How are the car physics in Dirt rally?

There is no Virtual 'other' forces though.  Its all suspension/steering rack forces which would be transmitted through the wheel

Tyre slip is vibration effect that is better on off (by the description it has effects from back wheels) or very low. Tyre friction on the other hand feels better when its higher than you have.
I'm not home until Tuesday so can't post my settings until then.

Oh, they aren't my settings, I just linked an image to show the effects are all suspension/rack related

Mine are quite different

FFB with information just coming from the steering rack would be kinda useless in our "games" wouldn't it? We still need to feel weight transfer through our wheels, as very few of us have motion rigs.
But you do feel it through steering...
I'm sorry sir, are you saying you feel weight shifting through your wheel in your IRL car? Please explain further. I'm curious.
I sure do. Then again my car has body roll almost as bad as an old Cadillac.

So seeing as no one can point to me what settings needs to be changed in SLRE to remove the hovercraft floaty feeling, I get the impression that is just the way the game is and oddly some people like the floaty disconnected feel of the cars.

I REALLY wish I could return this digital game, I wish the USA got the demo to try I would have not bought it. The game is complete crap and I don't understand how anyone that has played more than two racing games in their life can play SLRE and like the car handling.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to say what could make it better for you. When I tested PC demo it was "okay" out of the box after I got wheel settings fine tuned.
Demo included one stage of Monte with some snow, ice and tarmac and it wasn't feeling overly floating there, it's kind of how Monte should work because tires aren't optimal for all of those surfaces. Of course I can't judge whole game just by that and I am not sure if I wan't to buy it because their multiple devices support was awful and I know have different device for pedals and wheels.

I have been playing it for a few days.  Its a lost cause.  It might be salvageable if the RBR Modders get their hands on it and polish the turd, but currently, its as advanced as a game that runs on an iPad.

Well been playing xbox version of Dirt Rally and the physics and car handling are awesome, Cars have real weight to them, the cars feel connected to the road, when I screw up it is because of me and not hovercraft physics. Really great and so much better than Loeb Evo, that game is complete crap as far as car handling goes.

Yes, well, there's also the roadside curbs and those damn bushes.
