Codemasters... why is f1 2013, 60 dollars on PSN...?

Recommended Posts

i never actually played f1 2013 and heard amazing things about it and i want to buy it but cant buy a disc copy cause the laser is broken on my ps3 and im in canada, its hard enough finding an f1 game, and i rather not buy a laser then go looking for f1 2013 in a store in a country where f1 isnt very big AND f1 2012 is 28 dollars and f1 2014 is 20 dollars? what kind of logic is that!?!? also f1 2011 on PSP is 38 dollars, is this sonys fault or you guys? i need some career mode and i want to put my g27 to good use since i have a ps4, and its incompatible on there

when f1 2014 first came out it wasnt even 60 dollars so how is it that a 3 year old game is more expensive then a 2 year old game and im not even trying to get the classic edition which would cost 75 dollars...

I never bought it cause i ent spending that type on a game i just bought from game for half the price. I think that psn needs to lower there prices because for nfs and project cars, for deluxe edition over £120 for me. Also i saw a game that cost like £180. I said this before sabout the prices but its best if it just stays there. if u know what i mean

F1 2013 cost more because of the the added content, that's all. It definitely NOT worth $60 tough.

F1 2013 is like 28 dollars Canadian in most places I look and i'd be willing to pay that but 60 dollars is ridiculous I could buy a new game with that money

it doesn't make much sense and in my opinion its not worth $60 right now. The prices in Canada are always a little weird considering its the same in the store as the US price even though are dollar is 0.75 of theirs. even when it comes to buying the new game I'd say always get it through the store so you don't have to pay HST, especially in Ontario where the game will cost about $100 this year

I never understood why a downloaded game is more expensive than a hard copy. No box, no dvd etc.

Maybe because it's more convenient for the customer therefore PSN/Xbox One/Steam know they can sell it for more:)

The RRP is the same for both the hard copies and the downloads (arguably it shouldn't be, but hosting and bandwidth etc. do cost a non-negligible amount of money, just like printing and shipping boxes to retailers does).

The main difference is that the stores that sell you a disc in a box are free to undercut the RRP as much or as little as they like, in order to compete with other game stores. Microsoft and Sony, however, can't really be in the business of competing with those game stores, so they pretty much have to offer game downloads at their RRP, barring sales and other promotional offers.

I do not quite follow why Sony and Microsoft and Steam can't compete with other game stores. There will be profit for them at the end of the line, so more sales will mean more profit. Shop owners also have costs (rent, staff etc.) I think another mechanism kicks in here, one I don't understand :D Maybe it has to do with Wholesale compared to one copy and licenses.
