Console based threads

Recommended Posts

We are now 11 pages deep into console based threads that are about the same 5-6 things. Those things being;
  1. PS4 problems
  2. PS4 controller settings
  3. Xbox One problems
  4. Xbox one controller settings
  5. My first experiences
  6. The game is too hard
So, all I ask is that if you want to post something, please look and don't just come in and post about the same thing over and over. I was going to count the amount of quintuple postings but I can't be bothered. Every console based post can be categorized into these 6 topics and should only take 6 threads, not 11 pages. I'm not saying you can't have points, comments, arguments, or opinions, but please just stop with the sextuplet postings.
On that note, is there any possibility @SkiddyMcCrash could create some stickies for these threads and lock down the other ones? The PC userbase is basically avoiding the forums now because there's 11 pages of octuplet postings.

I'll accurately summarise the average console comment in one, merged paragraph:

This game is too hard, and it shouldn't be because I don't like hard games and I think that I should have power over the creative ideas of the developer. Not only that, but I'm in my 40's and make a 6 figure salary so my opinion is better than all of yours, especially being Godmode on Forza. Not having rewinds suck, because it just does, and I cannot appreciate that not all racing games have to be the same, but I don't care because I'm right. Behold my self-entitled power, and bow down. What I say goes. Now I'm going to ask for a refund and ride my horse until I calm down.

Unfortunately, there have been too few reasonable and light-hearted people joining the forum in the past week or so.

HAHAHAHA! That's great.  I don't know, a lot of people I've seen have been enjoying the game, even if it is too hard. I personally don't care if they make a training difficulty, but there's no reason to post it 7 times (I counted) including the ORIGINAL post from way back when. I don't have a problem with any of the postings, (except that guy) but their all being posted at least 7 times. These 11 pages could be condensed into 6 threads.

I guess it's not enough that some of you don't want to share the game with others - you don't want to share the forum either.

Might as well shut the whole place down if it's nothing but an echo chamber. It's starting to smell like the Project CARS forum.

P.S. - Repetitively complaining about repetitive posts, & complaining about complainers = ?

I agree that there are too many threads on the same topic. However, I smell some PC elitism. There's been lots of console related topics that states how truly awesome DR is but as so many loves to bash on the "console people" who thinks the game is too hard, those threads grows out of proportion.
Browse the DR facebook page, that gives a better view on how many on PS4/XBONE loves the game opposed to the few that moans about the learning curve.

I play on ps4.  I use a t300rs and found out what the settings were and how to setup my wheel correctly with 15min on google.  I love sims and am glad the game is not easy.  We do exist.

Don't tar us all with the same brush. As an Xbox player, who unlike others actually bothered to look into what I was buying, I'm enjoying the game more and more every time I play it. I was looking forward to the challenge the game was inevitably going to give, and every stage I complete I learn something. How much to learn there is in relation to how to drive different car classes/drivetrains etc, and especially the grip levels on different surfaces is just phenomenal.

Last night was the first time it properly clicked, first time I got to the end of a 10kilometre stage without a mistake big enough to cost me noticeable time, and that one stage was the single greatest experience I have ever had on any game. I'm kind of disappointed I've done it though, as although crashing out of the very next stage reminded me I still have a lot to learn, a couple of clean stages I've had since haven't quite had that overwhelming sense of relief and accomplishment that my first properly good stage did (although they're still bloody fun).

Why so much space in your comment? Did you even read what I said? There's at least 7 postings of those 6 IDENTICAL topics. They could easily be conglomerated into 6 threads instead of 11 pages. There's no "Console people can't use the forums" just stop quadruple posting. I don't go on other forums and continue to create new threads about things that there's already 17 other threads for. I'm also not saying to ban users, just merge the topics, not at all like PCars. But you do your thing.

Eh, have you read some of these threads the console guys are putting out? No one is saying they suck because they don't play PC. They come in and demand that CM changes the game for them, and everyone else can fuck off. That's what bear was alluding to, that guy pretty much said exactly that.

PS4 and Thrustmaster T300RS user here. After setting up the FFB correctly I'm really enjoying the game. Sure, it's difficult but so is real life, and I'm glad ! Coming from several years of Gran Turismo with it's 'chase the rabbit' AI which is frankly way too easy, then progressing to pCARS with it's more challenging AI, it's nice to finally have a racing game that drops you in at the deep end, grabs you by the scruff and shows you're not the driving God you thought you were !
As with pCARS, I've started DR with ALL driving aids turned OFF, determined to experience a small percentage of what a real Rally, RX or Hillclimb car can feel like, and I'm bloody loving it ! It's challenging, infuriating, tiring all at the same time, and it's all the better for it.
Too many games hold your hand nowadays and will let you win without too much effort, much like school sports days have been dumbed down so as not to upset the less athletic kids. It's nice to go back to the 'good old days' where you get a kicking from the resident bully to toughen you up !

I think saying "console based threads" makes it seem targeted at console players, when you really just mean "threads by new members who didn't bother to read," the fact that they are coming from the console release is tertiary. This did happen during PC early access, just not all in one big wave like it has recently.

We're not trying to shun you, console users! We just like our forums to be neat and tidy because that's how it's been for a while and change is scary.  ;)

I read every repetitive word you posted on this thread, and I see that you repeated the same things again in your repetitive complaint(s) about repetitiveness. Maybe if you repeat it some more, it'll help with the repetitiveness.  :p

If you can't be bothered to ignore & scroll past posts that you're not interested in, how you can expect others to take the extra step to first search for an existing topic to add to?

If this is your first time forum-ing, here's a quick tutorial... During the period shortly after a game is newly-released on a platform, it's typical to see a big spike in forum activity - much of it revolving around similar issues faced  by a number of people. A lot of people are more interested in getting their game-related issue(s) resolved than they are in catching up on the forum's history (they'd rather be playing the game than reading volumes about it), so they'll just post about the problem they're having, hoping for a solution It's a lot quicker & easier to check for replies to your own inquiry than it is to look for a needle in a haystack digging through mega-threads that are hundreds of pages long. It would literally require a round-the-clock full-time team of eagle-eyed moderators to instantly route every new post to an appropriate existing thread - an approach that would likely lead to another set of significant problems.

If everyone refrained from posting anything that has ever been said before, then this & every forum would be just about empty.

I see you've expressed your appreciation a number of times for CM's level of tolerance on this forum. Ever considered following that example?

None what so ever. If I could make a stickie I would have made them on the 4th and called them DiRT Rally PS4  and DiRT Rally Xbox One , because...

It happens every time. A relatively quiet period followed by intense activity over a month or so, the same questions/polls/requests for ACAT/demands to change the game, or else, posts appear over and over again, then it quietens down back to normal. There's not much I can do to stop it or even slow it down, it's the price you pay for having a popular game with an official forum. Most of the newbies disappear to the next big thing in a few weeks and a couple stick around and become regulars.

A lot of the regulars avoid the forum while the influx of newbies is here, they did it when the pc crowd started turning up and they've done it now the console crowd are here.

I don't blame them, it is a wise thing to do.

A little long I might repeat it some more, thanks for the suggestion.winded, I guess your bag must full. ;)

All I'm saying is

You don't need

That much space.

Actually,

I just asked a question.

But you can take a weird insult to it I guess?

I might repeat it some more, thanks for the suggestion.
Not sure how exactly my singular posted thread is SOOOO repetitive to you, but alrighty then. Seems to me like you're trying to find things to be angry about that don't really exist. I mean, we've talked about it in Bears happy place, but that's not a new thread, and you probably didn't read that, since you're obviously not a very happy person. It takes more effort for me to actively click and search through all the redundant postings than it does to use that magical empty square at the top of the page with a branded "Search" inside of it, it does magical things, like search for what you're typing in. I, yes even I have been known to use it from time to time when I'm looking for something. And, oh my God, I think, I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure, that when I go to other forums I use that magic box to try and find what I'm looking for, and ask my question in the correct and relevant thread. It takes roughly 30 seconds, and usually there's an answer for EXACTLY what I'm asking, and therefore don't post a new thread, or even reply, since my question hath been answered thanks to thee, wonderful magic box of search.

Yet again, I'm not saying people can't post, it's really not that hard to understand... People can post 90% of these threads in 6. It's not that complicated.

I do appreciate CM's tolerance, I wouldn't quite label it exactly like that, but again, as stated before, I'm not asking for anyone to be banned. I'm more than welcoming to newcomers, I've not yelled at anyone or degraded them (Except that one guy that deserved it) but they could use some simple forum features to get what they're looking for.

I saw that once on the steam forum

"How do you feel about beta testing a console game on PC before it is released on console?"

I answered ""I was expecting a console version. If it was on PC only, the racing community would shrink to a point no one would care about actual racing games.

I have hope since DiRT rally is mostly skill based."

It's cool to see new people playing the same game & share stuff. But the forum would be much better if you would more cooperative while giving tips to new users & actually be a little less snobbish on the matter.

Yes, new users will have trouble playing the game as much as when the game was released on early access.

I really don't see the reason why to separate the forum because it's on a different hardware. The game play exactly the same on PC/XBOX One/PS4.

They aren't asking for tips, those threads don't bother me. There's no snobbishness. Where are people pulling this from? The forum isn't separated, it's tidied up, just like every single other forum on the planet. I know PCars and AC aren't the friendliest forums, but at least they're organized. PC problems are in a PC thread, Xbox problems are in a Xbox thread, PS4 problems are in a PS4 thread. General issues are in a general issue thread, general discussion is in a general discussion thread. there's no separation, no snobbishness, no elitism, no segregation, just a tidied forum. It works for everyone. I have a PS4, I don't need to run through Xbox and PC troubleshooting threads for 11 pages to find something. I'm only interested in general discussion, I don't need to see the troubleshooting threads for anything, my game works fine. I only want to see the mods, or whatever. It's a clean approach that works by categorizing. Where the hell is this snobbishness and segregation of the PC master race from the filthy console peasants coming from? I'd really like to know.

New here and have found this forum to be very messy and not all that helpful , is there a way of getting spacific platform threads going ? Say
Dirt ps4
Dirt Xbone
Dirt PC
Then sub threads for wheel settings and so forth .
And the same for the other titles.
Take a look at project Cars forum , pretty well set out .

I don't even know @2stains and he's agreeing with me. He probably hasn't even read this.

I think it's a fair point regarding the replication of threads, I guess some people are not forum savvy, I'm sure there were duplicates back in the Early Access days ;) However I hope this place doesn't get like PCars did, the yawnsome oneupmanship was pathetic. Consoles need PC players and vica versa in equal measure, it's what paves the way for more great games.

This is exactly the way i see it . Nothing more than being able to find my specific area .
On pcars forum  i just use ps4 tech help and general ps4 stuff . In tech help there is a dedicated Fanatec sticky and a ffb thread were all my questions go and get answers if possible .
Now there is even becoming a helpful Dirt rally thread starting but without the experience or you guys that are experienced  with Dirt and Codemasters .
Ask me for help with ps4 pcars and i will help as much as possible . Pcars forum is quite good untill one of the devs or mods pop in .lol

I'm still having trouble getting the ffb right on tarmac and rally x . All the loose surface stuff is awesome but smooth stuff the wheel won't self centre after being turned past 90 degrees , it just goes limp and stay turned in said direction and rally x seems to be jut canned ffb .
I use Fanatec 911 Gt2 on ps4 and have tried all sorts of settings =(

While we're on the subject of threads and subforums, can we get a subforum for sharing car setups?

Steam users can use the Workshop of course but us console players don't have a way to download setups in-game and would like a place to find and share screenshots of setups :)

I have the same wheel and that's about the way it goes. I play on PC, but the Fanatec FFB seems a bit off across the board. I've even looked into the files I can edit, but there's not much in there. And it wouldn't help you anyways. I did manage to get the wheel to mostly stop limpwristing on me, but not sure if the PS4 settings are different from PC. RX FFB is bad on all platforms currently, and just before console release it was  different from everything else anyways, you needed to change your FFB settings. I'll get back to you.

*However, I smell some PC elitism.
Lmao. Its smells  big time. PC guys have been giving console users a hard time all over these Dirt forums. They are having a hard time sharing. They think they know it all.
Problem comes down to CM once again. They are too lazy to give console users their own section here,  like all other games do. If they had, then we wouldnt have so many PC trollers hopefully in console section. And it wud help tremendously for console users being more organized.
Instead CM decides to mix together brand new console players in with a years worth of issues from PC users that most are not even relevant anymore. While PC trollers wait to jump. And when they cant find anything to jump on, they creat stupid degrading threads like this one.
CM your Lazy, just lazy and not caring. Like leaving out multiplayer, u couldn't find the time to make a console section.
