By the way: CrazyNevada, choose the car class for the next DRC Season.
I think the 70's would be cool.
so it shall be.  But I will surely not drive that maniac stratos

For the next legendary I will propose  a different setup : Tuning will be allowed at every country-change. there will be two service-parks, one after 6 and one after 12 stages. And the country order will change, since it's tire-independant now, so we can get finland out of the 120km-part:
Germany-Finland1/2 - Service Park -Finland 2/2 - Monte Carlo - Service Park- Sweden - Wales - Greece (24 Stages total)
with owned cars, career engineers and totally free car choice
I honestly liked the current setup, but we could have a service park every two rallies, and have each leg be made up of different surfaces. That way the setup has to compromise for one or the other, or a balance between both.
Did the setup transfer to a new location for you?
Yep. Pretty sure the setup only changed when I got to service areas.

So lets start a little poll: How many of you felt like the setup was reset on location change and how many felt it stayed the same?
I honestly felt it stayed the same too.
So RESET: 1 vote
STAYED: 2 votes
If most of you vote for stayed I will only include tuning areas in the legendary when the tyre choice changes.

My idea, once again, is for us to make one setup for two tire changes, so as to either choose to strike a balance or favor one or the other. Adds a bit more strategy.

(i.e. With Sweden and Germany in one leg, you choose either a setup for Sweden, a setup for Germany, or a balanced one for both).

My trusty old Delta Integrale carried me through this!

Though it was slow as hell, and I think the worse suspension than the 2000 class made it take more damage than I thought it would. Also found that driving with much less attack was harder than I thought it would be. I smashed my car quite a few times due to going different lines than I'm used to, and a few times even because lack of concentration due to going so slow.

Had some real bad luck moments a few times. For example, on monte I touched a parked car in the beginning of a stage and of course I got a puntcure. Figured it wasn't worth it to damage the car so I changed the tire right away. And 20 seconds later I just slighly touched a side with the back, and got ANOTHER puncture. So ran that stage as carfully as I could just to keep the tire on as long as possible. Did sacrifice a penalty minute of time just to get some extra repairs after monte/germany due to that.

In the end stages I had lost my turbo pressure completely, so hardly had any power at all. Suspension was also quite beaten so it was real hard to control. On the final stage I couldn't really go over 3rd gear 'cause then I was slowing down instead.

So, the next Season is configured (DRC Season 2 , and the next legendary)

You can check it on dirtgame.com

Cheers

EDIT: Unless somebody comes up with a better name, i called the legendary event: DiRT Legendary Trophy
Anybody graphically talented here ? If so would you have fun creating a 'Survivor' Badge for the DLT ? Maybe showing all the different surfaces in one picture or something like that.

I had a quick go at one, something like this?

Yes, exactly ! I like it. You could just remove the "Season 01" . The legendary will always be the same, so no need to recall the number.

And maybe remove the username too, and write "survivor" instead. This way it would not need updating for every participant, and I would just post it in the OP and allow everybody who survived the legendary to wear it in their signature?

Sounds good to me, that way I even get to wear it! Better?

In hindsight, it's quite large. I might try a smaller version to fit into signatures without being so distracting.
Yes very nice. It's a shame I can't wear it yet  :D

Good idea with a smaller version. Once you finished it I will update into the OP. Thanks for the effort :)

Edited it into my previous post. Glad to be of use!

The exclusivity makes it all the sweeter to finish, so more to look forward to for next time! ;) At least you can console yourself with a decent amount of points in the actual league, unlike me :D

According to my plan, I accepted the two and a half minutes penalty to repair as much as possible. Tried to be careful in Finland, but one single big crash with a puncture cost me a lot of time and the car looked done. The first three welsh stages went okay and I already thought about my big attack in Greece. Naturally, I crashed right at the beginning of the last welsh stage, got another puncture and decided to call it quits. So, no badge for me. Next time...

Ran over a spectator on stage 4 and crashed my car twice, so I had a damaged radiator for stage 4-6. But apart from that it went quite smooth :) Let's see for how many points this time is good for :)

EDIT: does anybody know why headquake got banned from the forums?

Maybe ranting or cheating?  :o I've no idea. He is fast through.
That would be game and not forum related? Or is that tied together?
I don't think it was cheating, as his times seem prety legit to me and still a bit away from Porkys or CrazyNevadas level.
But I haven't seen him rant or swear either around here...
Strange things goin on

I'd like to point out, that it's not the time that matters, but how it was achieved. Cheater is still a human, stupid human, but human nevertheless. So there's a chance that they could use the cheats to simply be able to beat Master level without showing up as a cheating time. In any case, I don't think a forum ban after less than 20 posts was due to forum activity.

Now, normally RWD and I don't get on very well. Today however, somehow went smoothly and despite a few spins (including two in the exact same place, in both runs of Pra D'Alart) I'm currently 3rd. What's more, I had an absolute blast driving the Kadett. Can't remember the last time I drove it, but boy is it a lot of fun.

Obviously, my position won't last, but if I score points it's a victory for me ;) Either way, bring on more 70s action, seems I've been missing out on it!

Thats me done!

No getting near Headquake and SkyRex on the dry early stages, but when the going got tough in the wet/icy conditions, I was able to reel them both in!  The very last stage was dry again, so no way of catching up!  :)

Happy with my rally, much <3 for the Mk2! B)

I'm a RL friend of Headquakes. He has no idea why he's been banned from the forum, he tried to login this morning and found out he got banned for some unknown reason. He also has no idea who to ask or what to do to get unbanned. Anyway just letting you guys in his league know somethings wrong somewhere.

Trying to relearn the 70s cars with this one and the dirty forumers league. The Kadett was so much easier to drive than the Stratos, so went decently well.
Except for the spins... oh so many spins. And only on the safe and fast corners, where I usually don't have any problems. And each time spinning around so I was pointing backwards and had to do the bumper cars manouver to get back in the right direction, so at least 10-15 seconds lost each time.

Oh well, will try to do better in Sweden.

I was running in 4th, and then I went off the side and automatically retired in SS4 :(
Clipped the rock wall on the inside of a corner, which sent my car on a slight bounce, enough for the momentum to take me over a very low wall.

Massively disappointed with such a bs way to go out, because I was going pretty fast and feeling good.

Very happy with my performance in the Fiat. I surprised myself, I have to say. Unfortunately, in the last stage, I had a spin and it took an eternity to get moving again (and in the right direction). I lost one place and at least 10 seconds there. Apart from that, a good start to the season.

That could have gone better... I could have actually finished a stage. :D

Clipped a snow bank just after the first hairpin and ended up sliding a good 500 metres or so with the car on its side and coming to a rest still on the side. Had to take a recovery penalty to get upright and going again so thought you know what, I'll just go full-on for the rest of the stage and perhaps make up some time - nothing to lose at this point. A large number of spins and rolls later and that car was in no state to continue. Result: retired before the end of stage 1. Better luck everyone else!

Massively disappointing rally.

Until I can afford the time to practice the Swedish stages a lot more, I'll continue to heavily dislike driving the stages, especially in RWD cars.
There are quite a lot of occasions where I'm in the zone, and have the feel of the stage, but then it all goes wrong and I have a spin, which then destroys my rhythm and I never can recover.

I just don't understand how people can drive so fast on these stages. I have 0 confidence, and my setups have so far all been a hindrance.

Bring on the next rally, ffs.

After my breakthrough performance in Monte Carlo (ahem), I was all set for a weak outing in Sweden.

To my pleasant surprise, Sweden was even better, considering it's usually my worst rally. For the first time I found a balance between safety and speed that worked. Only one spin and one overshoot for the whole event. Normally I have that per stage.

I'm sure I won't stay on the podium, but it was a great ride. And I have to give credit to the Fiat. It's not as slow as many think and acts more predictable than the Escort in my opinion.

@thecraicbear i feel you, i'm starting to get the hang now, i was just like you though.  I came to realise, and i still don't get it right now, that i wasn't using the brakes enough, just generally to slow down, you've probably realised it needs more precision than speed, that seems to come after precision.

Yeah absolutely, I'm really not used to using the brakes so much, but it's something I've started to notice myself.
I'll have to address other setup issues too, such as the diff, because sometimes I lose the rear end inexplicably in this rally.

Yeah, as i've continued to begrudgingly race there, i think it's the snow effect, it makes me think i don't need to slow as much, or that i think i already have done.

Setups aside, RWD can be *nasty* there!  the grip level between the icy gravel and the softer snow is *very* different, worth trying to keep an eye on it, if only because the slides, particularly in RWD, are very different in the way you have to set the cars attitude.

It was the front of the wee Mk2 that I couldn't get to behave.  That, & a 30second setup that I thought I'd be able to tweak, but no, stuck with it :(
I was understeering quite a bit with the Mk2 at times. On other occasions I'd be belting down a straight, and all of a sudden my car would turn into a snake!

@SkyRex :    i save after 3 S.S  but when i do the other 4 stages  setup was default.....   needs to be fixed imo ;)
That's to prevent people from hotlapping. I mean saving at service park, hotlap the track + weather in custom event, and join de league again. Same thing happens if you quit during a stage. The car resets to default setup.
ahh, i see

it's bad being forced to do al 7 (long stages) at once :(

Well, Greece is probably one of my strongest events, and it started out okay, feeling comfortable with the car...

I went into stage 3, and I was going about my normal business, until my car spun out randomly like I had just hit an auto-spin curb from one of the old F1 games; infuriating! Not only that, I got put down the hill a bit, and I almost made it back onto the road, and then the game's stupid reset function kicked in, which had me losing even more time.

The rest of the stage was horrid, filled with many sloppy mistakes due to my rhythm being shattered through anger at how stupid that moment was.

Any hope of a podium has already gone unless the front runners make mistakes as well.
I'll do stage 4 when I'm less angry.

More than my fair share of mistakes in the last two stages - in particular the last long stage was a complete shambles. Nevertheless, the earlier stages went fairly well, and I had so much fun driving I really don't mind whatever place I end up in!

Enjoying this format so much B)

Unintentionally retired from this one, however whilst i like the long stages, the super tough enforced service areas, per real life, don't work in a game setup to have them every two.

It's interesting as an experiment, but when every time is the same, it's a whole heap of F%$k it and retire :(

I finished up in 4th.

After a grim and dismal start, I eventually clawed back a decent chunk of the time that I lost in Stage 3, and closed in on Cerique quite quickly, but not quick enough; finished 11 seconds off podium.

I ended up enjoying the event, but I was still a lot slower than the top 2 placed drivers. My lack of confidence in hairpins with the RWD cars loses me a lot per stage.

Started out too cautious and finished a little too optimistic. In between there were a few mistakes, mostly those nasty spins in tight places, and some good stages. My gearing felt a little too short, but it might have helped to compensate for the Fiat's lack of power, especially in the uphill passages.

It was great fun to fight for third place, regularly swapping positions with Ivy, Mr. Jolly, Cerique and Bear. See you in Finland!

Just finished the Greece event in 8th. First stage went completly crazy. I did three rolls in stratos and somehow kept on going without puncture or reset. That was my first league event so far. Don't know how you do it, guys, i lost five minutes somewhere :)

8th place and 5 minutes back in the Stratos is actually not bad, as it's surely the most difficult car to drive in the 70's class.

Welcome to the league!

Well, i just got used to stratos and now enjoying the way it handles. Nevertheless, thanks.
P.S. but it bites quite hard on a bumpy road.
