Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 3 was the first one. Amazingly, I re-installed it and it still runs on my computer.

After GP3 there was a long hiatus until I met some folks who played F1 2013. They convinced me to buy the 2014 version.

Geoff Crammond Grand Prix! Oh men that was such a great game! I played that so much. I remember it was in a big green box. There came a book with the cd, with all the f1 rules, like flags etc. It felt like more than just a game. Great memories :)

F-1 World Grand Prix for the Nintendo 64, although before that I played the old school f1 games called Grand Prix for the PC, back when you could only select three cars, Ferrari, Williams, and the McLaren when it was red and white.

F1 2002 EA Sports PC. It was a good and exciting game. There were a lot of technical problems with the car could fall apart from anyone. The opponent also crashed each other the way . Why does my computer to install the game ( F1 2002) successfully but when the game starts so it does not rotate it ?

+1 to those mentioning Grand Prix Circuit as well, thought that was great back in the day.
God I'd forgotten about that one, I had that.

What was the one called on the old Atari that was on the Fuji track, the name escapes me?

Grand Prix Unlimited!

Some of you were not even born when this bad boy came out. Back in its day it had some seriously awesome features, variable weather, a full 16 race calendar, single race mode, practice mode, championship mode, track editor, instant replay with car view (pause the replay and you could do a 360 degree walk around of the car from all angles minus underneath), it even had a code wheel; this was before unique game codes, every time you booted the game up it would ask you for a numerical password that could only be found by using the wheel (wheel was two cardboard disks attached in the centre with a pin allowing you to spin the top wheel. The bottom wheel had hundreds of numerical codes and the top wheel had slots cut out in varying position. You had to swivel the two wheels to the required positions get the code and type it in). Glad we don't need a code wheel now days...

But the Geoff Crammond Grand Prix series is the one I loved most of the early F1 games. Some of its features are still class leading even though it's now well over a decade old.

Downloaded GP4 the other week, it's a pain getting the controller to work correctly (i know i know, shame on me for not owning a wheel) surprisingly the modding community is still strong on that one, was having fun racing round in the 2015 cars..well...until my engine caught fire that is  :D

I haven't played it in years, what's it like now graphics wise? I assume they haven't been able to make huge strides over the base programming on that front.

For what they've been able to do it looks good. There was supposed to be an image but it's not showing.

That would have to be Formula 1 on the PS1. The one based on the 1995 season. My most played early childhood game from ages 3 - 6.

I'm 22 now and it's safe to say that Formula 1 has been my whole life.

PS1:
Formula 1 (1995)
Formula 1 '97
Formula 1 '98

PS2:
Formula 1 '02
Grand Prix Challenge

PSP:
F1 Grand Prix (2005)
F1 2009

PS3:
Formula 1 Championship Edition (which my stupid brother traded in, now I can't find a copy anywhere!)
F1 2010/2011/2012

PC:
Grand Prix 4
F1 Career Challenge
rFactor with almost every season from 1965 to 2016
F1 2013/2014

PS4:
F1 2015

Grand Prix 2000 season. Playing it on a laptop when I was 8 (2007) was such a good feeling. Learnt a lot of tracks back then, and can see the notable changes to the current ones. Lost the game after the laptop crashed, but still enjoy its predecessor Grand Prix 3, and still works on Windows 7. Kept playing that up until F1 2009 came up, and have every single F1 game released by Ccodemasters. Really enjoy F1, but also other forms of Motorsport (NASCAR, Indycar, Endurance racing etc.)
