Any particular reason the hard compound tyre has been so uncompetitive this season ?

I’m not an expert, and can’t say I have any data to verify my observations, but from what I’ve seen all season it seems like the hard compound type has been nearly useless all season.

There have been quite a few races where opting for the hard compound lost the driver their ability to fight for position, and frankly I can’t recall the last time redbull has opted for a hard tyre strategy all season and their strategy has been pretty much on point

Edit* I get that the compounds are selected for each race, making it hard to make a general statement. But compared to previous seasons where the hard compound option was often times the goto, the difference seems staggering
