Codemasters should pass the baton? (yes or no)

Recommended Posts

Soon we will have the Olympics in my country,
but not on the torch that rightfully belongs to Rio that I doubt.

Yes, do you believe that Codemasters should gives place to another producer. For you, not necessarily CM is not competent, but perhaps now the model Codemasters make games should be improved.

Or not, Codemasters is on road and will come an F1 game up to the players with exciting features. A complete game to mark time.

Dude, saying something like this .. I mean they are strong words to use when you don't understand the bigger picture, if someone like EA were to take over look at all the other games they make. They add the odd feature or 2 and update the skins and you could argue "well thats what Codemasters do meh meh meh" but I mean they are genuinely guys who like F1 and yes its fair to say they like the money too because who doesn't but if  EA (just my example) were to get the license the series would go down hill and EA are more of an arcade racing game sort of company. I mean NFS 2015 didn't even have manual gears up until a few months ago :) Thanks for reading my rant but just really wanted to get that off of my chest :P

Yeah it's not that CM haven't go tthings wrong because clearly bu tthere's not really anyone out there that can pay for the license that are willing to do as good a job as CM. EA would likely just use it as another cash grab and Sony/Microsoft will likely use it to get selling points for their consoles so in my opinion it's better off with CM imo.

Really, EA made games around Arcade mode (auto gears, for example), but the EA graphic engine is very complete, realistic. Codemasters need to arrive in better graphics. All will depend too, the currently consoles, because with new Video Cards in PC like GTX 1080, is possible play two F1 2015 at the same time, at least. I hope that this new Engine, EGO 3.0 can offers more of that we see in F1 2015.

I admire a lot the way of Polyphony Digital make game. GT is a fantastic game too.
Very realistic in your Greatness of immersion. F1 is near of it.

Yes. I think CodeMasters should dump the F1 license & all the restrictions/excuses that come with it so they can free up their resources to do better work on other IPs.

Even with the recent success of Dirt Rally, F1 is probably Codemasters most lucrative franchise. They're a small developer in a currently-fragile British videogame industry, and to be honest I would fear for their future if they weren't making F1 games any more.

Any other developer would have to start from scratch, so you'd be left with a really basic game again, or a game that does have the features, but are so rushes it doesn't do it any justice. You'd be 3 or 4 years on before getting a decent version.

Couldn't agree more!
Another useless thread in this community....go play something else while waiting for F1 2016!

i'd say let's give them another chance... F1 2016 is almost ready and there is no point to ask them to drop this franchise right now

Ah, the annual question. And who else would do it exactly? EA are the only company that could afford it and wouldn't be platform exclusive and their last try at F1 games were terrible and as others have said, a new company would have to start from scratch.
2015 is nearly there as it is in regards to the AI and physics, 2016 will only be a step forward and including the features we've been waiting for. By what the testers said, 2016 is looking very promising so why not wait and see how it rates before asking this question...again.

Well, then, after so many experienced comments, I do not want Codemasters pass the baton, however, be more "honest" with the public.
Type less suspense, more responsibility to the final game.

That doesn't seem all that different from the current situation.

A few weeks back I would have said give it to any other dev team after the 2014 and 2015 games turned out so bad but all the you tubers seemed blown away with 2016 so im hopping this will finally be the game that each year we have expected/wanted. Who knows it might be exactly like 2013 but with next gen graphics? If that's the case time to move on Imo but if we get a good solid game with plenty of features added (that work) then it might just be the game that sets codemasters and the F1 franchise up for a long future of great games. Imo 2015 had many different changes behind the scenes and that's why we got such a half and half game (2 seasons but nothing else) Id gladly wait till the season is over if it makes for a great game that works so for now Im trusting the you tubers and just waiting for news before bashing them for prob bout the 3rd year now :)

my only problem with Codemasters is how long it takes to get the game out. Any other sport game comes out either before the season starts or somewhere near the beginning, and then said company updates. Either a week or 2 after release. Codemasters releases the game almost with the season completed. So now I have to mod the game to be current, as I will play last years game modded with this years drivers/schedule.

Codemasters size as a company and the cost of F1 do not mix, they really are the equivalent of Sauber in F1.  I welcome an F1 2K17 or an attempt from EA.

This.

Also, Codemasters posted on their F1 Facebook page about one of the Youtubers that went to their testing a few months back. Maybe an announcement quite soon? They're drawing attention to F1 2016 so that must mean something.

After F1 2016 and Dirt Rally(differant dev team I know, but still codemasters...), then sure Codemasters proofs that they deserve this F1 license. And also, I don't see what other companies that would pick off the F1 license, so I guess if CM dont renew then it will be like the time between Sony and Codemasters. A few years with no F1 games.

F1 license is expensive, the new devs had to start from scratch, they most likely had to make it for all platforms to make enough money. So I doubt studios like Turn 10, Sony etc would get it because I think the F1 license is so expensive now that sales on just PS4 and Xbox One would not be enough(but then again, what do I know off that?...)

You guys think the guys from Evolution Studios have a lot to do with the improvements to Codemasters racers?

Why should they hand the licensing onto a company that may not have as much history with F1 games or even racing games at all? Codemasters has both the history and potential to make a better game than anybody else. This year's game was a launch into the right direction with a feature lacking F1 2015.

Well, I'm no veteran here as most of you are, having only been playing this game since F1 2015. But I have to say that Codemasters should keep improving the game in a similar fashion as T10 Studios do with the Forza Motorsport series, where the focus is on continued physics engine upgrades, color fidelity, atmospherics and haptics. F1 content narrative is just that, content narrative, but much can be done in the way of better physics et al and Codemasters have that expertise down pact, so yeah, keep at it for sure!
