Dirt Rally"Xbox One" Force Feedback settings with Thrustmaster TX (v.50)

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm Andrea from Italy! Yesterday I bought Dirt Rally for My Xbox One and it is really amazing!

I’m here writing to you because I had some problems with the defaults ffb settings for my Thrustmaster TX; in particular out of the box with all settings at 100 the wheel  feels to heavy and strong and I had to decrease most of them to 40% in order to play the game without breaking the Wheel Base.

However after some tests now I found a good compromise and yesterday evening I had a lot of fun with my wheel but I still have the sensation that I’m not having the best feedback possible from this game, so my question is: “Do you have any ffb settings suggestion for my v.50 TX and Xbox One?”

No one better of you in the world can give me an answer!  :D

Thank you very much previously

I Calibrated the wheel so full lock was 3 O'clock  (in other words when it asked me to rotate my wheel to full lock i just moved it to the 3 O'clock position and pressed A) and 90* was 2 o'clock (the same as before but i turned the wheel so the center of the wheel was at 2 O'clock and pressed A).

Thrustmaster tips about the FFB, i followed these tips step by step and it works perfectly, very good FFB settings !!!!!!!

DiRT RALLY on PlayStation 4 & Xbox One TIPS:
Force Feedback settings Thrustmaster Wheels.
About the Rotation Angle, in OPTIONS / CONTROLS / ADVANCED WHEEL SETTINGS
To optimize the gameplay, we recommend you to:
Step 1) Access to CALIBRATE DEVICE and calibrate the steering wheel:
# 1080° for T150, T300 & T500 wheels
# 900° for TX Wheels
Step 2) Activate SOFT LOCK option.
Once the process is completed, the wheel Lock will be automatically adjusted to your cars.
Remark: To match the same ratio as the cockpit view go to OPTIONS / PREFENCES / COCKPIT DRIVER & WHEEL then select WHEEL ONLY
About the Force Feedback, go to OPTIONS / CONTROLS / VIBRATION & FEEDBACK
To optimize the general feeling, you can try these settings:
# VIBRATION & FEEDBACK = On
# SELF ALIGNING TORQUE = 125 % for T150 - 95 % for T500 % - 125 % for T300 % - 77 % for TX
• Self Aligning Torque is one of the most important setting
• You can reduce this setting (not too much to keep related effects) for recent cars with small rotation angle or for dirt tracks
• You can increase this setting (not too much to avoid wheel clipping) for old cars with big rotation angle or for ice tracks or snow tracks
# WHEEL FRICTION = 0% for T150 & T500 - 15 % for T300 & TX (keeping low the Wheel Friction setting is important to avoid not natural friction on the wheel)
# TYRE FRICTION = 100% for T150 – 90% for T500 - 150 % for T300 & TX
# SUSPENSION = 100% for T150 – 90% for T500 - 150 % for T300 & TX
# TYRE SLIP = 100% for T150 – 90% for T500 - 150 % for T300 & TX
# ENGINE = 100% for T150 – 90% for T500 - 150 % for T300 & TX
# COLLISION = 125% for T150 – 100% for T500 - 150 % for T300 & TX
# SOFT LOCK = 150 % for all wheels
# STEERING CENTER FORCE = 100 % for all wheels

For PC and T300RS (setting should probably be close) I use 80/0/75/40/whatever. Most important thing is that you lower self aligning down from 100 and put 0 for wheel friction.

edit: http://imgur.com/a/fOSNz (calibrate to full lock and then use saturation to change steering degrees with soft lock = off)

Yes, I forgot the name at first and then edited the pics in.
To add, I haven't gotten the tarmac to feel natural no matter the settings so I usually just drive gravel. With other settings tarmac could be better but I have optimized for gravel.

Very strange, for me they're perfect, much more feeling what the car is doing and not as heavy as standard ffb settings.

Try these settings again, but for TYRE FRICTION, SUSPENSION, TYRE SLIP, ENGINE, COLLISION, SOFT LOCK set everything to around 100%-90%. Also what helped me yesterday was to change the actual DOR (Degrees of rotation) on the actual wheel - here is the link to the Manual PDF -  http://ts.thrustmaster.com/faqs/eng/thr_eng_00151.pdf
I set mine at 540, as I read somewhere on this forum it was suggested angle. You can try different ones and see how it feels.

And hands down to the Codemasters, the best rally game I've ever played, and I played them all (I think). Really needed something like this, as for many recent years we had no proper rally game. Thanks Codies! I was sweating yesterday on every rally stage, especially Sweden, damn those stages are tiny and needs a lot of work, but it's fun and challenging :)

Of  course if you find and improvements let me know, i've not tested it yet but i'm quite sure that it's not the definitive solutions. Yesterday i tried something very similar and it was still too heavy.

Well you could also lower SELF ALIGNING TORQUE. Codies say 77% for TX, but I had mine at 65% for ice and tarmac, and around 55% for gravel, snow and bumpy surfaces. Changing the DOR does change the feel of the wheel, because it changes when the FFB kicks in as well as the weight of the wheel.

Do you change the dor to 540 using the combinations of buttons on the TX base? And what about in-game calibrations? I'll definitely have to try!!

Yes I change DOR to 540 using buttons on the TX base,  I haven't tried any other DOR setting yet, but I will try tonight on 180, 360 and 900, see what it feels like. For the in-game calibrations I've done as instructed by Codies. Please note, that when it firsts asks you to turn your wheel fully to the right or left, make sure you turn as far as you can until your reach 100, because it turns easily to about 96, and then you need to further turn it to 100. Then  after that turn the wheel to 900 degrees = 90. People used to calibrate the wheel wrong on Pcars and were getting bad FFB or really strong wheel. Calibration is very important. Good luck :)

Also guys, don't forget FFB feeling is quite an individual feeling. Some people may like heavy wheel and some like light wheel. Just because FFB feels heavy it does not mean it's wrong. SELF ALIGNING TORQUE is like a volume knob for the strength, play around with that to adjust how heavy your you want you FFB.
