I back to back '13.  6. There are quite a lot of little bugs that I have spotted already. In a 25% race I was able to select fresh tyres even though I should have started on the tyres I qualified on. The mirrors are completely messed up - on a 3 screen setup everything is a jaggy, blocky mess. Can't make much out, it's some sort of graphics error - or lazy port of the PS3 version. I had my DRS not always work properly. The racing line doesn't rubber in hardly at all. Worst bug I encountered was my steering going to hell after I used a flashback.  In summary the handling refinement and livery upgrade is worthwhile, but I think at £30 it's over-priced. Codies could have bought themselves some good will by pricing it a bit less than usual given the limited effort that has clearly gone into it. It also would have been nice to see them put some more authentic features of this year's season in - like for example when you are doing quali laps you can only set a hot lap every second laps as you have to recharge your battery in a cool down lap in between.

    The Game Thread!

Just demand a refund and get it from GMG, if they refuse say you have a screen grab where it says it was instock and as it's clearly not its false advertising  :p
  15. Well I've just given the game a quick spin and I am underwhelmed. On PC the graphics are the same if not a step backwards on last year. Everything looks and feels identical presentation wise.  The handling is slightly different, though I didn't experience the uber wheel spin some of the reviewers have been on about. And yes I turned all assists off, of course. Force feedback feels weird but that is probably tweakable in the settings.  Bug I found immediately is that on a three screen setup at least the mirrors are useless because the graphics in them rival something from 1980s Atari, they are all blocky.
  16. I am looking at doing similar, not buying a PS4 if they are creating a monopoly on wheels for Thrustmaster. I am looking on pcspecialist website and seems to me that AMD is the only way to go if you're on a budget of £500. My budget will be maybe twice that much max. But I'm no expert, are there any people out there who can give us some guidance on a gaming PC for £500 - £1,000? Pros/cons of PC BTW:- Pros - supports your wheel, triple screen option, should be more powerful (smoother/sharper), some nice mods & maybe even "tracks", lots more choices of F1 games - Iracing, Assetto, RFactor etc. Cons - the league I run is on PS3/4 and I am loathed to give it up, mods can also be cheats, even less people online, make sure your weekly virus scan doesn't kick-off while you're racing.
  17. Big thanks for your comments, I have got a Fanatec CSR wheel and looking to buy PC made for gaming, not top end but £500 for desktop only got all other parts and pc will be linked to big screen. Sounds great and will now read about iracing and give that a go. Heard about about it but never really went into it with being on xbox. big thanks

    The Game Thread!

Well The Evil Within has been somewhat of a disappointment so far. It's a shame because the opening hour or so of the game showed some good promise, starting out in a hospital waiting room full of dead bodies, to then venturing in the sewers below whilst some big angry beefcake stalked you and threw a hissyfit every now and then.  After that though, the game takes you out of the city and dumps you into some woods that are scattered with shanty wood buildings, which are occupied by some incredibly idiotic AI zombies. So after an opening that seemed to have a great setting, some great set pieces, and quite an interesting atmosphere, you basically get dumped into Resident Evil 5, only it's dark, not sunny. I got to a point where I'd slotted a small village full of zombies (that can only hit you once every 30 seconds) when, quite predictably, another chainsaw wielding beefcake boss popped up. And after meeting him I gave up for tonight. The standard enemies go down in 1, maybe 2 shots to the head, or you can sneak up behind and stealth kill them. This Leatherface wannabe... I used every single bullet, shell, harpoon, and explosive I had and he still didn't go down. The worst part is that he can run faster than you, his stamina bar doesn't run out and cause him to stop while bent double huffing and puffing, and he can kill you with 3 hits. So suddenly the game goes from zombies that take so long to hit you that your health bar has actually regenerated back to the same health, to nearly unbeatable demigod. Then of course you have the voice actors who sound pretty uninterested in the lines they're reading, a story so non-existent that Destiny's seems to have been written by Shakespeare, awful black bars filling the top and bottom of the screen, shoddy camera views that hurt your eyes to pan, console level graphics, and blocked achievements if you use the console (even though I was only trying to change the ratio and FPS with it). I could only say this game would be worth getting if the price was £12 or below. I'm hoping it'll get better and that I won't be stuck playing a Resident Evil 5 clone for the rest of the game, but after an hour of good intro, and then an hour and a half a repetitive zombie killing in a never changing location, my hopes aren't particularly high.
  20. The burnout animation screen is pretty cool though. And it works with every car that I have tried so far. The Indycar burnouts are pretty cool, and the Miglia is pretty funny it is just a small little chirp. Ineed to try some other cars too.  I have a tough time using the clutch with the Funny Car. For my fingers it is just too much going on for them to keep up.

Loore, now game freeze in... custom lobby, waiting when will race finished (about 5 min), freeze on screen track loading... Mont Tremblant South because game s*** (not worth the money spent), first more better (not here, not this) ...better freeze GAS, than FH2...
  22. Thanks for the reply. I guess I will just let you guys know that I'm all for it. :) I don't know, but I think a lot of players are with me on this one. I especially like the two songs during the career mode intro and also the first one's variant during the Black Edition teaser video. Some of the tunes which play when you are on the pre-race screen (Race, Quali, Practice, Upgrades, etc.) are great too, as well as most of the menu songs.
  23. Sorry to bring it up again, but constant crashing and freezing is "making the experience" at the moment on the 360. So bad now that the online players are fleeing the sinking ship like rats. I tried again last night. One lap in to a Miglia race and it went. Spare time is too short and precious to keep staring at the Xbox bootup screen.

    GAS Freezing

Been saying for years console owners get shafted by games prices, even after buying a box full of PC bits no one wanted four years before.... That just my opinion though   I not only get freezes (requiring a reset), I get sudden and unexplained game shutdown and immediate relaunch in windowed mode. Launching the game it suddenly jumps to windowed mode, hit ALT+ENTER full screen, switch to windowed, ALT+ENTER! Revert to windowed mode (re-launch required to stop this). These are happening every time I play and usually 4 - 5 times every session...
