Dirt Rally : xBox One controller Force feedback sticking on ON

My xBox One controller seems to have a mind of it's own regarding Force feedback. It'll be fine for a while and then some bump will set it off and it'll get stuck on on for a good  minute or so. Even restarting the stage doesn't turn it off. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? It's an xBox One Elite controller on a Windows 7 machine (so I don't get all the fancy reconfiguration options that come with W10).
