Snaky115
*Opens stage 1 in league*... Did someone say Fooooord? :DEDIT: Yeah, just for giggles i am gonna do this one in Colin's Focus. Wee! Apart from slight overslides and a 360 spin on the fastest straight in Monte, this went okay.
Dytut
It was a hard decision, but I went for the Focus 07 because I've hardly ever driven it and it was time to learn. Surprisingly enough it actually went quite OK. A bit of pinball here and there, a few messed up hairpins and one small spin in the second half, but I'm quite pleased by the result. Managed to beat @Snaky115 which I've pretty much never done in Monte, and managed to keep up with @SimMoniti's pug up until stage 3.
Snaky115
You beat me on Pra d'Alart even once out of the two chances. =OI couldve competed far better, but like you, its a bit of (re)learning the Focus 01 for me, as my Subaru 2001 does have a 2 seconds better time on Pra d'Alart than i did in the league with the Focus 01, which just slightly surprises me. What a weird car. edit: Doesn't help it was really weird to drive this thing on my weak side of Monte - stage 2 and 3.
SkyRex
Thanks to @Hatward I got my team running again, so I finished Monte today. My first plan was to chose my trusted '01 Subaru, but since there are already so many 2000's cars competing I thought I add a little diversity with chosing the Delta S4. A car that I have not driven much yet at all, so it's also a nice opportunity to find out how I can handle it.Result, I even won two stages, but lost to much time on the two snow stages, Currently I'm 2nd, 0.6s behind Arete, very close last stage. baunau
Had a hard time deciding which car to drive for this season and my first thought was to stay out of my comfort-zone, but ultimately decided on the 2001 Impreza (which I'm kinda familiar with).Knowing that the car is quite predictable I pushed quite hard from the start and (except for a few missed braking-points) managed to get through SS1 and 2 without any incidents. On SS3, however, I had a few "pinball-moments" but to my surprise it didn't cost me that much.Didn't have time for more that three stages tonight, unfortunately, I just hope I can keep up the flow tomorrow night. Some really good performances from the rest of you guys, I haven't got a chance against those times (...but I'll keep trying). YoMrWhite
To add some variety, I chose the Citroen for the season.Monte Carlo was very disappointing. SS1 went okay, in SS2 I survived a roll with only minimal time loss, but in SS3 I picked up a puncture and had to repair it. From then on, I mostly cruised through the stages in order to finish and maybe pick up some points.

Snaky115 snatched 4th place 3 seconds in front of Ferranis in 5th. That_guy and EinsZwei duked it out for 6th and 7th in the same car, with baunau trailing behind a bit in 8th. Snaky115
3 Stages into Sweden. Man, so thats how it is like to drive Focus01 in Sweden. :D 3rd stage was clean, even! The rest might not be, whenever i continue.EDIT: Par the course - my Hamra runs are 6m 15s 381 and 6m 15s 300. baunau
After a really disappointing effort in Monte Carlo, I'm happy to say that the complete opposite was true for Sweden. Stages 1-3 were clean, although the low visibility on 2 and 3 had me ride the brakes more than I should (better safe than sorry). My concentration started slipping a bit on SS4 and my reward was a half-spin which sent my car halfway up a snow-bank.Got back into the groove on stages 5-7 and they were all clean and (almost) flat-out.I don't care which position I end up with at the end of this rally since I'm really pleased with my performance and had a great time driving the Impreza today. :)
Dytut
Weeeeell... The Focus 07 is quite nice in Sweden. So nice that I managed a spin on every single stage I think. Most were OK, losing 5 seconds or so, but one on stage 4 started out as a silly spin due to leaning a bit to much on the snow bank, but a hidden rock in the bank must've caught in the car because all of a sudden I was turned upside down and had to reset.I'm in the lead now by some weird twist of fate, but guess I'll end up about 3rd or 4th in the end. YoMrWhite
If only we could leave Hamra out of the Swedish... I'm either too slow there (SS1) or I crash out (SS6). Add two stupid spins in SS3 and you get 7th place. Could have been 5th with a bit more consistency. Sigh...

Way too much sliding wide, which also threw me off the road three times :-/ Most irritating was at SS6, where I was just going through the last jump into left five and something (no idea what) nudged the car right just enough to throw me off track and straight into a reset 15 meters before the finish line :-P

Taking a break in the middle of a drive can be hazardous, when I'm in the zone for a league drive even going to the bathroom may make me lose my touch for the next stage. On the other hand, if it's going bad a break might be just the thing to get back to focus.

Dytut
Finland was a mixed bag. Stage 1,3 and 5 were clean and decent, stage 2,4,6 were awful with spins. I should've gone with a more durable setup aswell. Thought it felt fine at shakedown, but by the halfway mark of SS1 the radiator was already going, and had to take real care not to wreck the engine on the latter half of the event (hissing started on SS3). Engine almost gave up on SS7, slowed down and just nursed it home.Made it through at least :-)
baunau
Driving the Impreza in Finland was... annoying. Couldn't be bothered to spend time on fine-tuning the setup so I ended up with one that didn't stray too far from the default, i.e. felt like piloting a bouncy castle on wheels (...or at least how I'd imagine that would be like). The rebound after each jump and crest tossed me all over the place and I consider myself lucky to have finished at all.On every stage I would either hit a tree (sideways or head-on) or do a barrel-roll, sometimes both. Lost my left-rear wheel about halfway through SS5, but managed to keep pushing and make it to the end of the stage without incident. All in all, not my best performance, but certainly not my worst either. Went quite well overall, slight stopping contact with a bush on stage 3 and 7 but apart from that it went all quite well. As Simmoniti seems to be on top this season, might I suggest a constellation for the next season which you can consider to maybe choose: What about a similar Open-Season but in a more National-Championship style, specifically with the following classes allowed: 60's 70's 80's, Group A, Kit-Cars and R4.What would you think of that? I like the combination of different classes, but I think anyone who chooses 60's, 70's or 80's will stand no chance here. I would suggest Group A, Kit cars and R4. That should make for a season with a lot of variety and nearly every car should be able to compete for the top spots. 60's, 70's and 80' would then be great for the season after the next one.In other news. Dytut
Yeah it's fun to mix classes. This season has been quite interesting for seeing how the modern cars stack up to the Pug and S4. The events where power makes a big difference it was pretty hard to keep up in the Focus 07 (Greece and Germany), but on the more flowing events where it's more about keeping momentum it was possible to compete with the better suspension. Gr. A, Kit cars and R4 ought to be interesting. I suspect Gr. A will dominate it though. We'll see if @SimMoniti will make a choice, otherwise I will go for that setup as (probable) championship runner up.

After a good start on SS1, I immediately followed up with a half-flip (landed on the roof) and forced reset on SS2. Ugh...Fortunately, this was not indicative of the remainder of the stages as I managed to stay (mostly) on the road and kept it clean all the way to the finish.Having regretted my choice of car this season (the Impreza feels so sluggish), I'm looking forward to a change in the next one, hoping it will be another interesting mix of classes.Oh, and welcome to the league, @Janneman60, hope you'll enjoy your time here. Snaky115
After doing a 6m 44s on the 2nd stage with a puncture in the 2nd split, i ended up retiring to mood swings in 3rd stage, I am probably worse at Wales than i am at Sweden, luck especially. Hmm.
Dytut
I had my mind set on going out with a bang, beating Simmoniti. But alas, my plans were thwarted. Bad start on SS1, where I had a small spin that managed to cost me a lot of time, so 15 seconds down on that stage. Much better on SS2 where I gained back 5 seconds on the almighty Pug. Set off SS3 with the aim of taking the fight, but got bumped off track and straight into a reset in the first fast downhill left. I have no idea at all of how it happened. Had a good line and full control, suddenly the car just lifted like it hit something and flew away. Was rather bummed about this, so set off at a furious pace to try and gain back some of the time lost, but just managed to bump into a sidewall a few minutes later and got a reset from beaching the car and a puncture. End result; 50 seconds lost. Meeeeeeh. The rest of the stages went fine, hade one small spin that cost me 5-10 seconds, but overall kept pace with Simmoniti. So if that horrible SS3 hadn't happened I still would've lost, but just by a mere 15 seconds or so.
YoMrWhite
Wales was a wildly disappointing end to a wildly disappointing season. Somehow, the Citroen and me did never really click. Looking forward to a better performance next season. It certainly can't get much worse.

I personally love it and think it's one of the best cars in the game, but before I came to grips with it I could hardly go through a stage without crashing. I thought I like the Citroen, but found out I don't. Whatever the reason, I wasn't comfortable with it and had some problems to find its limit. At the end of the season, I was clearly overdriving it, leading to the two DNF's in a row.
Janneman60
This was the worst rally in a long time. Several crashes, doing half stages with a flat tire and so on. A real struggle but at the end there was the finish. After that I did the daily also with the Lancia S4. This time I crashed out on the straight... Just not my evening it seems. Dytut
Allright. I'm a bit rusty at setting up leagues, but I've set up another season of the DRC set to start in 6 hours. Hopefully I didn't muck it up :-)This season will be themed "Nationals"; old group A, some FWD kit cars and modern R4s. Let's get this show on the road! Snaky115
<3 Seat IbizaA calm event, other than pushes on Afternoon/Snow stages. somehow knowing i'd have a 30 second time loss on Stage 5 due to avoiding exaggerated understeer.
