Which Group A car would you buy?

Recommended Posts

You actually don't have anything remotely resembling the first clue, dear love you....

As I typed that request above earlier, I suddenly remembered your M3 setup, the one that had full rear brake bias to initiate oversteer and a fully locked accel. diff with no decel. lock & no pre-load?  I realised how hilariously wrong that was & had a chuckle to myself.

But hey, All Hail King Porkhammer - Master of the DiRT PC Leaderboards!!  :D

Bit salty in here...

Anyhow am loving my Impreza choice but then I'm not at the stage of tweaking it to buggery.

Not yet anyway.

I never set full rear brake bias - quite literally never, ever. You made that up for whatever reason. Also, did you even try the updated M3 setup? Please stop talking out of your behind.

I like it as well, I just dislike the massive amounts of understeer that comes with it. It takes ages for me to adjust to it because I'm all for throttle oversteer; the Integrale is better (for me) in that regard.

Yeah, maybe not "full", but pretty dangerously close....  & If the first version had displayed anything close to a glimmer of being remotely usable, hell, I'm all on for evolving something that's good in the persuit of greatness, but the first was such a busted mess, & previous experience of your setups left me with very low expectations, so I didn't waste my time with the update

That's fine, I'm not telling you to like them. My setups suits some people, others not so much. I simply adjust the values until the car feels as close as possible to the way I want it. It may not be 100% super duper accurate to values in real life, but hey... I didn't make the game. I just tweak.

Been driving that Lancia for several hours now and it's the first car that got me into Clubman championship.  Doing really well there now too so might be up for another promotion straight away.  It's fully upgraded now (still default settings) and I really like the car.

The sound isn't that bad either, especially coming from Forza 6. :)

Yeah I've noticed the understeer, it feels a little out of place considering at speed the car feels pretty nibble and fit for throwing around a bit.

Unless you talk about the driving. Yeah, going slowly lets you throw it around.
That explains why I can throw it around then!  :D

Definitely the '95 Subaru. Since I got it, it's almost all I've been driving. It's the quintessential rally car...and has been really good for me at least, in regards to getting accustomed to driving fast! Just my humble opinion.

subaru impreza '95 is understeer central, but doesn't mean it was a bad car. It's the easiest to drive

Ford Scort is badass and will always be

Lancia Delta two times chapion

Make your choice

Lancia Delta two times chapion
Six - 1987 to 1992 - along with 46 rally victories, and four world champion titles for drivers (2x for Juha Kankkunen, and 2 for Miki Biasion).

Still no Racenet for xb1, so out in the Impreza doing random stages for fun!

Which made it the most successful rally car in history. Slightly OT, but Lancia used to be in rally what Ferrari is in Formula 1. What's left today? Sigh.

Well, just for @Porkhammer, i'm pretty certain we won't have the sound issue with the Integrale in the future ;)

& if Iv covered them correctly, I set a stage record for every stage in Finland in my Grp A Impreza on the Xbox earlier. :)

Now we're outside the hospital timing my wife's contractions!!

After my Delta was fully upgraded now I'm trying out the Escort, it's a really fun car to throw around corners.  And the sound certainly isn't that bad.

It's using the Ford Sierra sound as a placeholder until they can record a proper group A Escort - so I agree that it doesn't sound bad. Then again I love the Sierra to bits, so maybe I'm a teeny tiny bit biased... ;)

What sound did they use as a placeholder for the Lancia Delta? A Vauxhall Corsa? Sounds bloody awful! Although it's a nice drive :)

Apparently, a very old recording of a Renault 5. So this horrible noise is shared by no less than 3 cars in the game at the moment.

:(

Thanks for the info Porkhammer.

You think we will get the proper sounds in future updates?  Or will they just leave it as it is?  This is my first CodeMasters car sim game so I have no idea how they threat their own customers / products.  But certainly can't be worse than Turn 10...

We simply don't know. Might be that they patch in some new sounds as we go along. Some cars got updated sounds during (and after) EA, so they might update them. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I doubt we'll see anything updated sound-wise in DR, but i know they've been recording more cars since release, so expect new/correct sounds in as much as possible going forward.
