SO MUCH RAGE RIGHT NOW

Recommended Posts

I think there was a famous rally car driver who was in the lead but his car died a few hundred metres from the last stage's finish, sadly can't remember who that was. That's rally...
Carlos Sainz. Last stage of the RAC Rally.

Had to drag it out of the woods on a trailer.
You're lucky I don't post the video of your 'off' on the Neath Valley stages in 2011 ;)
Lol! I don't think I've ever seen it but I imagine in looks pretty silly. It did from inside the car anyway.

Carlos Sainz, 1998. It would have been his third drivers' crown.
Yep. Sainz lobbed his helmet through the back window of the Corolla! I'm sure Makkinen was away from the rally when he was told he had won the title.

Yes, they reached Tommi Makinen at the airport to give him the good news.

As a spaniard that moment is history of our motorsport. What Moya said before he threw the helmet: "trata de arrancarlo, trata de arrancarlo Carlos, trata de arrancarlo por Dios" (Try to start the engine, try to start the engine Carlos, for god's sake), is a very famous quote here in Spain.

Poor Carlos and Moya, they deserved it so badly, rotten luck.

@JonTucker Ouch, that looks like a broken suspension arm, hopefully back on your feet again, love to see some more rally footage :)

I swear I'm going to sulk over Latvala's roll until next year or whenever he wins a championship, one or the other. It's as heart tearing as Carlos' incident.

I feel sorry for them as well - especially Carlos, I think we all do - he really should have gotten that title - but I also felt sorry for Colin when he missed out on his title in 2001. I was happy for Burns that got it instead, of course! But the silence in Colin's car after that roll is forever imprinted into my mind. It must have been so devastating.

Right! If you're complaining about having fucked up a Dirt Rally monthly, just imagine his rage...
You didn't see me. I nearly threw my cup of tea at the TV.

Huh, i thought it was Carlos that threw it too, wouldn't have guessed Moya, but it's not impossible.

And yes, they were filming Tommy at home when he got the call, odd way to win a title :)

Watching him grind to a halt *right* before the finish line with the engine boiling over was the weirdest sight though!

@Rallycameraman Post that 2011 clip & @RallyDriven post the beached photo :)
I doubt I could find it, it was quite a long time ago now, about 3 or 4 years ago

Here is the in-car.

Stupid thing is the Marshall on the start control told us there was a hole there and that loads of cars had already fallen into it. I just didn't think it was THAT close!

Guys. IT FUCKING HAPPENED AGAIN.

Stage 19 this time. Long Monte Carlo stage, about half way through the stage and there is a tight 1 right. I braked well in advance, but just ran a little wide and caught the low wall on the outside of the turn. Instead of bouncing off the wall, the car carried on over it and, despite my best (panicked) reaction, fell off the other side, tumbling into the ravine below and bringing up the grey screen.

I was sat for a good 20 seconds gawping at the screen taking in the "car unrecoverable" text and absorbing the situation before I began unleashing a torrent of four letter words at the TV.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!

I DNF'd also. Slid a little bit too close to the edge, even though I could have easily driven away it still knocked me out. This strangely seems to only happen in monthlies for me. I sense trickery! Trickery, I say!

Four stages to go and the end is in sight (again). My RS200 is a bit battered, but everything is above 80%. I got a puncture at the start of one of the long stages in Wales, so repairing that has sent me plummeting down the standings: with the upper tier out of reach I'm thinking a slow cruise to the end and I can finally secure my first monthly finish!

Definitely a good idea, given that I pre-maturely ejected into stratosphere in that monthly xD
