Dirt Rally does not run Fullscreen

Recommended Posts

Tried to change settings, tried alt-enter but none of it worked. I can get the game to run on windowed only.

System Specs

Laptop
CPU: i7 4700hq Quad Core
GPU:Nvidia GTX 850M (latest drivers available)
RAM: 16 GB
1.5 TB HDD
Windows 8.1 Home
Full HD screen

Steps to reproduce

Launch the game normally through steam

Your recent history of races

None. Just finished downloading the game and the issue persisted since the first time I ran dirt rally.

Which graphics preset were you using?

1920x1080 resolution, graphics preset low.

if you left click the app in the taskbar to minimise it, then press it again to maximise it, then press alt+enter - should go full screen then.  Thats what works for me.

I had similar problems with my 860M and Windows 8. They disappeared with win10. Try to change the ingame option Fullscreen Yes/No a couple of times with different resolutions. It worked for some people.
I have other funny issue that I've managed to solve. When I use a monitor, a 2nd screen, it only worked at 30fps, But if I change resolution to 720p 50fps and the change again to 1080p 59fps (60) it runs perfectly.

Was it not clear when I wrote "Tried to change settings, tried alt-enter but none of it worked"?

Another forum user commented the same thing on my other post.

Yes, I experienced the same thing interestingly. Sometimes the game will run 30-40 fps on 720p low but sometimes 60 fps on 1080p medium (all on windowed of course since I can't get fullscreen to work).

For Windows 10, thanks for the info I might try it if I can't find a solution on Windows 8.
