DiRT Rally v1.1 - found a bug? Post it here!

Recommended Posts

I've encountered rather annoying issue where the game suddenly refuses to save my events or my custom seat adjustments. I have old custom event haunting me. Every time I launch new custom event, it asks me to resume the old one. I discard it and make new custom event and if I save that and exit the game, next time it's yet again the old event and my seat positions are reset to default. This behavior started out of the blue, and I've done steam cache verification and even tried creating a new save, but the issue reappears after a while.

Sounds like your online events will be messed up as well.  You'll need to delete the contents of your DR folder and validate the cache again.

Alternatively, you can go and find the files you added to the install with mods and remove them.

I don't have any mods installed. And I've done steam cache verification like I said to make sure every file is intact. It's weird it worked a while once I created new save and then started occurring again.

I've had the same problem today for the first time (after 200 hours of playing)... Did a custom race, changed some car settings and at restart I've found that nothing was saved. Now I'm trying with the cache verification (34.5GB to download)... Cross fingers!

Also I might add the game lets me to sign into racenet at start. So it's not some file integrity/mismatch issue.

Cache validation is not the same as deleting the dirt rally folder contents and running cache validation.

Wut? It's exactly that. It resets your installation to 'factory settings'. Any file that is missing or modified will be downloaded and replaced with the original. If you delete everything it just has to download every file again which is pointless and the exact reason why the cache verification exists.

Right and those files aren't even read by the game. If any of the files the game needs are missing or modified, they are restored. You can drop the entire season of Breaking Bad into DR folder and it does not have any effect on the game.

Anyway NO MODS in my installation so this is pointless.

Not true.

I'm not kidding here, there are some folders that are checked for online play and that's tied to the saving of car progress, some settings and championships etc.

If it doesn't apply to you, that's fine, but this information is relevant and useful.

Is Racenet down? XB1?

Hey @MarioVilas, that looks like a GPU problem to me, not a software problem. Check your temperatures, although honestly that GPU is pretty old now, you'd definitely benefit from a new one.

Hello @BadD0g, i know my system is old, but the game runs well in Windows 7. The problema appear only in Windows 10. The other games run like a charm. There are other people with the same problem than mine with better computers. I'm in touch with AMD since the release of Windows 10 and the problems still remais the same. Thanks for your time trying to help :)

Ah, so it's just a Win10 problem then. Strange, it does look like the sort of thing that would happen when a GPU is going bad.
Getting a new card may be the only way to sort it out if drivers don't fix it, although if others are having the same issue it might be the game not cooperating with DirectX 12 or something.

This may not make any difference, but you can force the game to run in DX10 mode in the config files to see if it changes anything. Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\DiRT Rally\system and make a backup of hardware_settings_config.xml. Open the original and search for the line " <directx forcedx10="false" />" and change that to true. This will likely cause an Error 41 crash on startup, but it's worth a go.

Hoping for an update on the RaceNet issues on Xbox... 3+ days now limping through the online events. my leagues are almost impossible to complete. Based in Germany, if that helps narrow down the issue.

There are 2 bugs with disabling the HUD completely :

1) In normal rally stage events you still see the big countdown numbers.  They are not needed at all since we still hear the countdown voice and we see the lights on the side of the track.
fix : remove the numbers for normal rally stages when the HUD is off.

2) In rallycross however, the lights are not in viewing distance (cockpit view), you don't hear the voice and you don't have the countdown numbers.  So you have no clue when you can start.
fix : add the countdown voice to rallycross.

(by the way, this is on Xbox One if it matters)

To preface my post, the PC racenet is fine for me, and that's all in working order. However, when I play the game on PS4 my times aren't being posted on the leaderboards. I can download the leaderboards, but nothing seems to be uploading.

Issues on PT-BR pacenotes.
Monaco:
Col de Turini "Route de Turini Descente" is absolutely wrong. Not even out of sync, just flat out wrong. The HUD Co-pilot is right, though.
Valleé descente starts fine but then, right before the first hairpin to the left (1st sector), when the co-pilot repeats the hairpin note, it gets absolutely late. Like 2 corners late. And changing the time of the delivery does nothing.

There's another stage in Rally GB (the final half of Sweet Lamb, the last sector is composed by the water-splashes/bridge combo) that I can't recall the precise name that is 2 o 3 corners late on the delivery.

Hope you guys patch it up. It's tough losing like 30 seconds and trying to pick it up, specially on the higher difficulties.
