And the Mk2 Escort does not have IRS and carbon fiber interior !!

They modelled the in-game Mk2 Escort after McRae's Escort.

Yeah, I know, its a one off Frankenstein hybryd that was built in 2004, has no place in the 70's class, just so wrong on so many levels.

I suppose so but we can live in the hope that Codies will face up to the horror of what they have done and redeem themselves by giving us a proper period Boreham works or Sutton RS1800 and shove the current Mk2 into open class where it belongs.

It's often down to licensing issues, probably why there is mkII in seb loeb rally evo. It's a shame. But about the mini, is it really that much of a problem?

There are lots of little technical inaccuracies with the cars if you look hard enough: none are jarring enough to break my enjoyment of the game though!

Shall we make a list of little nitpicky innacuracies that 99% of everyone won't notice except us weirdos?  I find this stuff really interesting for some reason:
-AI damage sometimes gives reports that are impossible for certain cars
-2004-built MkII Escort in the 70s class
-R4 Subaru has the wrong wing
-2007 Focus has the wrong front end and gearbox
-Delta Integrale has a modern Digidash

Anything else you rivet-counters out there have found?

Generally agree and little technical inaccuracies I can live with, but Codies have ported over the current Mk2 from D3 with IRS, carbon fiber interior, plastic windows, wrong shape arches, wrong size rims, no mudflaps, hideous roof scoop, no roof coms aerial, Engine sound from a 1960 Datsun Roadster ! Its a completely different car, only the rough shape and name is the same ! I understand why they did it, save work, meet deadlines, get the product to market, etc etc, and the car was built for McRea who's DNA is in the game. I have faith in Codies that this was just a temporary Mk2 until they have time to do a proper period one, no serious rally sim developer would allow this sacrilege to continue with such an iconic, successful and much loved car, some things are sacred in the world of Rallying and should be respected.

I rarely drive the Escort because it bothers me.

I used to rally Escorts in real life. My last one was an ex-works car I bought from Boreham. LVX 947 J

A Mk I RS1600 with a Terry Hoyle 1860 iron block BDA.

Also;
- Evo X R4 has wrong torque curve and it's RHD
- basically every car with an LCD display has that fake MoTeC clone. Especially in modern WRCs it looks so wrong (for example the Polo should have GEMS LDS4)
- Gr.A Impreza should have 6 gears
- '01 Impreza WRC has wrong interior

Oh well, I love the game anyway!

Yes, despite these errors I've racked up 1,117 hours currently...so you can tell I really like DiRT Rally.  :-)

The 2007 focus front is right (works cars have some stickers to make it look like the phase2 street version but the one in game is very well modeled).... and the real delta "evoluzione" works cars feature a digital dash... there ara a lots of inaccurancies on dirt rally's models and specs but there are also some things that are right.

I also noticed that the aerial on my R4 Mitsu is approx 1.4 inches shorter than the real life car.

Hope Codies fix this in the next patch.

X2

The 1992 Group A Delta (the one used by the Jolly Club if i'm not mistaken) did use a digidash

Ah, you guys are right, I did some looking and found this picture:

The one in the game is a more modern example, but it's still a digidash.

Off the top of my head:

- Wrong number plate on the Fiesta WRC (this was the same in DiRT 3 as well: I wonder if it's a licensing thing?)
- Rear air intake setup on the rallycross Subaru is wrong: the car in game has the configuration of the Impreza used in the GRC, the design had to be changed in order for the car to comply with World Rallycross regulations.
- Exhaust setup on the rallycross DS3 isn't correct for either of the liveries included (Solberg's DS3 has a slightly off centre exhaust exit, Doran's main DS3 had dual exit exhausts)

Sure I have spotted more, but I can't think of them now! The modern features in classic cars (like the digi-dash in the Integrale) don't bother me so much, as I know that rally cars are often tweaked over the course of their life. I do agree that the McRae Escort seems out of place in the 70's class though. Would be nice to see the "proper" McRae Escort slotted into another class and a period-spec Escort dropped into the 70's class.
