How Dirt Rally AI works and win recipe (PS4)

Recommended Posts

If that is your line then it is far from perfect. Try to get good at the game and not complain that you cant beat it with your left pinky. And what the hell is an antispin setup?
I have no trouble beating the Masters A.I. by at least 30 sec. on a short stage in finland. I put the time in and tried to learn, yes its frustrating in the beginning when you dont know how to properly drive a rallycar but thats the point, it is hard, it is unforgiving but on the flipside it is oh-so rewarding when you get through it.

So record your perfect driving line with 4WD/RWD car and -30sec advantage in Greece and Wales. Don't back without this.

Surely you can see by the leaderboards that you're not the fastest? Put some time into the game, watch some of the in-game tutorials and there are also some good ones on YouTube. It is possible to beat the AI on all difficulties, even without learning all the stages off by heart. I'm not the best, but I've beaten the AI on elite on a long Finland stage by about 26 seconds, and I don't really know any of it from memory

Well i'm not a driving god but i was good enough to snag position #15 on the 1970's Sweet Lamb leaderboad. At time of writing at least.

Having the right setup was a key factor....pick a car, stick with it and invest the time in finding one that works for you. I spent three days fiddling with my bits  before i was ready...oh, and the car too :)

Seriously, no offence, but you're just bad. A game shows up that don't hold people by their hand and reward them for winning against AI that doesn't know what a throttle is and you have a gigantic storm of noobs complaining. Suck it up and git gud.

Whats the point with these posts? This game is very hard, and saying no offense and then offend the guy is just lame!

As you saw from photos on the other thread you have to be among the top 30(Xbox) in the world(on several stages you have to beat the world record...) to beat the best AI on the easiest setting so it doesnt matter what you think when its clearly hard for most gamers playing the game.

Take into account that codriver is not to be trusted, tracks are very far from real with jumps on every corner and concretegravel and snowedges among others, so its nothing wrong with raising ones opinions about this.

Yes, we know you are good at this game so why dont give him some pointers on how to improve instead of beeing condesending?

Newbie = new player at the game
Noob = player who acts like a newbie while having already a lot of hours in the game

So... who's offending who again? I just pointed out a fact -_-

Also, just because Xbox players aren't good at this game doesn't mean anything. On top of that you chose the only class and the only location where AI can give some kind of challenge in rally mode. And a class that is rather rarely chosen to that. Also, the fact that the game is difficult for most players is not a bad thing. It's a good thing, because that means you casuals, instead of being as usual taken by a hand and given a reward for everything you do, you actually need to learn how to play the game.

Co-driver can't be trusted? Maybe try and learn what the calls means before saying that, as every single player here who has no issues beating AI on Master level will tell you, that co-driver notes are essential to driving through the stage at a solid pace. Even when we know the tracks like the back of the hand, the calls are still important to remind us of some nasty spots and time our actions. Raising your opinion about something is good, but that doesn't justify spouting out nonsense just because you're bad at something.

There's an interesting thread stickied at the top, you might want to take a look at it. Here, I'll even link it: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/40869/community-rally-school-having-questions-bout-driving-techniques-game-features-setups-go-here/p1

If all you're gonna do is complain about AI difficulty and how impossible it is, (while the fact on the matter is that it's too easy actually, apart from few instances) then you're not gonna get any help at all. But if you would come out and ask for tips because you can't manage to defeat AI, you would be showered with people that are willing to teach you.
You know, it's quite a simple thing. You bite, we bite. You play nice, we also play nice.

Again I'm waiting for video proof for "huge andvance" or "no issues beating AI on master level" - Greece,Wales, Finland and 4WD/RWD car with x360 controller, xOne controller or DS4.

On the internet you can be whoever you want.

Why do you need video proof? You think just because you can't do it, nobody else can? That attitude won't get you far here. I don't want to be rude but... you need to improve. Play more. You don't get good over night in this game. It will take many, many, hours and grinding of teeth.

I have more important things to do in my life than mastering this game.
I want to have fun now, not after 800 hours in game.

Then this is not the game for you. This game was designed by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts - and it's an authentic experience. You might want to play this:

Not only enthusiasts buying games. And I don't see  the inscription  "only for the enthusiasts" on the box.

@TMZ - I'm definitely no Porkhammer or RyuMakkuro (I actually haven't seen any RyuMakkuro, but I trust what he says...oddly), I will say that I've never had so much fun losing. I would also like to say that there has never been a console driving game that I couldn't dominate upon putting it into the machine. I'm now just under 10,000KMS driven (PC guys get hours...we get distance driven) and I'm just starting to get competitive in Elite level in rallies...and I don't count Greece...that rally kicks my...ahem...every time. That said, and I say this because I'm not very good at this game...yet, but I can smoke the AI in rallycross in the Master level. Dude, if I can do it, so can you.

The first thing to help you go  faster is to turn all the assists off. It'll be all over the place at first, but you'll get a "feel" for it and go much faster. The second thing is to listen to your co-driver and turn early. Even when corners are blind, trust your co-driver and turn. Don't mash your accelerator or brake pedal. Drive it like a real car. Forgive the verbose message, but what made me comfortable with the physics was doing "hot laps" on one stage (Kailajarvi - Finland). This will one, teach you how to listen to your co-driver. Two, once you get to know what's coming, you'll realize that you can go WAY faster than you thought. That means that when your driver will call out the corners, you now know roughly how fast you can take the corner. It's key to listen to his warnings. i.e. inside crest...if you take it in the middle or the outside, when you come down you won't be in prime position for next corner, which will seriously slow your stage time down. The old racing saying goes "slow is fast" Don't try to win a rally on one corner. It ain't gonna happen. Be consistent...the speed will come. And finally, a big mistake I made was get into the habit of restarting if I crashed. Terrible, because once you start getting into on-line events, you're not prepared, as there is no "restart". Make a commitment to yourself to not restart, and you'll learn to drive rally.

There will be an "ah ha" moment when you understand the feel. Wait for it 'cause it's so rewarding when that happens...

So I'm the idiot? I'm not the one refusing to learn here. Indeed, not only enthusiasts buy games - but only enthusiasts go for games that are described (as has been clear for over one year) as an authentic rallying experience.

Learn to play, or play something else? Why do you feel the need to stick around and call people idiots for being better players than you? What do you hope to accomplish?

I find pointing someone to a thread FULL of all kind of advices on that subject is better than writing an essay of a post about things already explained elsewhere. And a lot better than I ever could to that.

Only one me xD I do have a YouTube channel, though highly inactive (massive lack of motivation to do anything). And I do dailies very rarely. Mainly to get some quick practice before going for a League run.

Will Monte Carlo or Sweden do? I don't usually record my runs, since I'm not really that into it. I also have Pikes Peak run with Quattro. And yes, I use a DualShock 4. I have a crapload of footage from V1 days where I sometimes beat AI by 20s and then lose by 15s, though those were early days where AI had completely different times and Quattro was over 30s slower per stage compared to Peugeot 205. And I wasn't that good or confident in the cars (the V1 was a lot more difficult to handle).

If none of those are interesting, I can record a Sierra Cosworth run through Finland, since that's one thing I've been itching to do for some time now. Though I expect you'll come up with something else at that point. There's that "waste of a time" thought floating in my head right now...

Someone has clearly missed the product description that has been literally  EVERYWHERE prior to release and also the fact that he/she might not be the target audience.

Not our fault that you don't do your research before buying.

''DiRT Rally is the most authentic and thrilling rally game ever made, road-tested over 80 million miles by the DiRT community. It perfectly captures that white knuckle feeling of racing on the edge as you hurtle along dangerous roads, knowing that one crash could irreparably harm your stage time.''

I agree CM boys have totally lost their minds on the AI department in this game. They went full retarded. Too bad for this game is truly great. Patching the stupid AI times plus a couple of rallies more, like Australia and the old good rally safari (Kenya) is all this game needs to become perfect, as well as some little adjustment on the gravity department since V2 physics...

Sims was advertised as a life simulator.
Battlefield was advertised as a "most authentic war simulator"  so here you have that realism https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqDzeyrXxRI ;)

If you believe in everything that some writes... Oh God, you must have a hard life...

BTW - that quote is from Metascore ? Same idiots who give a 4/10 for new  ND production ? LMAO ;)
