List of best-working wheel/pedal combos for Dirt Rally...

Recommended Posts

New to the site, and considering buying 'Dirt Rally'... I used to play GPL back in the day. But honestly, it's a PITA to setup, and then take down, the wheel/pedals... undecided at this point whether I'll get the game.

Is there an official list from codemasters as to which wheel/pedals works the best with DR for the PC?

Thanks...

Pretty much all the common wheels are working.
Logitech, Fanatec, Thrustmaster, you name it.

Most of them work with it honestly. All the common models for sure.
What works 'best' therefor mainly depends on the quality of the wheel/pedals itself.

And that is a matter of money. Which depends on your wallet and your seriousness/casualty with the matter of sim racing.

A typical entry wheel would be the logitech driving force gt (had one myself some time back) (70€ used/120 new)

My current setup (which I can recommend):
T300RS Wheel
T3PA Pedals
TH8A Shifter
And a sim racing seat from switzerland
(Wheel + pedals + shifter = 550-580€ alone)

You can also go super-serious with a hydraulic moving seat setup and super quality  wheels and pedals from Fanatec, but then your looking at 4 digit numbers in price for everything combined.

And AFAIK it all works flawlessly with DiRT Rally

Cheers

If the wheel setup and tear down is the problem, just know that the game is great with a gamepad, right out of the box.

Maybe so, but it's nothing compared to using a good wheel/pedal setup!  :)

I use the Fanatec wheel stand, it's easy to pick up and move with your gear attached and very sturdy.  But like others have said pretty much any mainstream wheel/pedal setup will work.  I use Clubsport wheel and pedals, but that's pretty expensive combo.  I'd say look for a nice used G27 setup and wheel stand, or a DFGT with Clubsport pedals or something like that.  Heard the new Thrustmasters are really nice also.

I use a Logitech G29 which works great. Mine is bolted on as have a dedicated rig but the clamping system is pretty good for swapping in an out.

I was a massive GPL fan for many years, now a massive DiRT Rally fan. I would highly recommend it.
