cerique
Several lapses of concentration and one misheard pacenote later, my experience in Finland can be summed up by the following:Driving Finland with four wheels: great fun, flowing as well as ever, setting PBsDriving Finland with two punctures: significantly less fun
thecraicbear
Just finished Stage 3 of Finland, and it was terrible. Had a good, flowing run going in the first 2 stages, up until the moments on the 3rd...First incident: Lost concentration and slid too wide into a bank, causing a rear-right puncture. Had to stop and change the tyre because it was about half way through the stage, and would have lost too much time if I kept going. Second incident: That big right over jump near the end; I went too wide over the jump, and locked the brakes, straight into the big pile of logs. Damaged the radiator, etc. severely. I'm hoping I can fix the car enough in service. First time running with headcam for a while as well, so naturally slower than usual, especially when I'm using 900 steering. It gives the best feeling though, for me anyway.Using the Mk2 in Finland with my current setup is probably the best I've ever felt driving any car in this game. thecraicbear
Well, I had to retire on the penultimate stage, which is irritating and made the event a waste of time for me. Couldn't recover from the damage I sustained in Stage 3, so general wear and tear mixed with an off meant that I had to retire. Gearbox was ruined, and so was the engine. I thought i'm dead for sure, but the damage wasn't so bad after all.

Meh, despite not being able to score points, I still loved the drive barring the incidents. The Mk2 just feels excellent in Finland.
helther
Finland wasn't so kind for me this time. Barely finished stage 6 without two tires, exhaust and headlights. But it could be worse, i guess. :)
KevM
Cancelled out. Apparently, I had a rear left puncture at the time.... I find it really hard to keep my attention in the 70's cars on long stage after long stage... They drag on a bit in the Escort
YoMrWhite
Obviously, I am no setup wizard. SS 1 + SS 2 in the wet were slow but quite steady, but SS 3 in dry conditions was a disaster. Lost over two minutes and the car behaved... Well, not well. Made some repairs, survived SS 4, but two punctures in in SS 5, combined with a leaking radiator, were the death spell for the poor Fiat. How soft do you set up your cars for Finland? I really don't know in which direction I erred, but obviously I did.
FloatingGrass
Binned it on the first stage :(Jump, into crest, into right 5 over bridge. Thought I'd get the Kadett sideways in time for the bridge but I didnt.
YoMrWhite
Germany was great. A little too careful sometimes, but nearly without major mistakes. Had a nice fight with Arete, losing my position to him after a mighty overshoot and a highspeed spin in SS5. Went absolutely flatout in the last stage and slipped ahead again. Woohoo! FloatingGrass
I was doing wellish, ahead of Audi by an okay 8 seconds, until I pushed too hard to catch MadMaxx and dropped over 10 seconds to Audi. Then, I had a jump start and a puncture and ragequit. Dissappointinng.
KevM
Germany went ok-ish. Made mistakes and spun on 2,3 & 4. Realised that it was better to be accurate as flat out, so tidied up and got back to 4th. Should have had 3rd :p
SkyRex
Very satisfied with my run. Seems to become a home-victory if nothing surprisingly happens :) But a significant question comes up: I am the only one left being able to catch Headquake, but that seems unlikely in wales. Which leads to the fact that Headquake is still banned in the forum and therefor he can't choose the next car class. Would everybody be fine if I choose it in that case or does anybody have personal contact to Headquake? On that topic generally: I would like to introduce a rule to stop single individuals 'guiding' the league only on their own interests. Therefor I would suggest the following: Everybody is always able to compete and claim victory and the champion-badge, but you aren't allowed to choose the next car class two times in a row. So if you are the champion, but you already chose the car class last time, then the next one in the row (2nd,3rd) will choose the next car class. That would prevent people who are particuarly good in certain car classes from forcing the league to only consist of those. Would y'all be fine with that additional rule ?Cheers

cerique
Yeah, sounds good. If it were up to me, I wouldn't mind a rule of not repeating any class until they've all been done, so we get a season with every class. I completely understand that some classes are much less... enjoyable than others though, which varies from person to person, so maybe it isn't such a good idea to everyone. Just putting it out there. KevM
The long stages seemed even longer in the easy-going 70's. The drone of the Mk2 made my ears hurt
thecraicbear
I had what felt like 2 good and tidy stages to start off the rally, but I was pretty damn slow and was placed in about 10th. Gonna have to start ragging the Mk2 a bit more. I tried to do the whole event last night, but racenet went down after those 2 stages.
thecraicbear
Well, I just missed out on finishing the German event because the timer ran out, so I went straight onto Wales, and I've retired already, on the 4th stage. My setup felt weird after being okay in shakedown, and it resulted in two reset to tracks, and a puncture repair penalty. I then crashed head on into a post (nothing that bad), and then retired just because it was gonna be a huge waste of time to carry on.

Hello again, i'm a personal friend of Headquake, he asked me if i could pass this on to you. :) "Glad to be doing so well in the 70's season, its mostly because 70's is my favourite class and i have way more practice with it than other classes. I like the idea of Skyrex randomly picking classes for the seasons till they're all done, though if you want my pick, i'd go GroupA. I think my times would be more even with others. Surprised CrazyNevada picked the 70's class for the last one but never competed.Still not sure why i got banned from the forum, I think it may be IP address related. I've tried a couple emails but got no response yet. If anyone knows a better contact to forum mods, please let me know. I'd like to take part again."Headquake. cerique
Wales went OK. Seems like both Headquake and vajb had a pretty bad time on the last long stage, as I made up a big chunk of time. Final stage was going well until I clipped something and went face-first into a tree on the inside of the last corner in the last group of trees. Finished a couple of secs behind vajb.I'm sure since getting through the crazy-endurance-survival-trophy at the end of last season I've been driving so much better. Consistency over speed seems to be working out quite well - I've certainly got many more points than last season! Just got to keep the consistency consistent. :D

F2CMaDMaXX
Despite wanting to have some more realism and keep 720 rotation to give me varied car locks with softlock, I realized I need the consistency so went back to 540.The linearity setting allowed me to do this, as I'd switched to 720 in order to smooth out straights at high speed. F2CMaDMaXX
I can't manage the older cars at 900, too small of a wheel, 720 was ok but quite the difference from old to new cars.Like I said, went to 720 to help particularly with newer, lower rotation cars, but too twitchy down the high speed straights. Anyway, the linearity adjustment basically 'fixes' that issue and using 540 means pretty much all cars have essentially the same rotation now which means I can get used to driving many cars physically instead of re training myself every time. F2CMaDMaXX
Softlock works well :) gotta make sure it's on ;) and it's force setting it turned up though.Hmm, bonnet cam, setting correct FOV really helps with that, but having done so, and moving the seat forward, I'm not bad in helmet cam these days. Dytut
900+ and soft lock here aswell. Been running that since I got my T300 about 7 months ago. Older cars are a handful, but I feel it forces me to drive more period accurate in return. Only problem I have with it so far is that the gear shift paddles move with the wheel, and with the older cars I sometimes shift down instead of up if I don't keep track of which way the wheel is pointing. Looking at getting an H-shifter and pedals sometime in the future to fix this.
Boa74
Retired because of a silly bug: car was stuck off the road and I cannot go back to the road or get the penalty. After half a minute in the ditch I decided to leave the race. Maybe the whole game.Sorry but sometimes it's ridicolous. In Finland I touched a sign and got a full damage with 41g deceleration... from a 3" pipe.
