    Grid Autosport

I had a question about if the mirrors in the in car view will reflect what is behind you and be useful. If not will there be any form of mirror at the top of the screen to see what is behind you? The arrow that shows a car that is by you, was hard to see as it blended in. It was also at the bottom of the screen which I look at the least as looking up is more natural to see what is behind you.

    The Game Thread!

Actually, come to think of it, an Ultimate Team style online game mode could be rather interesting. The car is split into its components (say the engine, gearbox, front wing, rear wing etc.) from each team and with different attributes. For example, with the engines, there would be three to choose from. The Mercedes would be the best engine but the most rare, Ferrari second best engine and Renault the worst and would be more common. To keep things even more interesting, engine mapping and upgrades as consumables can improve the performance and other aspects of your car. Although if they obtain classic licenses, you could have other engines. I'm not sure how it would all work out, but I'd love to see some sort of new online mode.

GRID3 "a must have" features list.

A list of nice ideas: Here's a list from steamcommunity thread we've created a while ago with some decent suggestions concerning Grid 2 The Ultimate suggestions list. -1) Don’t make walls that provoke wallriding! 0) List of servers with ping, including playlists (ping bars on players). 1) Text chat. 2.1) Online practice mode or Time Trial mode. 2.2) Or at least let us use upgraded cars in Single Player // by Tex-Rec 3.0) Balanced cars (so there are no dominant 1-2 cars in each tier). 4.1) Force push2talk ON by default.  I love voice chat, but right now I have to mute most people so I don’t hear every sound they make (if they use speakers - it’s a disaster). 4.2) Give an option to mute people during a race or at “session results” or at “event entrants” screens. 4.3) Add “Mute voice chat” toggle hotkey. 5.1) Global Challenges are now more like “Friend Challenges”, why do I have to visit Racenet website for *global* results? 5.2) At least add a link to racenet/challenges webpage inside the game // by DonSeismo 6) Look left/right when using bonnet cam should turn 90 degrees, not 45. 6.1) Rear/side view mirrors (by Annabell) 7) Map overviews and map name when loading and in “session settings”. 7.1) Also while choosing a car. // by The grizzly It is often annoying when you join right as the votes are over and you can only choose your car but cannot see the map that is coming up. 8) “Reset car” hotkey.  9) Derby mode in “Everything” playlist // by NY GAMER 9.1) It should be downloaded automatically. 9.2) Allow to use any car in Derby // by Aaphree 10) “Block list” // by [VQ]Kibo Mark them with a color and ignore voice chat? 11) Corner Cutting is way too aggressive at times.  Having 2 wheels on a curb should not be penalized. 12) All tracks should be free. Why break up already small community?  == Small things that would be nice to have == 1.1) Numeric values for topspeed, acceleration and handling (easier to compare cars). 1.2) Numeric values for exp. 2) Option to save replays after each race. This will help to fight cheaters (or at least ban them), learn from the best and make great artwork/videos. 3) I’d love to have spoilers as new cosmetics. 4) Steering lock in “advanced wheel settings”. 5.1) Diversity in Global Challenges and more challenges:  - tracks AND locations shouldn't repeat until they all have been rotated; - there should be circuit/sprint/city variety; - tier variety.  5.2) Custom or *permanent* global challenges with every track/tier and global stats // by EVGA GTX 770 6) Show full information (tracks, damage, collisions, etc) when searching for sessions and inside a lobby (including race progress like laps/minutes left) without going anywhere into session settings.  7) Let us choose a car after joining a session that is already in progress.  Right now it forces last used car. 8) Let us purchase/change upgrades inside a lobby.  9.1) “Spectator mode” that you can enter after joining a session that is already in progress.  9.2) Full HUD in a “spectator mode” (or at least a speedometer). 10) Player ping (session results and lobby). 11) Free roam mode. 12) Sell or remove cars. 12.1) Sort cars in the order of use. I'm tired of going 9 cars to the right to select Corvette every time in a playlist. 13) Permanently show the fastest lap during a race (yours and overall). 14) When there’s a connectivity problem, game should ask if you want to reconnect to the same session, not just drop you. 15) Show stats for players that are highlighted in a lobby (as in “view stats”). 16) Show own upgrades in a car select screen or lobby. 18) Some menus are not responsive.  Example: I can hit “online”, press right, select “global challenge” as fast as I can and still get to “global challenges”. This doesn’t work for all menus (selection is too slow). 19.1) Host migration for custom events after 2 minutes of host inactivity (I think that's enough for a bathroom break).  I'm sure we've all been in a situation when everybody is ready to go, but the host fell asleep. 19.2) "Next host" feature in "custom game / quick match" for the same reason // bySteMinardon 20) Let us name&save controller profiles just like liveries.  Right now they are reset to default values when switching from one to another. 21) Leaderboards for every track/car. 22) An option to disable the echo effect when driving near walls. // by Prophet Too often it sounds like an opponent is right behind you. 23) Customizable HUD - position, colors... // by Zazurca and Prophet Right now it’s hard to see on light background. 24) Advanced wheel settings for unsupported controllers // by Prophet 25) "Suggested gear" Gran Turismo style // by Prophet 26.1) Class restriction inside a tier for both single player and multiplayer // byTestTestTest 26.2) Min level restriction for online custom events. 27) Ability to name custom events // by Ibot 29) Numerical tachometer // by Aaphree 34) Visual damage representation Grid 1 style as a part of the HUD // by Aaphree 35) More country flags // by Ōkami 36) Add drafting/slipstreaming // by [VQ]Kibo 37) Add a horn // by Good Homer 38) Better scenery camera angles in replays so they don't pan into obstacles or remove them completely // by Redwing 39) Allow host to set the number of AI cars, rather than it just filling the rest of the field // by ProdigyXP 40) Add the ability to save your own custom playlists // by ProdigyXP Dirt2 did this perfectly, where we could create all of your settings/tracks and name them for easy recall. 41) Adjustable positioning of HUD elements // by ProdigyXP Initial complaint was about the map position. 42) Custom livery support for Global Challenges so it's easier to tell who's ghost you are chasing // by pmf026

GRID3 "a must have" features list.

You forgot one feature for online, in the race results screen, need to show best lap times for all players. Codemasters forgot this feature in GRID 2 and had to patch it in.

    Track names when picking cars

Can you please make sure, that the name of the next track, is plastered all over the screen, on every screen displayed, from the point you are returned into the lobby.
  7. RTAnoskills

    Lets talk corner cutting

I dont want people to be able to cheat by not getting a penalty,  All I want is to only get a penalty where its deserved.   e.g. The last S bend on Indy GP,  Sometimes you throw the car in a split second too early, and cut the inside of the corner....Thats a penalty....im ok with that one, as it is corner cutting.  Its the gass on the right, if you slide your back wheels on to the grass, your front wheels are still on the track, you save the car from spinning, only to get a penalty.  There is no need for the penalty, you lose all your time sliding around on the grass, so nothing has been gained, only lost....so no need to give a penalty.  It could be a close race 1 lap to go, that happens and the race is denied a close finish,   Its just frustrating to get penalized unfairly.

    GRID Autosport confirmed cars/tracks/features

This is a VERY long shot, but:  It's been said they are playing Grid Autosport. Well, if we take a closer look at this screen... Well well well. What do we have here? A Koenigsegg Agera perhaps? Totally on basis of the shape of the headlights, and how they are elevated. This is a totally long shot...and probably wrong, but eh :P

    Drink of choice while playing?

Click on the cog shaped icon in the bar at the top of the screen. Then click preferences, you can change what notifications you get there :)

What you want to see from GRID

Split screen is there. First thing I always do is turn off motion blur . . .bloody irritating gimmick. When riding my M/C if I saw MB like presented in racing games I'd be over the nearest hedge . . On another point . . . Loore was definitely listening to us, I mean, no chat and no spectate . .yep, siree, he surely was listening. Just because features you wanted aren't in doesn't mean we didn't listen. Unfortunately we had a pretty big list and sometimes you don't get everything you want. We're still looking at chat, isn't a definite no just yet. It's easy to say you listen, and because of what that translates into is why I say we only get paid lip service. I mentioned in an earlier post: "There is no streaming text chat in SP, there is no Spectate in SP . . . so if we don't get them online, online is no different than SP . . what is the point in racing with "live" players when they only actually exist in the imagination ? If I can't communicate with a "live" player I might as well play SP . .and if I'm playing SP why would I want to pay for half a game ?" Through all forums, as they have come and gone, we have never stopped making chat and spectate two of the biggest requests so no matter how big the list is they should have been at the top. This is going to be an interesting event as we haven't long to wait to see how it unfolds . . . starting with the "pre-order" book. Many of us have already stated we have no intention of buying anything until after launch of any CM game, and after we have tried our "demo" . .whatever that might be. When the gloss has worn off, for those who buy on launch, the flaws will start to show . . and on that feedback will our decision be made. I have read the articles from respected journos, and even from CM staff who were less than happy with Grid 2, all of which confirmed many of the criticisms I directed at CM,and as the saying goes; "you can't kid a kidder". CM have a long history of making frivolous games so the psychology behind the suggestions in video, magazine, and online that Grid 2 was aimed at a more casual mainstream audience fits that brief perfectly. This, of course, is why some CM employees, along with the rest of us, have been puzzled by all the floundering around trying to find a direction . . .because let's call it as it obviously is, CM have been directionless for quite a while. This is hardly surprising as saying you are now a serious maker of racing games, have a history of lightweight games (that isn't a criticism, just look at the full list of games produced by the company),, and make comments about directing Grid 2 at the more casual general audience would even have me wondering where I left my identity. Because of costs and timing if it was down to me I would launch Grid Autosport in June as the " focus group", so to speak. What I mean by this is Grid Autosport has enough of the features we want to give a feedback of how successful taking this path is. If it proves to have sufficient success this will confirm the correct direction to take . . .even if that means making what we have been telling you to make all along . . an updated version of Grid 1. Innovation is a wonderful thing with any imaginative developer wanting to flex their creative muscle, but when you have a winning formula you build on that, not allow innovation to run riot destroying everything that was good and which had created the success in the first place. When things go wrong you have to trace back to find where it all started to unravel . . .had you done that you would have arrived at the place all the gridders have been shouting about . . . +4 What he said. We wrote many posts in the old GRID 2 forum of where Codies went wrong with GRID 2 online and it seem Codies has only half listen to those many posts. Multiplayer Do's and Don'ts. The shocker is GRID 1 was one the few racing games in the laast 9 years to get online pretty much right. Online was still strong after 3 years and the online servers got turned off to soon. Us GRID fans are shaking our heads wondering why Codies can't deliver again. :(

Rain causing Black Screen with Sound!!!

another fix that some might wanna try is to go in C:\Users\******(your username)\Documents\My Games\FormulaOne2013\hardwaresettings and open with Notepad hardware_settings_config, then folow the 1st line untill you find <directx forcedx10="false" /> , what you must do is to change false to true, that way you force the game running on DX10 instead of DX11. For some reason my GPU gets bugged with this game and ONLY with this game, its like it struggles to run it properly in DX11 but fails at some point, so turning it to DX10 sorts my Black Screen for good. Hope this helps!!!

    New Forums - Feedback thread

Today I've sometimes had to refresh a page to get anything to show up. Like I would click on a category and the screen would have nothing on it, just white, but then I refresh and it's there. A bit odd as that hasn't happened before. EDIT: Sorry, just realised this issue was posted earlier. At least I'm not the only one experiencing this issue then.
  17. 1) Auto-reconnection after disconnect 2) If 1) is not possible, then ability to re-invite a disconnected driver after Quali has finished. 3) and if 2) not possible, then the ability to set up a “Race Only” with fixed grid positions and weather “outlook” (not just “Dynamic” but with exact rain % etc) 4) Corner cutting – ability to set “strictness” level. Also display “No. of Corners Cut” as an extra column on the results board! 5) Lag – change sync logic to “assume the best” rather than “take the average” with collisions. We still get collisions that only happen on one person’s screen not the other – this should never be possible. 6) Make cars slightly more robust in collisions. 7) Online replays – and from any driver’s perspective (like Gran Turismo). These would make our League forums more interesting and also promote the game on youtube. 8) Dumb down “Pad Steering Assist”. Get a top pad and wheel driver to help you tune the amount of assistance so that Pad users don’t have an advantage. 9) Weather “Outlook” as well as Percent Chance of Rain. Then the percent chance of rain can be just that rather than as it is now – percent of race that it will probably be raining.  10) EDIT - a big one I missed out. With Private Lobbies replace the GOTO RACE button with an "I'M READY" button. Allow the host both options.
  18. Hey all, i just installed my game today, all was well, but when i tried to start a new Gran-Prix, but it's download resulted in black screen and crashing... Same with the Classics. I'm playing on laptop (HP ProBook 4530s), Intel Core i3-2330M CPU @ 2.20 GHzAMD Radeon HD 7470M Any help?
  19. I'm kind if split between touring, endurance and open wheel really as I'm primarily a track race type driver I chose touring as that's where I've had the most experience on the grid games. I'll be spending most of my career I would think in those 3 the most on Autosport
  20. I decided to have a play of Grid 2 online again. (Haven't played for about 8 months.) Just to see if any improvements have been made and if it is still active. I was surprised to find it is still quite busy, but I am having a strange issue in some races. My position shown on screen bears absolutely no relation to my actual position on track. In a race just now, I ended up absolutely dead last out of 12 cars. My position showed 6th. And then suddenly changed to 8th. Yet I was clearly 12th. What is going on???

    Grid Autosport

Common misconception that GRID 2 was being made for 'several' years, simply not the case :) Completely understand if you've lost trust, I've said it before, will say it again - that's fine. It's entirely up to us to re-earn that trust. Regarding the 5%, obviously lessons have been learnt and we're not above admitting we made decisions that didn't go down well. I'd like to think that when looking at features to put in the game we don't just look at how many people used it, it's what's right for the game. Even less people use split-screen but we still include that for example. Same as female audio names, the call for those are smaller than their male counterparts but it doesn't make them any less important. Team have been working flat out around the clock to get Autosport finished.

    "Next" DiRT game wishlist!

If you look to rally games before 2000 and now, there where much more tracks and longer tracks back then and much more diffcult if i can remember correctly. I remember doing a rally of 20 - 25 minutes in Network Q Rac rally, i thought it was Chirdonhead. You needed to drive clean(what i wasnt able to do back then :P) to finish the rally. Nowadays i don't have that anymore. Maybe they need to split the franchise one time they make a showdown part with gymkhana, drifting and that kind of stuff and the next time they make a rallysport part or something with rally and rallycross.

    Grid Autosport

Will there be an "Any Car on Any Track"-option in the game for Single Player ans Split Screen? So I can Drive with an Veyron or LMP2 on San Francisco maybe? Will there be preview-pictures of the full car and maybe my custom livery in the preview? I always find it cumbersome to pick my car for the race when choosing my car by only the front-tires. Maybe most people don't care, but I often choose a car spontaneous due to the look of a livery. -> It would be pretty cool, when the game takes in-game-screen-shots of your current custom-livery and adds it to the car-selection-screen. so you can instantly see the car and you custom-livery on the selection-screen. That would be really cool. Can my AI-partner in the Career level up together with me or is it hire-and-fire like in GRID 1? May be an odd question, but he would be more likeable. In Grid 1 the partner was always like "I don't care". In Dirt 2 it was rather cool, that they had some personality. Will some cars be limited to one mode like "drift" ? It always annoyed me on GRID 1 that I couldn't use a Subaru on standard races. It would be cool btw, if some future installments og GRID or DiRT would have a coop-campaign - or that it would be possible to play the singleplayer-campaign in coop, too. I always wondered why there are no racing games like that.

    Grid Autosport

And we're off again :DI'll be buying the game for the single player as even though Grid 2 had its problems, most of which were in online play, I definitely got my monies worth out of the single player.Very good to hear that single player is basically returning to Grid 1's format as Grid 2's story/career mode was very dull. But the big elephant in the room that no one has really touched on yet is the online mp.I'd really like to know what has been done to address all the issues of Grid 2's mp.For me the Playlist really needs to have as default.NO FLASHBACKS!!!!Forward collisions onlyNo extreme collisions when 2 cars 'appear' to barely touch each other causing the car behind to spin out or the car in front rammed 100 meters forward, which was one of the main reasons Grid 2 failed online.Damage on (but I can live with damage off)Mini tournaments/events based on one car class, same as Grid 1No inappropriate car classes on inappropriate tracks, ie Grid 2's tier 4 cars in tight narrow street circuits. No tuned cars, we want an even playing field, rather than being out raced by the minority who know how to tune their cars better than us mere mortals / non petrol heads :DNo corner cutting penalties, instead use off track obstacles to stop players cutting corners or drastically slow the car down when it drives over grass/gravel etc, just like Grid 1.End of screen stats to includeCurrent WRBest LapPersonal Best indicator against each player for all to seeA return of Grid 1's Time Trial, none of that silly Time Attack nonsense.Looking at the video on my smartphone it's hard to know whether the overall speed has been toned down towards Grid 1 levels rather than Grid 2's almost F-Zero X speed. We want true wheel to wheel racing where we are not spinning out at the slightest touch or being rammed off the track at every corner none of which was helped by the full on arcade extreme speed of the cars. The major complaints on the old Grid 2 forum wereNo cockpit view - fixedDLC mess - fixedHandling - fixedOnline Ram fest - ???PS Where's Captain Granddad Jack :D He did have a (cynical) way of looking through all the PR talk even if he got a little bit too obsessed with it all at times!!PPS Hello MiatakiasGR :D

2014 Formula 1 UBS Chinese Grand Prix

Does that screen have the chequered flag showing throughout the race? As going by how China finished, wouldn't that technically mean the race would be finished at the end of lap 1? :p If Ferrari see this post, they will demand FIA to hand the 2012 and 2010 title to Alonso :P :-O SOMEBODY SEND THIS TO LUCA!  2010, with half points awarded for a first lap chequer, Vettel would have scored 243.5 points to Alonso's 249.2012... Vettel would have finished with an extra half point lead at the end of the season :( You sure ? Vettel started dead last at Abu Dhabi last year so that would mean no points for him. I'm too lazy to check though.  :P
