It was a hard decision, but I went for the Focus 07 because I've hardly ever driven it and it was time to learn. Surprisingly enough it actually went quite OK. A bit of pinball here and there, a few messed up hairpins and one small spin in the second half, but I'm quite pleased by the result. Managed to beat @Snaky115 which I've pretty much never done in Monte, and managed to keep up with @SimMoniti's pug up until stage 3.

You beat me on Pra d'Alart even once out of the two chances. =O

I couldve competed far better, but like you, its a bit of (re)learning the Focus 01 for me, as my Subaru 2001 does have a 2 seconds better time on Pra d'Alart than i did in the league with the Focus 01, which just slightly surprises me. What a weird car.

edit: Doesn't help it was really weird to drive this thing on my weak side of Monte - stage 2 and 3.

Thanks to @Hatward  I got my team running again, so I finished Monte today.

My first plan was to chose my trusted '01 Subaru, but since there are already so many 2000's cars competing I thought I add a little diversity with chosing the Delta S4. A car that I have not driven much yet at all, so it's also a nice opportunity to find out how I can handle it.

Result, I even won two stages, but lost to much time on the two snow stages, Currently I'm 2nd, 0.6s behind Arete, very close last stage.

Had a hard time deciding which car to drive for this season and my first thought was to stay out of my comfort-zone, but ultimately decided on the 2001 Impreza (which I'm kinda familiar with).
Knowing that the car is quite predictable I pushed quite hard from the start and (except for a few missed braking-points) managed to get through SS1 and 2 without any incidents. On SS3, however, I had a few "pinball-moments" but to my surprise it didn't cost me that much.
Didn't have time for more that three stages tonight, unfortunately, I just hope I can keep up the flow tomorrow night.
Some really good performances from the rest of you guys, I haven't got a chance against those times (...but I'll keep trying).

To add some variety, I chose the Citroen for the season.

Monte Carlo was very disappointing. SS1 went okay, in SS2 I survived a roll with only minimal time loss, but in SS3 I picked up a puncture and had to repair it. From then on, I mostly cruised through the stages in order to finish and maybe pick up some points.

Remembered to do a result summary this time! Will try to do them after each if I'm able.

Simmoniti brings home the Monte win after a close fight with me (Arete) and SkyRex. I lost about 10 seconds on SS6 where I had a small spin, and SkyRex beached his S4 on SS4 which cost him about 20 seconds and 2nd place. Snaky115 snatched 4th place 3 seconds in front of Ferranis in 5th. That_guy and EinsZwei duked it out for 6th and 7th in the same car, with baunau trailing behind a bit in 8th. Daryl Willcox finishes at 9th after a costly puncture ending his hunt for the top positions.

Interesting choice of cars for this season. We can clearly see the Pug 205 and S4 being really fast, and it will be interesting to see how well the less powerful but more predictable WRC cars will stack up overall.

3 Stages into Sweden. Man, so thats how it is like to drive Focus01 in Sweden. :D 3rd stage was clean, even! The rest might not be, whenever i continue.

EDIT: Par the course - my Hamra runs are 6m 15s 381 and 6m 15s 300. I made completely different mistakes on each, but got the same time on both =D

After a really disappointing effort in Monte Carlo, I'm happy to say that the complete opposite was true for Sweden. Stages 1-3 were clean, although the low visibility on 2 and 3 had me ride the brakes more than I should (better safe than sorry). My concentration started slipping a bit on SS4 and my reward was a half-spin which sent my car halfway up a snow-bank.
Got back into the groove on stages 5-7 and they were all clean and (almost) flat-out.
I don't care which position I end up with at the end of this rally since I'm really pleased with my performance and had a great time driving the Impreza today. :)

Weeeeell... The Focus 07 is quite nice in Sweden. So nice that I managed a spin on every single stage I think. Most were OK, losing 5 seconds or so, but one on stage 4 started out as a silly spin due to leaning a bit to much on the snow bank, but a hidden rock in the bank must've caught in the car because all of a sudden I was turned upside down and had to reset.

I'm in the lead now by some weird twist of fate, but guess I'll end up about 3rd or 4th in the end.

I (Arete) took the win even with some big mistakes. Chalking it down to the focus 07 being well suited to sweden. Baunau kept pace for the 2nd half, but had lost too much time before that to threaten 1st place. Simmoniti and skyrex started off good, but both had some bad stages where theu lost a lot of time, and ended up in a close battle for 3rd position where Simmoniti managed to keep his lead of 6 seconds. Ferranis and Snaky115 kept battling for position over the whole event, where Ferranis won out by a mere 0.7 seconds in the end. Daryl Willcox looked like a contender for 3rd or 4th, but Hamra put a stop to his efforts. That_guy and nationalwheel events out the board.

Greece done. Never really found a setup I was comfortable with, and not quite the pace I wanted. Way too much sliding wide, which also threw me off the road three times :-/ Most irritating was at SS6, where I was just going through the last jump into left five and something (no idea what) nudged the car right just enough to throw me off track and straight into a reset 15 meters before the finish line :-P

Do we have any standing rule for this? Point or time penalty? I remember in the forum league the driver would get a penalty of 10 points. Should we use this? Losing the result completely would be a bit harsh in this case, as @Ferranis currently leads the event.

I honestly can't quite remember. @SkyRex? I think we've let people go with a stern warning if it's been long between the occasions, but I think I remember @baunau getting a penalty a while back. I'm all fine for letting it go this time, since I think some just join the league without checking the rules on the forums. That's why I added it on the league page :-)

Well, the classic Focus01 + Greece misfortune strikes - This car is already on average 5 seconds slower than my Subaru01, but come on, don't do the Escort RS-ish suspension failures on me now! :/ Retired due to a very exaggerated bump that literally sent me flying into retirement.

I think I gave a 10 point penalty the last time it happened. Think we should make that a standard.

Greece went horrible for me.... Well at least I won stage7 :)

Three - well, two and a half - quite decent stages, followed by a break (you have to eat sometimes, don't you?) and then three bad stages. Suddenly the car felt different and my rhythm was gone. Obviously, it's 'Don't eat and drive afterwards' for me... Another bleah performance.

Taking a break in the middle of a drive can be hazardous, when I'm in the zone for a league drive even going to the bathroom may make me lose my touch for the next stage. On the other hand, if it's going bad a break might be just the thing to get back to focus.

It was just one beer, I swear...

Anyway, made it through Greece yesterday, although not as pain-free as I had hoped. Think I managed to bump into something and lose precious seconds on every stage, with SS7 being the worst (went off a cliff and got reset, instantly followed by another near-reset). A bit disappointed (and quite frustrated) by the time the rally was done, but at least I made it to the end. On to the next one...

Simmoniti strikes again with the second win of the season, with Ferranis trailing just behind (who's team got drunk and stole a 205 instead of his S4, for which they were awarded a 10 point championship points deduction). I (Arete) tried to keep up but too many mistakes made it an impossible task. 3rd to 9th place were all quite close, just 45 seconds spread.

Will the mighty group B monsters be able to keep in front of the predictable WRC workhorses? We'll just have to see in Finland!

Finland was a mixed bag. Stage 1,3 and 5 were clean and decent, stage 2,4,6 were awful with spins. I should've gone with a more durable setup aswell. Thought it felt fine at shakedown, but by the halfway mark of SS1 the radiator was already going, and had to take real care not to wreck the engine on the latter half of the event (hissing started on SS3). Engine almost gave up on SS7, slowed down and just nursed it home.

Made it through at least :-)

Driving the Impreza in Finland was... annoying. Couldn't be bothered to spend time on fine-tuning the setup so I ended up with one that didn't stray too far from the default, i.e. felt like piloting a bouncy castle on wheels (...or at least how I'd imagine that would be like). The rebound after each jump and crest tossed me all over the place and I consider myself lucky to have finished at all.
On every stage I would either hit a tree (sideways or head-on) or do a barrel-roll, sometimes both. Lost my left-rear wheel about halfway through SS5, but managed to keep pushing and make it to the end of the stage without incident.
All in all, not my best performance, but certainly not my worst either.

Just finished Finland - and compared to my outing in Greece I have to be happy. Tried to drive smooth and consistent, and only had a couple of incidents. Didn't break any speed records but my goal was to get some points - here's hoping!

Simmoniti brings home another one! I (Arete) snatched second place again, not being able to keep up and making many mistakes on the way. Baunau followed me in the same pattern of bounces and slides. that_guy and EinsZwei had a real close fight for 4th, where that_guy come out on top by just 2.5 seconds. Daryl Willcox secured 6th by just a few seconds to pigloaf. kildog finishes off the board at 8th, the rest were claimed by the Finnish forests.

I gave up trying to keep up with @SkyRex's S4 after two stages, and focused on keeping up with @Snaky115. That's usually a tall order for me, but knew I had a slightly faster car. Kept up I did, and when @Snaky115 lost his focus on the penultimate stage my focus snuck past :-) Was a good fight!

I found that I completely skipped finland for some reason and therefor put in my germany run early. Went quite well overall, slight stopping contact with a bush on stage 3 and 7 but apart from that it went all quite well.

As Simmoniti seems to be on top this season, might I suggest a constellation for the next season which you can consider to maybe choose: What about a similar Open-Season but in a more National-Championship style, specifically with the following classes allowed: 60's 70's 80's, Group A, Kit-Cars and R4.
What would you think of that?

I like the combination of different classes, but I think anyone who chooses 60's, 70's or 80's will stand no chance here. I would suggest Group A, Kit cars and R4. That should make for a season with a lot of variety and nearly every car should be able to compete for the top spots. 60's, 70's and 80' would then be great for the season after the next one.

In other news. My Germany experience was short and ended very ugly.

Yeah it's fun to mix classes. This season has been quite interesting for seeing how the modern cars stack up to the Pug and S4. The events where power makes a big difference it was pretty hard to keep up in the Focus 07 (Greece and Germany), but on the more flowing events where it's more about keeping momentum it was possible to compete with the better suspension.

Gr. A, Kit cars and R4 ought to be interesting. I suspect Gr. A will dominate it though. We'll see if @SimMoniti will make a choice, otherwise I will go for that setup as (probable) championship runner up.

Still a theoretical chance for Simmoniti to miss out on the win by ending out of the points in Wales, since the difference is 24 points. Baunau has a good 10 point lead in front of SkyRex in the fight for third, but that_guy could get involved by winning Wales.

Wales done and quite happy with my performance. Had a couple of so-so shakedowns, then jumped in and pushed as hard as I dared. After a good start on SS1, I immediately followed up with a half-flip (landed on the roof) and forced reset on SS2. Ugh...
Fortunately, this was not indicative of the remainder of the stages as I managed to stay (mostly) on the road and kept it clean all the way to the finish.
Having regretted my choice of car this season (the Impreza feels so sluggish), I'm looking forward to a change in the next one, hoping it will be another interesting mix of classes.

Oh, and welcome to the league, @Janneman60, hope you'll enjoy your time here.

I had my mind set on going out with a bang, beating Simmoniti. But alas, my plans were thwarted. Bad start on SS1, where I had a small spin that managed to cost me a lot of time, so 15 seconds down on that stage. Much better on SS2 where I gained back 5 seconds on the almighty Pug. Set off SS3 with the aim of taking the fight, but got bumped off track and straight into a reset in the first fast downhill left. I have no idea at all of how it happened. Had a good line and full control, suddenly the car just lifted like it hit something and flew away. Was rather bummed about this, so set off at a furious pace to try and gain back some of the time lost, but just managed to bump into a sidewall a few minutes later and got a reset from beaching the car and a puncture. End result; 50 seconds lost. Meeeeeeh.
The rest of the stages went fine, hade one small spin that cost me 5-10 seconds, but overall kept pace with Simmoniti. So if that horrible SS3 hadn't happened I still would've lost, but just by a mere 15 seconds or so.

I thought I like the Citroen, but found out I don't. Whatever the reason, I wasn't comfortable with it and had some problems to find its limit. At the end of the season, I was clearly overdriving it, leading to the two DNF's in a row.

This was the worst rally in a long time. Several crashes, doing half stages with a flat tire and so on. A real struggle but at the end there was the finish.

After that I did the daily also with the Lancia S4. This time I crashed out on the straight... Just not my evening it seems.

Allright. I'm a bit rusty at setting up leagues, but I've set up another season of the DRC set to start in 6 hours. Hopefully I didn't muck it up :-)

This season will be themed "Nationals"; old group A, some FWD kit cars and modern R4s. Let's get this show on the road!
