Some more pics. Chassis is made form 8020 aluminum extrusions for the skeleton and MDF for the skin.

That's absolutely INCREDIBLE! I'd like to say 'nice one' @nicka117, but that doesn't quite go far enough! How long did it take you to build?

hey Jenny and F1rando, thanks for the compliments. I've been working on it for a few months--couldn't tell you how many hours, but it is relatively simple construction and very modular. I'm quite a ways from finished. My wife is wondering why there is a Formula One car in our living room.

I'll find a cool place for a big Codemasters F1 decal!

That's taking man cave to a whole new level, looks awesome! Whenever the next F1 game comes out Codemasters should give you a copy for free for putting in so much effort. Wouldn't be practical for me, as my dog likes sitting next to me when I'm using my wheel, he loves going in the car but he wouldn't fit in the cockpit, unless you could build a dog bed into the sidepod haha. Been here since 2010 and this is the best thing I've seen posted on here.

Amazing, I love the fact you're building in your front room, you must have a very understanding wife! Great project, wish I had one!

I actually thought it was one of those fishing chairs but with some padding :joy: So what I thought was amazing is even more so if that's possible.

Great job mate. You went all the way. I did a similar project a few years ago.

Base is constructed out of wood and MDF. 5.1 sound with the subwoofer under the seat and front speakers mounted in the mirrors. Whole set could be split up in two sections for transport. Best seat and wheel I ever had. Pedals were mounted on seat gliders from a Porsche :-)

Great job Marcel! My next one will be a Ferrari as well: the SF-16H. I'll probably put together some plans to show people how to do it. It's all pretty easy--just time consuming.

I will make the plans to make something like this. Not the whole chassis but something that could fit in a gaming room. You would need a drill and and (ideally) a power chop saw, and a few other cheap basic tools. And, hopefully the material cost (8020, MDF, seat materials, and vinyl wrap) to build would be under $700.

Yeah, this woud be great to make. My problem was making the seat, so I decide to use a playseat. The downside was that I couldn't position the seat like a formula one car and therefore couldn't raise the pedals enough. Overall effect however was great and the driving experience too. Like you I have an understanding wife :D :D :D

Thanks all for your compliments! Here are a few pics of how I custom molded the seat:

What material did you use to mold the seat?
