Introducing F1™ 2016

Recommended Posts

Loving hearing that there is actually something to do in all 3 practice sessions now like install lap, tyre wear simulation and qualifying simulation in the career mode. I really really hope that this is included in just regular season mode where you're a real like drive. Career mode isn't everyone's cup of tea. I prefer picking my favorite driver and doing a season of with them. Just hope all the practice stuff is included @jennyannem

you keep the upgrades for next season, but the path resets :)
so if your mclaren you may use all engine upgrades season 1 to get it upto par with other teams (that also develop) but you may lose ground on aero if all your points are used for engine

Co-op mode back? still no classic content, after all these years? I guess that Mp4/4 will have to wait.

I can't imagine that with 25 fixed upgrades possibilities in career the upgrades wouldn't reset every season. They'll probably alter the base performance of the car and open up all the upgrades again at the start of each season. This is more realistic also because teams start with a new 'a-spec' design each season.

Some numbers if the upgrades wouldn't reset per season:

Base Mercedes = 1000
Upgrades Mercedes = 50 x 25 = 1250
Potential = 2250

Base Manor = 500
Upgrades Manor = 50 x 25 = 1250
Potential = 1750

If each upgrade is worth equal this means the slowest teams can never beat the fastest teams even after 10 seasons. Or they would have to make the upgrades for slower teams more worthwhile:

Base Manor = 500
Upgrades Manor = 75 x 25 = 1875
Potential = 2375

The latter makes no sense because it means slower teams that have less resources can somehow bring more meaningful upgrades to their cars. I'd imagine that the Manor after a successful season would see their base performance increase by +100 points and therefore slowly catching other teams.

Hopefully the pecking order can really change if the AI cars also get R&D and teams can bubble up upgrades to, for example, bring a b-spec car to a certain race. Would be cool if the race commentator also knows this and comments on it like: "Mclaren opted to race their b-spec for the first time here in catalunya".

Can someone explain this "F1 2016’s new career mode spans 10 seasons and will take you deeper into the world’s most glamorous, exciting and prestigious motorsport...." When we say 10 seasons, are we saying the game takes us all to way back to the 2007 season to present? Now that would be rad indeed !

I would imagine it'll be 2016's tracks 10 times in a sense much like the earlier games  because that would mean CM would likely have to license the extra tracks  that aren't on the calendar anymore if they were to do more. Granted it would be nice but I think career mod essentially means racing the 2016 calendar 10 times. Just upgrading your car and abilities and such t osuit your style as you go. You will have the option to move from one team to another at various points for a new challenge and such. But again you get to pick and choose. The only thing you have full control over at the start of career is your race number and your starting team. After that it's just a case of seeing if you can impress people and convince them that you want to race for them then that's up to you to decide.

I recommend you try playing one of the 2010-2014 games then you'll get an idea of what career mode is all about. I would suggest going and trying F1 2010 as it sounds like it's going to be more like that one than the one on the slightly newer games.

Why would it be 10 of the same season, and since this is a new platform game, why can't it be 10 seasons starting with 2007 ? If this is the case we should see some amazing circuits introduced to the game.  that would give us tracks like:

Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Circuit de Nevers
Istanbul Park
Fuji Speedway
Valencia Street Circuit
Korea International Circuit
Buddh International Circuit
Baku City Circuit

Because it costs extra money to produce these extra tracks because they have to be licensed because the game is only authorized to carry tracks used in the current season which is 2016 which means they're only authorised to put and use tracks being used this year. Any extras they have to pay for. I'm not against wanting more tracks to race as it would be interesting and in fact I like the idea but it's not going to happen.
Why should it cost extra to carry more tracks when this is a collobrative effort and with the FIA and F1 teams and the circuits in question are no longer on the F1 calendar, is all I'm saying. The FIA should be throwing in this stuff for free to enhance fan experience!
That's precisely why, I'd imagine. If they're not part of the F1 calendar any more, FOM have no rights to pass on to Codemasters, so Codemasters would have to go and do a separate licensing deal with each circuit directly.

I'm hoping they don't do 10 seasons of 2016, as that will be boring like hell.  It will be really cool if they go back 10 seasons and include the additional 7 tracks and cars that accompany each season - now that would be a nice progressive approach that will allow users to experience the technological shift in the sport beginning with 2007 season.

Hmmm....no engine blow ups?  So does that mean there is once again no engine damage, no transmission damage? C'mon CM.
There was no engine blow ups in the version he played, he said theyd worked on the damage model but couldnt talk about it so the version they used might not have had damage in it at all due to it not being a final build, time will tell.

Will the Xbone version be  inferior to the PS4 version like last year?
Unless Microsoft have made their hardware better since then, probably.
Unless you plan on buying a new xbox you mean software, unless you have people who randomly come out and pull your xbox apart and change parts then leave again.

Cant wait for F1 2016 from the screen shots and revealed content it looks like the best codies game yet. The career mode looks sorta like F1 2010 which is what I have wanted for a long time.

@jennyannem - Will there be more information on the steering wheel, like full lap times and sectors etc. Instead of just one lap time like in this picture and it only tells you if you are up or down after completing a lap. It would be a good feature to have more information on the steering wheel.

Been wondering this, cant even see tyre temps anymore which is a touch frustrating

Within career mode I would like some sort of news reel about how teams are developing, who are going to be the next team to make a step forward. If an offer is made to drive for you, they can provide information about how the current development of their car is progressing or set target results where the team is aiming for.

An example would be Grosjean moving to Haas and how his choice to leave Lotus/Renault looks to be positive so far.

I think it would help in the longevity of  career mode rather rather than a random movement of teams for instance Manor replacing toro rosso in the pecking order.

Indeed it's virtually guaranteed because that's how the career mode worked before and I'm pretty suer this is how it'll work now. Would be nice but unfortunately not going to happen as it would cost too much to produce.

That's what I was trying to say in my post as this was how 2010-12 worked when it came to changing the order around in a sense and I get the feeling this'll be the approach that CM will take for 2016instead of like in 2013-14 where it's completely reset after every season. Not suer whether the commentator will comment on it bu they may say something like Williams have brought a new upgrade this weekend or something. We'll have to wait and see how the game works.

If i remember correctly when one of the last f1 games went to testing or E3 or something they had turned damage off for that too from memory.

F1 2015 was my first F1 game ever, so I'm waiting  to see what all the fuss is about having this vaunted career mode in F1 2016 over the Pro Season mode in F1 2015 - I really hope it's worth it for real !!

Yeah, I remember CM saying they were working towards releasing towards the beginning of the F1 season, it sucks all the EA sports games are released before the year even starts but F1 is the end of the year :/

Araava has videos on youtube with a more in depth look at the R7D system. Its not like old careers where teams switch places, whatever car you end season 1 with, you start season 2 with (assuming youve not changed teams) but all cars keep their performance, but obviously upgrades for mercedes will be smaller in terms of time than a Manor upgrade as their is more scope for improvement, so the challenge is as a top team to stay there getting as much points in practise for R&D as possible.

And as I have said before theres more than 25 upgrades over the 10 years, so I'm assuming theres a new R&D development tree every year

The R&D development system looks amazing and will really spice everything up. It will also make being at a top team harder because not only do you have to try and challenge for the championship you have to work hard to maintain your position. Together with the other new content for F1 2016 such as the VSC ( virtual safety car), saftey car, pit boards, open customisation, and much more F1 2016 is gonna be the best Codies F1 game so far!

Codemasters have never said that. They said earlier in the year.

No they did say something about it being released late July to early August. Seems a really long way away considering that the game is near enough complete, just need the community to make sure it's good enough and add in the 2016 liveries
