I'm not really sure why, it just made me feel ill. I wouldn't know about screen tear as I always use Vsync. It's all personal to what you like. I mean I can still play at 1080p or lower otherwise I wouldn't have an X1/ps4 but if I play games on PC at that they look ugly (ish) compared to 1440p, plus I don't have to use AA really. When does your 980 come bud? I probably would've bought one if I didn't buy the PS4 and only the X1. Now I don't have a custom waterloop it won't cost me so much to upgrade which is good. I'm just waiting for Shadow of mordor to download, don't think it'll be ready until midnight though as its 34GB :# My two SSD's are going to get full quick with the size of the games now... I do get what you mean :p It's almost like it's too smooth and it throws your brain off balance a bit, but you do eventually get used to it, and for me now seeing anything below 50fps or so seems a little stuttery. The 980 should be here Friday morning :) Could have had it today, but I wasn't home and I won't trust my neighbours with something like that. I'm not too worried about games looking a bit ugly at 1080p now though, I'll be testing the DSR/SRT on the 980 when it's in :D And it's a shame you bought the PS4 dude, but I'm glad you bought your X1! It's awesome having someone to game with on Destiny :) Ah yea, you won't have to buy a new waterblock for your next GPU right? How much did it cost you for just that part? And what size SSD's? I keep seeing 512GB ones for around £150, and they keep tempting me :p But I will hold out this time!

Well, we're on the same size, mines 144Hz though :) Couldn't go back to 60 again, the screen tear was horrific! No specific reason you didn't like the 120Hz?

0:58 is Ricciardo's helmet : http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/redb-ricc-helmet-2014-1.jpg I don't see the old Vodafone McLaren. I don't know what stripe you are referring to ? The F14T has the black stripe on the rear wing and on the rear bodywork just like the F14T launch spec : http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/ferrari-f14t-2014-2.jpg Oops, I though we were taking about the entire trailer. I do see what you were pointing out in that moment of 0:57-0:58 (I thought you were referring to the parc ferme celebration with Ricciardo) I made a screen shot for the frame in question, so others can see it too : Any reason why you showed 2013 @Hatta ? http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t478/NytRyda/f12013or14_zps2e61b57a.jpg

How can I eliminate the force feedback dead zone on the Fanatec CSR wheel?
Scrench replied to deregibus's topic in Technical Assistance
Me too. What little FF I do feel stays the same thruout full rotation, never changes. Tried everything from 0-100 on FF Settings menu. I think the main problem is that our CSR wheels are not supported by the game, only the the CSR Elite and lower versions. These wheel work great with Xbox and PS, not so much with any F1 PC game. I know of one of the better players on Youtube, Ben Daly, who just switched to the CSR and loves it, but alas, he's playing it on Xbox. My Replay doesn't work either. It goes to the panel with the transport control screen, but stays stuck on pause and rewind. No other button I push allows replay to work. Someone did a full paste/copy instruction that I could load into the game by erasing what's there and installing it, but that's over my head. -
Russian gp demo f12014 gameplay courtesy of GameRiot
Liaveil replied to mjchaney96's topic in General Discussion
If ERS is in the game then I imagine it would be on the car setup screen if you can set where the power is applied. It doesn't activate like KERS does as there's no manual input from the driver. It's all automatic. I'm not sure if it's been confirmed one way or the other but I would think it would be in new gen if not this one. -

No way can that be XBOX 360, that vid is surely from PC ? Nowhere in the vid or description does it say its the XBOX 360 version... In the last few seconds of the video on the results screen you can see at the bottom the relevant XBOX 360 controller buttons..... Maybe it's PC but i would say it's more likely to be the 360! -
I agree about the wireless vs wired and also you say about both being at 30fps would yield the same results, they would, but as you said that higher refresh rates will get a better response time on PC then surely reaction time would be quicker on the PC if you were hitting 120fps on the PC the input time is going to be greatly reduced enabling quicker reactions. The polling rate would really only be relevant when the frame rate could exceed the input rate ie if you could run an Xbox/PS3 at 200fps then the input polling rate would cause lag as the input can't keep up? So taking the diagram above on PC there is a lot you can do to improve your overall response times and make inputs quicker and smoother, this must make a small difference in lap times over a console for the same person on whatever input device they are used to? To be honest I am really talking from a PC view and that is what I am used to, always upgrading to make sure I have the max fps and is always more than my monitor can handle so I know I wont get slowdown due to the monitor refresh rate (Titanfall comes to mind), which as you say can be tied to GPU or monitor performance, I don't use Vsync, I prefer to let the frames hit their max and see what sort of adjustments to make to get it hovering around my monitor rate to avoid screen tear. My console knowledge is limited I only owned a PS1/2 and I have a 360 which has dust on it, maybe I'll fire it up and try it with my G25 if that would work, anyone got a free copy of GAS for the 360 they want to donate for an experiment?

- In-race commentary from the BBC crew David Croft, Martin Brundle with comments about the race, who's leading, accidents, retirements, etc. and Ted Kravitz in pit lane covering news. - driver/team communications. So being able to advise need for tyres, front wing, change in weather or who's in front/behind and how far. - telemetry would be nice, say on the left side of the screen showing either top 10 or all drivers and time differential. Sorry if someone has suggested already. I'm seeing very good ideas.

When you go to him it'll say the level in the top left of the screen. I've only had two random invites since the start, you must be a popular guy :p

@Rallycameraman, It is. the camera basically moves with your head. it can go up, down, left, right and tilt in whatever direction you move/tilt your head. the newest model also has built in speakers (though not 360 degrees yet) and LED lights all round the head. I think they bumped up the screen res too. can't confirm that, though. here's a vid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wjvbQ2uJDk Was seen earlier in a Codemasters HQ photoshoot. You forgot to mention that wearing it makes you really attractive to women and may give you neck muscles like an F1 race driver. Seriously though, I reckon it would be great for snowboarding games.

Fast lap came from smooth driving. Smooth driving came from perfect car control. Perfect car control came from frequency. There is frequency: of frames(game itself and display), so more frames - faster reaction on what is going on screen;of "signal" wich was sent/receive from_input_device/to_game. The more you sent and game receive and display it to you - the more smooth diving you have. We know about monitor FPS, game FPS but we do not know about game "clock" for consoles and PC(also with diffent hardware). I belive input devices have their own frequency and when they are connected to PC/console they can be limited by speed of this ports too(but ofc i think its more than enough for drive perfect). Also we can have some soft troubles with our devices. Anyway its useless discussion unless Loore give us info from devs but i guess its not worth.

Actually it is just one screen divided into two sectors for each eye, so the vertical resolution is cut in half..

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
Ruben Correa Alves replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
The Oculus Rift is a device that you put on your head and over your eyes. inside this device there are two screens, one for each eye. Also implemented into this device is a motion tracker which tracks all of your head movements. The Rift then sends this information to the game to update the movement of the game camera and the game then renders into the device. So what you have is head tracking device and a screen that's inside of a device that blocks all other lights in one. I have tried it a couple of times with a custom racing simulator and it really is a big improvement for racing simulators! -
Faster lap time... NO. More fps means smoother gameplay. Skillful reading is an art i guess. Did I not say that already? Xbox 360 - Yas Marina - Sierra TT - 1.59.3 --- 30 FPS PC - Yas Marina - Sierra TT - 1.59.3 --- 60 FPS My cars stats do not increase with the frame rate. The game runs smoother at 60 FPS on the PC. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOUR CARS ARE QUICKER. Im not sure what skillful reading is, I just read whats on the screen. Im sorry if you got upset, but the idea of the frame rate making cars faster made me laugh. Its not the first time you have said that. Its not the first time you have been corrected. :)

Why do you believe that? The PC can display more frames in 1 second than the xbox or ps3, how is that going to influence any laptimes? You do realise that the frame rate, has NO effect on how fast a car will accelerate or its top speed. LMAO - are you sure your part of the PC master race??? Did you know if you get a 120 Hz TV, you will go 20% faster than if using a 100Hz? ROFLMAO You really are a wise guy guy here, don't you. And now try to read CAREFULLY what others wrote about that, coz i won't repeat. ROTFLOLAROTLOL Yes I've read the comments. No one thinks FPS is going to make you quicker. Smoother gameplay yes. Faster lap time... NO. With regards to the choppy videos, that seems to happen in the recording, it's not actually happening on screen on my xbox. More fps means smoother gameplay. Skillful reading is an art i guess.

I always play in full screen so that's not a problem. Still can't see how it'll be ready for November. The wet tyres using the old F1 cars don't even change from slick tyres and many details like that are missing. Might go on classic Monza to see what the recording is like. What will the frame rate be like in the video? As when I've used Fraps it was low but while playing the game the frame rate was 60

I thought it was probably recording slowdown but I must say when I tried the XBox the lack of fluidity does actually make it feel slower but as said it wouldn't affect top speed etc but may effect input response time.

I have a 240hz TV just didint know about monitors and if would make diffence in PC gaming Not really unless you can pull 240FPS to match the 240hz monitor, the difference between 60FPS/hz and 120/144FPS/hz is quite noticeable and a lot more fluid but the jump to 240 would not be that different. Also TV's are different to monitors in relation to hz, 120/240hz TV's are not really what they appear, they use double frames to achieve the same thing that a monitor achieves with one, TV's are not so great for gaming due to input lag and high ms response times, not too bad for racing but for shooters they can suffer ghosting and blur. If I was in the market for a monitor for PC to do everything I would buy a 24" 144hz one that is 3d capable, just make sure you have a decent graphics card to hit over 144FPS consistently to benefit. You always want your graphics card to produce more frames than your monitor is capable of as you know then you are getting all of the frames, if less you can induce screen tear.

Shadow play works well :) You might get a bit of an FPS jump when you start recording, but after that it'll only knock a few FPS off. Just make sure the game is set to full screen otherwise Shadowplay won't record.

NEW F12014 GAMEPLAY AT TOKYO SHOW RELEASED!!!!!!
Rayg1979 replied to mjchaney96's topic in General Discussion
Its the little things that are missing to, when he drove out the garage the steering wheel was black I.e. no led screen in the centre. To me it looks like someone first attempt of modding 2013 to look like 2014 -
I thought so too during the race, it just occured to me afterwards. Gotta admit I was cursing at my TV screen when they didn't want to pit him despite his pleas. Yeah, I was doing the same, haha. I was with my Dad just going 'oh my god, just pit him!!'
