After a day with the game (PC)

So, back on the FOV thing, if you have anything smaller than a 27" you shouldn't worry too much about realistic FOV, just go with whats comfortable. I bought 3 cheap monitors so I can do a triple setup, and with the correct FOV on them it's fantastic. Even though DR doesn't have real triple support.

Also I've determined my most hated course overall. And that would be Wales. It reminds me of Dirt 3, in that the edge of the track makes me feel like I'm playing star fox 64 all over again. "What, you've stuck 1 inch of tire off the edge? Do a barrel roll!" I absolutely hate this place. So much so that I wish I'd bought the game on disc so I could throw it across the room o.o Doesn't help that 90% of the place is a slalom of "6" turns that always have one randomly sharper than the others (Though still apparently a 6), with of course a hill to send you flying into the sky.
That's pretty much describes the real Welsh stages :P most of them, anyway.
After making annual visits to both the WRC events and national Welsh stages, most sections around the dedicated spectator areas are all slalom style, cambered sections of road, either downhill or uphill, and will break the trend by going into a tighter corner of sorts.

However, the ridged edges of the road in DR have been an annoyance starting from early access, especially with how the cars tend to behave when launched into the air.
It doesn't bother me now, because I'm so used to the Welsh stages that I keep it on the road 90% of the time through muscle memory, but I can understand how frustrating it is for people with fewer hours played.
Its just when the guy says left 6, right 6, left 6, right 6 left 6 and the last left is 3 times sharper than all the others that makes me angry lol. I cuss my co-driver out every time he gives me some BS number that's clearly wrong.

If it weren't for the launcher edges, I actually probably wouldn't mind the course all that much. They are what truly make me hate it. a 3 inch pile of dirt shouldn't make a 2500+ lbs car go flying through the air.

Hah, Ironically, my monitor is exactly 27 inches. I thought about going to a triple set up, but since it wouldn't work on Ps4, I don't want to adjust on it, seeing as most of my friends I race with, are on PS4.

I'd go bigger screen, but I also play FPS, and I can feel quite competitive when playing them. And a larger screen is a disadvantage in FPS games. I've also contemplated changing my setup and making my racing setup a deticated set up, and set up a second screen for playing everything else on. But that creates a host of other problems (like switch boxes and such) that I simply don't feel like fooling with these days.

Well 27 inches from a foot or two away gets pretty small. I would suggest a second monitor/TV and you could probably just get a HDMI splitter... if that's a thing... and it is. Haha, just duplicate the image onto both then, it doesn't matter. You can get a pretty decent 27" for about $200. I went with 3 24" because that's as large as I could go and have them fit on my desk. They were $130-160.

Lol. That would be weird looking I think, with a random line down the middle of the windshield. I'm content with what I have. I think next time around I may try a 30" and see how I feel about that. But I've always played on a smaller screen (As a kid I played on a 19" TV, then for awhile when I didn't have money for anything else, I played on a 19 inch square monitor. Then I bought this 27 inch wide screen. So really, this is the biggest screen I've ever gamed on lol. I know it may be weird for other people. But I do just fine on it so whatever lol.

Also after finally getting the time to finish off the Wales rally tonight, I've decided that I hate that course with a burning passion. The thought crossed my mind while racing to try and find a way to mod it out of the game. Then while flying through there air off a 3 inch ramp, I thought to my self "I wonder if a dev has ever made a DLC to remove a track before... I'd buy that" lmao. It's been a long time since any track on any racing game has made me hate it so much. Dirt 3 had a few close ones for similar reasons though.

Nay, good sir. I have tried said setup though.... It'll work with some PC games since you can move the camera around... but if you got a second screen and a splitter, both screens would get the same image. Besides PS4 won't do multiscreens anyways. You have one monitor with your race rig, and the other... on a desk or something, I don't know, for everything else. Anything above 27" at 1080 you start to see pixels. With my 24" I tend to not use more than 2x AA if that because the pixels are small enough and more AA doesn't really do anything.

I honestly don't have that problem anywhere in Wales.... well... usually. There's a few spots. Most of the time I hit the steep cut out bank on one side, or slide a little too far out and have a tree tickle off my rear axle. Usually those problem bumps are on a pretty flat spot. You're also going to hate Greece. And Finland. Maybe Monte. Not sure about Sweden. But Germany's good.

I also just realized that you're playing this on PC... I thought you were using PS4... in which case, the monitor setup is even easier, you just stick the game on the monitor on your rig. No adapter for anything needed.

There are quite a few corners in the game that could do with a bit of advanced notation, even if it just means throwing a few more 'tightens' calls in there.

Actually, weirdly, I quite like Finland (And Monaco). I think it's because most of it is wide enough to mitigate the annoying launcher edges :P And Sweden is the only other place I really don't like. But it's mostly due to it having the largest about of Left/right 6's that are actually clearly 3s lol.

On the monitor note, I believe I've misunderstood you at some point lol. What would be the point of a duplicated image? Or are you meaning to set up a dedicated racing spot vs regular games I should do that?

And I was originally going to get it on PS4, but I hesitated due to unsurity of the CSR wheel working on Ps4, and by the time I'd sorted that it did work, my friend I planned on racing with the most, had traded the game lol. So I figured wth, might as well get it on PC, since I'll be playing it by myself anyway.

Indeed. I kind of wish I could edit the corner calls myself. I'd just have him say 3 or 4 instead of 5-6 lol.

Yeah, if you're on PC then you could just hook up a second monitor on your race rig. Although I guess that's only if you have a race rig. I use a crappy wheelstand I put in front of my desk.

Yeah, like I'd said before though, I feel like I'd get used to it, and it would mess me up when I go back to racing on Ps4 where all of my friends are lol. Don't want them to have any unfair advantages :P

I just had a awesome run at Finland in my second season of career (running the 70s cars now). Sadly, my recording program has been acting like a worthless PoS the last two days. I was going to make a vid compilation of my fails at wales but it didn't cap any of that either. worked fine til it updated and now it's s***. lol. The one thing I hate about PC gaming, nothing ever works right lol.

I'm also mad because I had the most BS car reset of all time and it didn't get that either. my left side wheels never left the track, and I was doing some epic driving to keep it off the trees (probably could never do it again lol) and then it just reset after a second or 2. That's when I exited the game lol.

A lot of monitors have multiple inputs, if not then a TV. Just saying, if you want to you can.
I don't know about that reset, but I hate when you slightly slide off the road into a stupid person that doesn't move and it auto restarts you and then stall immediately. I've also managed to stall while holding the clutch. In midair.

lmao at stalling in the air. And yeah, I usually just restart whenever I get one of those BS restarts. I slid off once and had my car almost to a complete stop with rear wheels still on track, would have lost maybe 2 seconds at most getting back under way. But I lightly tapped some idiot that didn't want to move, and it reset me for a 15 second penalty. Instant rage quit lol.

And I know how to dual screen on PC, I actually use my old 19inch as a second screen, but I just leave mic volume controls and comp stats on there so I can keep an eye on CPU/Ram usages typically. But also use it when I'm using my PS4 as  my main screen has my Ps4 and PC on it. So when I'm on my PS4 I'll dump my browser to my second screen so I don't have to switch the main screen back and forwards.

I just don't multi screen games, because, as I said, I play most of my multiplayer on PS4, and feel it would screw me up. At least until consoles can multi screen without needing multiple consoles lol.

I did Multi screen on Forza 4 once, just to test it out. It worked reasonably well. But having 2 360's running turned my room at the time into a oven lol.

I was going to say Forza 4. :p What a ridiculous thing. Though I suppose the 360's are cheap enough now.
I did Multi screen on Forza 4 once, just to test it out. It worked reasonably well. But having 2 360's running turned my room at the time into a oven lol.
Just crack them open since they're out of warranty anyways and make a custom cooled case. :D
Lol, that wouldn't help the room temp :P I don't currently have room to even bother with 360's anyway. Max I can have is my PC and PS4 until I get moved.

I don't know, you put some  liquid cooling on those bad boys, heat issue solved. I live in Tucson where the average summer temp is 100 degrees. My window is broken so in summer at NIGHT my room will hit 95. I don't think you can complain. I sleep near naked with a big fan pointing at me and I'm still sweating profusely. :D

I've been through Tucson many times lol. It's definitely hot down there, but you don't get a real feel of the heat til it gets over 100 due to the low humidity. Meanwhile, we have Florida level humidity here in Maryland in the summer and still get temps over 100 during summer (though generally it stays in the high 90s) I'd take Arizona dry kill you if you don't know better heat, over high humidity any day lol :P

A couple of years ago I went from LA-Naples. And along the way I hit 110+ Multiple times in the Imperial sand dunes, Arizona and Texas lol Rode I-8 to I-10 then all the way to FL lol.

The hottest I've ever felt was around 118 in Laredo Texas, The coldest was -28 (before wind chill) in Wyoming. I'll take the 118 over -28 any day lmao. It's rather interesting how different the terrain and weather are just within the US. Worst mistake I ever made was go the Keys in February and get sunburn and then go back home to 2 feet of snow the next day lmao. Goose bumps + Sunburn = Worst thing ever.

Shouldn't be a problem with XBones, they said it would be the next watercooler

Lmao. Well, I'm on PS4 now. But where I'm living atm has a lot more air flow, so heat build up isn't as bad. My old place, I had the walls of my gameroom double insulated to dampen the sound, and didn't consider the negative effects of trapping the heat lol. Next time I design a gameroom I'm going to have vents in the ceiling that I can turn on to draw heat out of the room. I'll probably have 2 vents, 1 for venting into the rest of the house in winter and one for venting outside in summer lol. (wired separately, of course.) But, I won't be bothering with that for another 5 or so years. Going to move one more time here soon, then I'm staying put while I build my money up lol.

I do still miss my old set up before I moved though, I had Atari 2600, NES, N64, Gamecube, Sega genesis, Sega CD, Sega Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PS3, Ps4, Xbox and Xbox 360 all hooked up in a dedicated gameroom lol. But life doesn't alway cooperate, so I needed to move. In my temporary spot, I'm just going to hook them up in the living room in one corner haha. But my PC and PS4 will be in a different room due to my cockpit set up, it would simply take too much room to have in the living room.

My friends also got most of those. Haven't tried to really set them up, but one time we did plug in the PSone with Metal Gear. It took us like an hour before we started to see in low poly. :D
Tucson being dry is the only good thing about this place.

Haven't heard that. But it is fun watching people try to say the Spanish themed names all over the place. I say Spanish themed because they look Spanish, but they're actually nonsense.

That's because you live there. Trust me, it's a common mistake for anyone outside of the southwest lol And it's hilarious every time. My cousin hit that with me once when I asked him where he was, because we were both headed towards FL from different locations (I was coming from Wyoming, he was coming from SoCal) and when he said tuckson I was like where the hell is that, what state? When he said Arizona I knew instantly what he was talking about and laughed hard at him lol. Good times.

Also, I finally had some more time to finish off Finland, and move forward in my career mode.
I may have pushed a bit to hard considering I don't know these courses :P But atleast my co driver didn't fail horribly this time.

He could've said Tucker, Why, or Happy Jack. Even from SoCal he should know some Spanish.
