Dirt Rally V1.1 bugs Codies clearly don't read them

Recommended Posts

Glad you got the drift.

Look if you and your mate Tummie have a gripe consider what the best way of getting it heard is;

1) Log the issue in the appropriate thread and wait like the rest of us for a resolution (which probably won't come from the community manager)
2) Spam the forum with entitled threads (as if your issue should be top of the list, or should we all make individual threads about the issues we find?) and pointless polls

So this appears to center around one person, the Community Manager, not explicitly saying they are working on a specific bug (of many) which leads to the assumption that nothing is been done. Whilst I'm sure it would be nice to have someone hold your hand on each individual issue can any of the detractors point me in the direction of where it says the Community Manager must respond, in writing, to each and every issue?

If you are expecting that I think you have first missed what a Community Manager actually does and secondly will be waiting a bloody long time to hear back, from any Community Manager, of any game. It was the same with Project Cars, the people at SMS learnt quickly that putting themselves out there on the forum was a major no no, for whilst you'd expect gamers to appreciate their participation they were giving they soon found that people would line up with their own personal gripes and expect individual answers and then get all bitchy when they did not get a direct response- constantly.

A patch will come and likely fix it, if not then wait for the next patch.

I don't think several threads saying the same thing will make any difference either.
No one is saying the Community Manager has to respond to every post or even issue, but isn't a Community Manager meant to erm well manage the community????

I don't need my hand holding and nor does the other persons affected, so patronising comments aren't really productive are they?

Seeing as you are an industry expert, please feel free to enlighten all of us children as to what a Community Manager does, aside from not respond to posts from children who need their hands held.

Why shouldn't people line up to gripe, if I bought a faulty product in the high street I go back and voice my complaint to someone at Customer Services, if I buy a product online I send an email or phone. My point being you have an outlet to express your complaint. This is a place that enables us to just that.

But if this thread gets your back up then don't read it. Simples.....

@KK78 , It's an ancient rule that with attention comes growth, you've just made to problem bigger with your reaction for which I must thank you. The bigger the problem, the higher its priority. The higher the priority, the faster the solution.

BTW it's not about the community manager at all, she's just our first point of contact regarding updates on this matter. This has been confirmed by herself by making a statement.

Oh it's about the community manager. She's had plenty of insults from you guys already.

If she wrote "we are working on it" you would still spam the forum with this crap.

A community managers role in the forum is only a small part of the jobs description, they are basically a PR for the company where they organize meetings for potential clients and communicating between the team and management etc. They don't have to post on the forum thats why they have moderators now to help with the running of the forum.

Why people, why? If you'd be in a group with a problem this big, I'd support you, at very least wish you good luck, how far off is your reaction? And I wouldn't try to make a living predicting the future, cause we are very easy to get rid off, by exactly that answer. Make it "sorry guys, we are actually working on it", just to be sure.

BTW,  thnx for the attention anyway!

Can you help me get into touch with them moderators ? Are the able to comment on the matter? Should we let Christina know that we are moving the "conversation" we are having with her to someone else?

Listen, i'll spell it out in plain English as quite a few of you have difficulty understanding.

Codemasters releases a game called Dirt Rally, it was marketed as a rally sim. Only thing is this game has bugs which is making this sim seem as realistic as Mario Kart.

Ok, so we have a bug or two. NO problem, it'll be fixed right? I know I will go the Codemasters forum to see if it is mentioned. Check! It's been picked up by others. That means it will be acknowledged by Codies now right.... Er wrong.....

Few weeks pass, still no admission or acknowledgment. Well, given that these games aren't cheap and i'm fed up with collecting Codemaster games and using the discs as tea coasters (Little round things us English folk like putting our tea cups on to stop it damaging the table) I decide to contact them, first via Facebook Messenger to the Dirt page, then Twitter, then I call Codemasters at 11am to be told their customer services isn't open until 2pm!

What am I to do, i've attempted reasonable channels of communication with no reply. I know i'll DM the Community Manager who I believed was responsible for relaying our issues to the devs. How mistaken I was, therefore after numerous posts from others like me, I decided to post again on the main forum, so sorry @bogani if you don't like my spamming these pages, but I am not a mute and nor should I except a fix with no rough timeframe attached to it. If I bought an iPhone and it didn't call people, because Apple forgot to add that piece of software, is it acceptable to just assume it's being fixed?

So it is you that are in fact spamming this thread with your infant like comments. Isn't it time you had your nappy changed, it's starting to stink out the thread.

Exactly a Community Manager is primarily focused to spread news and promote the game, it's events, general PR and it's new features. Rarely does a Community Manager have the insight or technical experience to comment on technical issues UNTIL news of a fix comes from the developers. In short creating whole threads to 'call out' the Community Manager is like going into a McDonalds and shouting at the guy who cleans the car park when there's an issue with your Big Mac.

Ok, so that's fine and thank you for clarifying that. Please feel free to direct me to someone who can assist me and i'll be very grateful.

She did say if you don't want your tweet to be missed while she is away, mail to dirtgame@codemasters.com

Your analogy is poop!!! Who here is shouting at anyone. I am merely stating as I have right to do I think their way of handling major issues are off. I've not threatened anyone, i'm voicing an opinion.

Ok, so you think I don't have a valid point, that's fine and your right to disagree, but come on using the McDonalds bit just shows a lack of valid argument.

If I buy a pair of jeans and they have a split in the stitching, do I personally seek out the individual who made the jeans in a factory somewhere and begin berating them, or do i contact the company who made the item and raise the issue. In other words, if you complained to a large global company about a pretty big issue, and then did not receive a reply at all, despite trying various methods, would you then just not bother and just let your money go to waste?

You probably think me an arrogant self centred a%*#wipe, full of his own self importance, well you would be right on all counts Sir. I am indeed self centred and I have expectations that when I buy an item it should work as described, if it doesn't work then how can this issue be fixed. I think that's more than reasonable don't you....

I glanced over the thread quickly. I feel the frustration some people are having and fully agree that Codemasters isn't communicating things to players in very clear way.
People aren't asking for patchnotes in advance, but them to acknowledge bugs and telling us that they are really looking for things.
There should be thread where first post is updated as they acknowledge bugs and then current status for it's fixing/fix deploying. This one single thing would make everything so much better.

The analogy works because it simply points out that you are complaining to & about the wrong person, in the wrong thread.

It would be nice if your consumer rights were not infringed and everything worked as you want. Sadly this is the gaming industry we are talking about.

I accept that, you don't.

C'est la vie...

So you are seriously comparing a game on a specific platform with a specific wheel not working as expected to an iPhone not being able to call people? Maybe that comparison would be viable if the game couldn't get past the loading screen, but this is a specific wheel on a specific platform.
I feel your frustration, I really do, but you are making this out to be as big as the Sim City launch disaster. It's not.

You can still play the game with your controller. Maybe it's not what you want but you can not call it unplayable. I assure you they know about the PS4 T300 problem and I assure you they will fix it. How and when? I have no idea. They might be working together with Thrustmaster to dial it out? It's not a tickbox "add T300 FFB", I'm sure you understand that.

It's a shitty situation. If you can't accept it takes some time to sort, ask for a refund.

Oh, and the only infant like comments around here are yours towards the community manager.

Well said @Kakkela. They could start a locked thread, just for their updates only.

The problem is not just Dirt, it's many of their games that get released full of bugs and when it's a game breaking bug such as F1 2015 when it was unplayable online. The FFB T300 bug was also raised very quickly after release but again, it was forever and age before it was publicly acknowledged.

I play a lot of games and yes there are many that have some issues and bugs, some more than others e.g Battlefield. But it seems that I have had more issues with Codemasters games than others and everytime their reaction is not great.

This then leads to frustration and hence threads like this....

The lack of  T300 FFB makes this Mario Kart? Please tell us more about this.

You are a member of the PC master race, you figure it out genius.

I don't play with pads, I have a wheel, that's my personal preference, and if that doesn't work on a driving game then there is clearly an issue.

So because of my preference that in fact does make the game unplayable and i'm the douchbag!

You don't DM/PM a community manager. There are 1000's of people who probably do that and I am sure @ChristinaMc is sick of it. All the rants, insults and crying in private messages. Even her profile "wall" is full of **** posted by millennia-generation spoiled brats who cannot read probably and don't have patience. I do admit they could break up their patches into smaller fixes, hotfixes and big patches, but if that's not the case it's not right to send dm's / pm's to the community manger and insult her or capslock stuf like: "PLEASE FIX THIS NOW ASAP.!!" etc etc. There is a topic for normal bug talking and normal manners. You can report bugs there and read if they are working on bugfixes. Just have patience. A company is not perfect. A company is ran by people who also have to learn how Early acces works, how post-early acces works, how you communicate with the fanbase, how you can improve your patch-support etc etc. So don't all mass send dm's / pm's to @ChristinaMc but read / scan the forum for useful posts about the issue. That the T300 isn't working properly on the PS4 had ofcourse a twoside coin: They tested it properly but somehow a bug managed to creep into the files or they didn't test properly and released it anyway due the deadline. So have patience, have manners and don't all mass insult / scream / duck onto Christina. Maybe you guys are more harsh towards a woman cause you think she is weak. I bet you don't to this is the community manager was a male. and I am sure you people don't mass send stuff to her and post on her profile is you knew her real life or as a person on school / work / etc. It's not also Codemasters that has to improve their support / patchsupprt, etc. but also the community of DR / Codemasters itself. and in general on Steam and everywhere on the internet.
I actually agreed with you until you made it personal and suggested that I am annoyed because the CM is a woman now!! that I am in someway sexist, dude you are a..........

I couldn't give a hoot what sex, race or creed someone is. Don't try to assume you know me, and FYI douchebag I did actually raise similar issues with F1 2015 and those were all male CM's.

I never suggested anyone was weak and I am utterly fuming you should even suggest that!!!!!!

Firstly, creating three threads discussing the same issue, spamming other threads across the forum, and being rude about community managers (this especially!) are not on. Seriously. I shouldn't have to say this, but you can talk about bugs and not be rude at the same time. I really shouldn't have to say that, but it feels like I need to. There is absolutely no excuse for posting some of the things you've posted.

As to the issue at hand, I'll see if I can get an update for you.

Firstly, @jennyannem thank you for acknowledging and I look forward to getting an update.

Secondly, I have not been rude about CM's. Stating that I don't think we have been informed adequately isn't being rude. And the other comments on here have hardly been moderated. And before it gets mentioned I am not trying to bully you because you are female as previously suggested.

This all could have been avoided by Codemasters providing us with more information in the first place.

.....i, ahem...I might have made some inappropriate jokes, they seemed funny in my own language and culture, some even deserved some LOL clicks, but I'm willing to take full responsibility in exchange for this update. And since the update is allready underway: I am fully responsible. Bring out the rotten tomatoes!
