Codemasters should pass the baton? (yes or no)

Recommended Posts

my only problem with Codemasters is how long it takes to get the game out. Any other sport game comes out either before the season starts or somewhere near the beginning, and then said company updates. Either a week or 2 after release. Codemasters releases the game almost with the season completed. So now I have to mod the game to be current, as I will play last years game modded with this years drivers/schedule.
Codies have said in the past that they don't get any prior access to the cars/calendar etc in order to start development early. They see them at the same time as we see them, which is usually only a couple of weeks before the season starts. In terms of balancing the teams that all has to be done realistically, from Melbourne.

I'm fairly sure development starts before that (It wouldn't surprise me if work on the 2017 game hasn't started in some form or other already, even if it's just pre-production and concept stuff.)
A summer release date is about the earliest the can get something out without rushing it and even then a 10-12 month dev cycle is pushing it.

It would be awesome to have the game out by the time the first race has lights out, but I just don't see it as being realistically possible.

Personally I think they've made a pretty strong base with 2016, like they did with 2010. Bearing in mind it took them 4 years to reach what is arguably their peak with F1 2013, I think they should have a year or two more to see what they can do with the current form of the game.

Be careful what you wish for, I think Codemasters are doing a great job, especially this year with all the features and all of the community involvement. I'd be quite sad if another developer got the license, we would just be back into a world of unknown. Codies really listened to the feedback of people these forums and have created a game that essentially the fans asked for. Developers like EA, all they care about is making money on FIFA Ultimate Team etc. Keep up the good work Codies, I'm loving the games and look forward to next year.

I have no reasoning for it but I feel it needs to change. But I wanna wait until the ownership of1 F1 changes. If it changes in the next week or in the next 10 years. I feel everything in the current f1 needs to change!
